A less essential version of the purple book, The Master Lecture Series for the NCE gives a narrative form to the Encyclopedia of Counseling. On one hand, it makes the material more easily digestible, but on the other, if you have already gone through the encyclopedia, this book feels more like a refresher.
While I appreciate the attempt to be less professional and more conversational, sometimes I felt that Dr. Rosenthal‘s humor was more of an unnecessary filler than a compliment to the material.
Overall, this book does what it set out to do: present you with lectures on the essential material for state counseling licensing exams.
