The Book of You: Daily Micro-Actions for a Happier, Healthier You

Rate this book
Be happier, healthier, and more fulfilled in 2019 by spending a minute each day with The Book of YOU.
____________

Change can be hard and rarely happens overnight. The aim of this book is to empower you to make change happen.

The Book of YOU contains 365 micro-actions, one for each day of the year, divided into four areas:

· LOVE - e.g. Smile at a Stranger
"Has someone ever suddenly smiled at you on a busy street? Remember the feeling after the initial surprise? Today when you are out and about, smile at a stranger."

· MIND e.g. Set a Go-To-Sleep Alarm
"We use alarm clocks to get us up in the morning, but for many the challenge is actually the night before - hitting the sack early enough. Tonight, decide on a bedtime and set an alarm for when it's time to go to sleep."

· FOOD - e.g. Go Nuts
"Nuts are deliciously diverse in flavour, packed with protein, essential good fats and minerals, and will give you an energy boost. Try just a small handful today as a snack, or added to a meal."

· MOVE - e.g. Activate Your Abs
"While you are for example making breakfast or on the bus, pull your belly button in. This activates your deep abdominal muscles that are usually asleep, which is amazing for your lower back to provide support."

Life is not about how many steps you walk, how many calories you eat or your place on the leaderboard. Life is about feelings, moments, shared experiences; enjoying every victory, celebrating balance and showing vulnerability.

Complete just one micro-action each day and it will help you live a happier, more fulfilled life.

“Sharing is caring and laughing is loving.”
Healthy, Happy, YOU by Nora Rosendahl, Nelli Lahteenmaki and Alesksi Hoffman is a 365 daily action book. I, of course, just read through it and made notes of things I think I should do now in my life to live healthier. I am going to try to add one new thing in my life and make it stick before I move on to the next thing.

This was just the thing for the past days when I have been down. There are so many little things you can do every day to help make yourself feel better and put yourself back on track in the right mind set. This book is a collection of many of those little things, with a few thrown in for extra luck. Taking time to give yourself some kindness, self care and love is so often overlooked in this busy world of ours. Our minds are always humming, always buzzing, with new things so it can never be a bad thing to have a book such as this around to help you think of how you can take 5 minutes out of your daily life to make yourself feel happy, healthy and calm.

Not all of these worked for me and I really do wish that there was often a little more detail with a tad less activity space. Whilst I appreciate how well they work together, sometimes things required more research than necessary because they were unclear and other times it felt like things were being added in just to make sure there was something for every day.

However that said, the meal tips have been massively useful for me. They've given me an idea of where to begin when wanting a fresh, home-cooked meal despite having limited supplies in my kitchen and only an hour on my hands. Frozen fruit and veg left overs have become a staple when preparing food, and I feel that my diet has become so much better and more balanced for it. In this regard, the words of advice given can have no fault.
