Protege in a burgeoning drug empire, James Wong is left for dead on a wet Vancouver street. He unburdens himself before the end and begins to accept that his hopes and dreams will never be realized. "Five stars! Grows up around you like a vine."
- Art Lange, Smashwords

"Completely unpredictable! Like something out of a Quentin Tarantino film, a memoir, and something so bizarre...out of the Twilight Zone.”
- Jennifer Nessen

"I needed to keep reading (until four in the morning!!) to see how it would turn out."
- Will Kagan, Smashwords

"This is a roller coaster ride: you're in the hot sun, chugging to the top, anticipating the drop the whole way and then--boom--the drop comes and you're gasping for air. The hot wind blasts you and your guts are in your throat. In the last half of the book, some scenes had me by the larynx. Highly recommended!"
- Dvier, Sony Reader Store

A very short tease for McIntyre's upcoming novel The Devil's Right Hand, which is set in the same universe as this and the author's previous short story, The Night Walk Men. Despite its brevity, or maybe because of it, this short story was a resounding success, as it's made me quite excited for the novel.

Like most of McIntyre's work, I am a sucker for anything regarding The Night Walk Men! So, once I found this little gem being given away on Amazon as a free e-book I naturally scooped it up.

Again, it's another short read, but oh my god. I was fortunate enough to be a beta reader for Jason's new full length novel THE DEVIL'S RIGHT HAND and KRO was simply perfect. It actually cast a new hue of grey on the next instalment of his work, and I'm pretty sure I did a small fangirl *SQQUEEEEEE* when I read it.

I adore Kro, really I do. And I was delighted to find out a little more about her in this short story, as well as another character that you'll get to know better when the novel is finally available in your bookstore - sadly, my bookstore is wholly understocked and I can't find it anywhere! *weeps* But anyway ... you'll enjoy it. I promise.

This is my first time reading McIntyre's work and I was very pleased with it. I haven't read "The Night Walk Men" which this story is closely related to, but I didn't feel that I needed to do so either.

In this story I was hooked early on by the characters and was kept glued to my e-reader as the story unfolded. Since it was a fairly short read, it was more like a teaser. That normally doesn't sit well with me, but I think it was also a great story by itself and that the tease was just an added bonus.

I'm looking forward to reading this author's upcoming novel "The Devil's Right Hand" that follows in the same world as "Kro" does. I enjoyed his writing a good amount.

I loved the writing style of this author, which plunged straight into the action - great action. Setting the scene for what's to come, I thought the introduction to the characters and story extremely well done. I certainly want to read more - I was intrigued to say the least, and look forward to the rest.

Recommended.

Good companion short story to McIntyre's other one. Gives a fun insight into the world he has created (and I assume will be explored in more depth in the novel); creepy elements and lots of mystique. Judging from the two short stories I have read, I'm looking forward to reading the novel.

Don't answer that...

As always perfect. Jason never fails to reel me into any of his shorts/novels in just a few words. Definitely will be reading more of the Night Walk Men.

Kro (The Night Walk Men, #3) by Jason McIntyre

Kro introduces a new character within the "The Night Walk Men Series". James Wong is left for dead on the streets of Vancouver. Being involved in the drug trade will not end well for James. As he ponders his life, until an unexpected experience occurs. Masterfully written by Jason McIntyre I was hooked from the first page. So much happens on these pages. Overall I can say this is another fantastic satisfying read. I highly recommend Kro and the others in The Night Walk men series.

I had read short snippets of this author's work on the web, and I have to say, when I finally got around to reading this short story, I was truly blown away. (I hate that cliche, but it's true.)

The bad: it's a short story. It left me wanting more.

The good: the writing is phenomenal. Yes, there's more to tell, but it's a perfect short story in that all the elements you need are there... and you truly get inside the head of the main character.

The better: There are more stories! And as soon as I get some money, I shall be downloading and reading them!

Highly highly recommended!!!

A very short taster for The Night Walk Men and The Devils Right Hand. Think I will be investing in them. Very good stuff.

This review was written before I started to take my reviewing seriously. I would need to re-read the book to give it a serious and fair review so the above review was what I posted at the time.

This is an interesting teaser. Readers meet James Wong, who is in a bit of trouble. A woman, he thinks must be an angel, named Kro, comes to his aid. Telling James to use the name Tyler Cho, for his own safety, Kro helps him out and then readers are given just a peek into what look like an amazing story.
