X-Troller

Rate this book
Scarred and weary, Dwan is ordered to go forty-seven years into the past in a last ditch effort to find the one man who can help her fight the monsters created decades ago by a company called Lambruchet. Monsters that have since devastated mankind and the world.
Eli Voight has been battling the Lambruchet demons ever since the company had his father killed. As the first Troller, he’s made it his duty to bring down the creatures and find a way to permanently stop them. He’s skeptical of Dwan's claim that she’s from the future. But her skill is undeniable, and her presence becomes an all-consuming passion for the man who had pushed aside any thought of a personal life in his quest to drive the demons to extinction.
Dwan never expected to fall, and fall hard, for the emotionally unapproachable soldier. Worse, she knew what kind of death lay ahead for Eli, which meant there could never be a future for them.
Together, they must fight to take out the monstrosities, or else Earth as it is will cease to exist. And the Earth that could be, Dwan’s world, will only hold a future of horror and hopelessness.

Eh, it was an okay book and it went by pretty quickly.

X-Troller had a pretty interesting synopsis. It's honestly what dragged me to it in the first place. It also didn't hurt that it worked for like 3 challenges either. In it, you will meet Eli and Dwan. They were pretty cute and the way they interacted with one another was intriguing enough. Yet, things just felt off or awkward throughout the book.

Not necessarily with the characters but with the story overall. I mean, the whole time travel thing was pretty cool and kept me engaged with the audiobook. The thing that killed it for me was the whole insta-love thing. Ugh, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't for me. This was most definitely not working for me.

Don't get me wrong, I love a good smut scene every now and then - have you seen all the RH books I've read? It just didn't go my way with this book and that's kind of disappointing. Other than that, the flow of the story was okay. I feel like this book had a lot of good stuff it just would've been better if the romance didn't happen in 0-10 seconds.

X-Troller by Linda Mooney, an audiobook narrated by Kay Webster took me by surprise! I never believed that I would like this book even more, I will give 5 stars to this book, oh gosh, I was wrong!
I absolutely enjoyed this book! I would classify this as a suspenseful science fiction romance.

This book is not my typical read and I chose it to fill my A-Z challenge! And this is one more proof that challenges are good, that choosing books from different genres is good, that reading something out of the comfort zone is good!
When I started I wasn't sure how much I liked it. The book is set in the future where the world is taken over by monsters (or demons) and surviving in this world is a challenge. So a kind of "Walking Dead" vibe and I have never been a fan of that program. But I am happy that I didn't give up because it started to be more exciting chapter by chapter and when the time travel happened I was already fully invested in this storyline!

The world was being taken over by monsters wiping out humanity. Chances to survive in the long term were slim when was decided that Troller (like a solder) Dwan would be sent 47 years into the past to find a man who helped to create the monsters.
When Dwan meets Eli, the first-ever Troller she quickly learns that the man she is looking for is dead. Now she has just 3 days to make changes or her mission will fail.

The interactions between Eli and Dwan are sparkling hot!

Eli and Dwan are a couple. The interactions between the two characters was interesting the world building was very descriptive and made the world intriguing. The time travel aspect of the book made you feel like you where with Eli and Dwan as they traveled. The downside to this book was the insta-love and the sex scenes where less than desirable. The creatures trying to wipe out humanity kept the story flowing. This is a middle of the road story for me the world and time travel I loved but the relationship was way to fast and it pulled away from a story that could have been written better with the romance being slowed down.

I read this book because I needed an X book for my A to Z challenge for 2019. The synopsis intrigued me. Based solely upon the SciFi aspect I would have given this 4 stars, the romance angle brought it down a star. Insta-love, plus highly questionable 'romance' scenes were a letdown.

X-Troller

Non-stop action from page one that never let up until the very end of the story. I just loved Eli and Dwan. They were a great couple. The interaction between characters was fantastic and the world building was descriptive and intriguing. The whole time travel thing was great and made you feel like you were right there with Dwan and Eli. I highly recommend this book.
