The youngest and spunkiest girl in outer space is back and ready to play!
Supermuscleman and Doc Krok are at it again, and it’s not just the galaxy they’re out to ruin—it’s Sardine and Little Louie too! Get ready for the ultimate match-up as wits battle brawn in the best bout of this series. Yes, that’s right—it’s the Space Boxing Championship and the fearless cousins must go head to head with Supermuscleman, Chief Executive Dictator of the universe, shrunken for disguise but just as muscley.
And so begins another day in the life of Sardine. . . .
Emmanuel Guibert has written a great many graphic novels for readers young and old, among them the Sardine in Outer Space series and The Professor’s Daughter with Joann Sfar.
In 1994, a chance encounter with an American World War II veteran named Alan Cope marked the beginning of a deep friendship and the birth of a great biographical epic.
Another of Guibert's recent works is The Photographer. Showered with awards, translated around the world and soon to come from First Second books, it relates a Doctors Without Borders mission in 1980’s Afghanistan through the eyes of a great reporter, the late Didier Lefèvre.
Guibert lives in Paris with his wife and daughter.
A lot of fun. Joann Sfar's art is always unconcerned with perspective and anatomy and deeply engaged with telling the story. Guibert's scripts are inventive.
Sardine in Outer Space 3 is another fun collection of stories about a space-traveling girl and her friends as they foil the plans of Doc Krok and Supermuscleman. These two sure can be a major pain in the rear for Captain Yellow Shoulder, Sardine and Little Louie.
I love the way that Sardine and Little Louie always find a way to outsmart the two main bad guys. You would think that Doc Krok and Supermuscleman would just give up one day, but they don't. They have so many evil plans to make money, or take over something, it is quite funny.
Young readers will love the adventures of Sardine and she travels through space helping the less fortunate. The artwork is a tad rough, but still enjoyable. The writing is witty and will make you occasionally laugh out loud.
Overall, Sardine in Outer Space 3 is a nice addition to this series and I look forward to seeing what kind of trouble that Sardine will get into next in Sardine in Outer Space 4. Sardine proves that you don't need muscle to win, just brains.
There is something whimsical, funny and addictively enjoyable about all the Sardine stories. They are all ten pages, generally have the same formula: Sardine, Little Louie and Captain Yellow Shoulder foil some plot by Supermuscleman and Doc Kroc--usually ending up with Supermuscleman and Doc Kroc ending up in whatever trap they were planning for others. All of them have a similar sense of whimsy about the imaginary outer space universe they depict and fun-loving about the children and their mild disobedience. The artwork is great, my children find the hilarious, and there is a lot of humor aimed at a higher level as well.
This is also a very great book, it has to deal with strange people they never met before. But somehow they found out a way to get back to earth and then there friend was going to fight this other person to get something in return. You can find this book at Ms'lasys' library.
This graphic novels series is new to me, I look forward to recommending this series to kids who are Wimpy Kid fans. This series is funny, filled with action and adventure, and great characters! Kids are going to love the unfolding stories in this series.
