Hailed as one of the best authors of street lit, Ca$h is back with this gritty, vicious and compelling tale of a young beautiful career woman who is deeply in love with a thug that she can’t seem to let go in spite of his many transgressions. Shorty Got A Thug is a stunning portrayal of Niesha’s undying love for Brazen, and Brazen’s unrelenting love for the streets. It is a novel that lays to bare the shocking truths about the drug game. Shorty Got A Thug unveils the greed, betrayal, violence, and even the heartbreaking love that comes with the fast life. It is a close to true account of a thug’s obsession with the life, and how his obsession puts everyone that loves him at risk. As Brazen stacks bodies along his climb to the top, will his quest eventually push Niesha away? Or will Niesha get caught in the crossfire when Brazen’s fiercest adversary strikes back, taking grimey to a whole new level? What price will Niesha pay for loving a thug? Cash masterfully spins a story that can only be told by someone who has intimate knowledge of what he writes about. The characters are unforgettable and the dialogue is jaw dropping. This book will hold you from the first page to the last, and it will stay with you long after its conclusion.
Everything about this book screams reality for the woman that truly loves and has a thug in her life. From Niesha who rides for her "true to the game" boyfriend Brazen. This book deserves many accolades.
A glimpse into the characters...
Niesha is a woman torn between loving a man who loves the streets and hating the grimey life he's living. She holds him down as any good black woman does her man and then falls weak to his comings and goings as an attached lover would. Doing the right thing doesn't always feel right and the way Cash pens her back and forward" love him and leave him" situation is truly realistic!
Brazen is a beast! He takes for granted the one person (Ni) who has remained consistent in his life but I can appreciate how he recognizes it. He was foul in a lot of the female side dishes he dined upon but again isn't that not the reality of some men? On the streets, he ran his team with an iron fist. But of course there will always be trouble in paradise. I mean every garden has it's snake and his was Silk. Realistic!
Each character was well developed from Dee the hard as nails and down right killa lesbian lover of Butta whose loyalty spoke volumes. Tank who went out a G. I respected this character's brief role. Silk whose ambitions came with a price, Carmen the sneaky cousin of Ni who gets her just desserts, Unc, the old head and even Fat Cat. Magnifico!!
And to discover that Part II is in the making made me (for a lack of better words) happy!
I have a GET or SH*T list to all potential readers.
This book is a GET!
Cash. Your book has just been blazed!!! Your joint is on fiyah!
She’s hopelessly in love with him while his only devotion is to the streets. Niesha and Brazen’s relationship made me roll my eyes so hard I thought they’d actually get stuck in the back of my head. Brazen had love for Niesha but he was married to the game with no intentions of getting out. It was frustrating to watch her not be able to stand on business despite desperately wanting him to change his ways for her. Luckily, the rest of the plot was adventurous and intriguing enough to distract me from the struggle love. Brazen and his crew learned the hard way that the game loves absolutely no one. I was impressed with how the author was able to wrap up this raw, gritty, vicious story with a somewhat happy ending. The author interview at the end was also a nice touch.
I first read "Thugs Cry" by Ca$h and I loved it so much I'm determined to read all of his other titles. I didn't like it as much as Thugs Cry but I still enjoyed it and thought it was a 4 star read. I was intrigued by the story line and once I started getting into it I didn't want to put it down. I could definitely relate to the relationship between Brazen and Niesha but I wish the book would have focused on their relationship more. I needed more 'hood loving' lol. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I finished in about 4 hours. Another banger by ca$h and I recommend it.
Ca$h leaves you always wanting more of his work. Like he says, he writes about the relatable things and people gravitate towards it. Shorty got a thug shows you the real path of destruction that ensues when you're living that lifestyle. I enjoyed this read of course Ca$h!
WOW!! You really know how to get down with the pen. Brazian is real with his and I like that. Carmen wow is a triffling bitch she got what she had coming for doing her cousin like she did. Like she said she will always remember that ass whopping. Silk shouldn't have tried to be greedy because greed gets you nowhere. I am so glad that he kept his word to Niesha and they are expecting a baby and this one is his. Keep up the great writing so I can keep reading Muchlove
If you have some love and peace in your soul left do NOT read this book. It started out interesting but got me disgusted halfway in. I never had such strong feelings against a book before. I'll give it 3 stars because I could not put it away and stop reading because I was so engaged with the characters and enraged at their actions, but I just wanted it to be over. It got me a view in a world I dont belong. For my own sanity I won't be reading a similar book ever again.
This book really grabbed my attention in the beginning but fell off after a while. I lost some interest in the back & forth & I had some difficulty keeping up with the characters. It was also kind of odd that Brazen seemed to just luck up on being the boss & being respected so fast. I enjoyed it overall
Raw! It's thuggish , sweet, and bloody. Makes you wonder why dudes keep doing this! This is brutal. Not a story for the faint at heart. I found the interview with the author at the end of the book very interesting. It helped me understand how he can write such gripping stories. I could have enjoyed this story with a little less brutality. No Sweat
Cash certainly did not disappoint not that he would. Very enjoyable read. I couldn’t put this book down. Lots of drama. Loved the characters Niesha & Brazen. They will live happily ever after. Must read.
Wow what a page turner. Brazen wasn't no joke, Niesha finally left him for her peace of mind and Carmen & Silk finally got their krama. I was glad that Brazen got out the game went after Niesha and proposed to her
Im so proud of you cash im proud of all you and LDP are accomplishing with you behind them walls I know there is hope for you once you are released keep your head up G and always know you got a true supporter in me as long as I have breath in my body
I didn't know what to expect when I one clicked this, but if I knew one thing Cash knows how to weave a story...and he did not disappoint with this one!
I was immediately intrigued by Niesha and her naivety. I mean we all been there where we love and guy and don't want to let him go..but she started to get on my nerves. They say love has no limits, but often I wondered how long it would take for her to realize that Brazen was toxic to her?
As I got to know Brazen, I realized that he is like many of the young and older men in the hood, he has no limits to what it takes to getting rich..he lives, breathes, and eats in the streets and no matter how much he claims he loves Niesha he can't leave the streets because it is his first love...Brazen can't get it right, he would rather jeopardize his relationship with Ni so that he can sleep with her grimy cousin...
As time goes on, Ni wakes up and realizes Brazen isn't for her and she cuts all communication off with him. When too much blood sheds in the streets and family is loss, Brazen realizes where he needs to be? but will Niesha be there for him?
From beginning to ending I was intrigued , I felt as tho I was living part of this novel, it's kind of hard to really express feelings after having read so many of Ca$h and his crew books ...... A lot of feelings true or fictional are put into each and every one that I have read and I'm overwhelmed after reading each and everyone ......... These books can give a person life , I recommend this novel and all others to read ..... You won't be disappointed. They will leave you with a thirst for more ......
for Ni i will just shake my head love can run real deep and sometimes you can be really blinde. Every woman has been through a situation like Ni it's like a roller coaster for the first time you get on it and get that rush feeling and the second time you thinking about it before getting back on so taking a chance for the one you love can end good are bad so at the end of the day do you choose to save yourself are save hem.. shorty really do have a thug a must read book
Brazen is a fool, I can't believe he did half the stuff he did and walked away. I thought Ni would be stronger then what she was by leaving him alone. Silk was a problem from the jump so it was no doubt that he was going to bring it and that he did. Carmen was foul and should've stayed in her lane but most chicks will go after what they shouldn't no matter if it belongs to them or not. Good book ton of death not really my style but it was still good.
I read this book because a couple people were bragging on how good it was and how I just HAD to read it... And when I did I came to the conclusion EVERYTHING AIN'T FOR EVERYBODY! I mean it was ALRIGHT at best but it could have been better... I've read other titles by the author and this is definitely not his best work...
The book was actually pretty good I just felt like in some chapters he could have put in more details especially in the beginning I felt like he went to fast maybe because the chapters was short. Overall it was pretty good I had finished it in a couple of hours ! I also think that this should of been it , I dont think Ca$h should make a part 2.
I read this book years ago but forgot it. Plus I didn't leave my comments. Well once I started reading it, boy was it good. Brazen ain't no joke. Cold hearted, handsome, smart, and knowledgeable about the streets. He loves hard and knows who he wants as wifey. If you haven't read it yet, go and get it.
When I first started reading this book, it had a few noticeable errors in it. It swiftly picked up and turned out to be a pretty good read. Although I have to admit it didn't seem like a Ca$h written book. Yet is was still a good read.
Ca$h is real. I have read many books by Cash and I HAVE BEEN ENERTAINED IN ALL OF THEM. KEEP WRITNG. I LOVE YOUR PEN WORK IT IS SIC!! I HAVE YOU IN MY PRAYERS i HOPE YOU ARE RELEASED IN 2 YRS OR BEFORE. YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TALENT TO BE BEHIND WALLS. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!!
No it's not the same as other titles by Ca$h however it is a very good story , it just shows that no matter what other's may think or say Ca$h has his own style and technique! The story is Great! Kindalynn S
Ca$h is the Truth and the KING of Urban Fiction... oooh wee! This story was an emotional roller coaster of drama, sex and gruesome violence. All of the characters were believable and relatable. Talk about twists and turns...OMG! A must read!
