Hannah Jones is a relatively happy woman doing a job she loves, counseling high school students, owning her own place and working with her best friend. She seems to have everything she ever wanted. The only problem is she still wants the one who got away. Adam Cooper. The love of Hannah's life and the man who broke her heart. She hasn't heard from him in fifteen years and suddenly there he is asking her to be his friend on a social network. Faced with a choice, Hannah must decide if she should open herself to potential heartbreak once again and accept him, or hit decline and run as fast as she can.
Adam Cooper walked away from the one he loved fifteen years ago. But the passing time has done little to make him forget the sexy woman with wild hair and big brown eyes. Not a single day has gone by that he hasn’t thought about Hannah and wished she were back in his arms. Now, his little sister has convinced him to make an account on a social site and he can’t help but search for the woman who has invaded his dreams for more than a decade. He has the perfect job and the perfect family. There’s only one thing—or person—missing and he’s finally ready to get her back. But first, Hannah must be willing to accept his request.
From the author of the Double Threat Series and Against the Wall comes a story of just how far you are willing to go to accept the past and move on to the future.
I'm a mom, a wife, a teacher, a reader, and a writer. I'm also an lunatic when it comes to the NFL and playing Fantasy football, especially if I don't get my first pick quarterback: Tony Romo. When I'm not at home or work, you can probably catch me on the 15 freeway singing my heart out and dancing away in my car.
If you love something, let it go, if it doesn't come back then you know it was truly never meant to be. But if it comes back then you know you certainly found a love that will last a lifetime. Hannah truly loved Adam, enough to let him go off to medical school so he could realize his hopes and dreams. She always figured he'd come back for her, she just never thought it would take him fifteen years! After half a lifetime apart, Adam takes the first step & reaches out to Hannah, and they discover that they're still crazy about each other.
And sure, Hannah gets her happily ever after, but at what expense?! She & Adam lost so much time together in between; she never really moved on while he went on to medical school, open his own practice and oh, by the way, he had & raised a son as well!! And now, that he wants her back in his life, because it's a package deal, she has to raise someone else's child because he was too selfish to stay with her while he attempted to build a life for himself without her in it. But does this HUGE topic get discussed at all?! Nope, the heroine doesn't even discuss her feelings about his absence. (But that probably just means that Hannah might just be a bigger person because she's able to accept that and move on without question, whereas I would feel too hurt to be able to accept such a huge responsibility without even a discussion into how I felt about the whole matter!)
I'm not saying the book was horrible, but I could've done with a little more character development, which probably would've allowed me to build an emotional connection with them.
No doubt, I'm loving Julia Prestsater's writing more and more! after reading Against the Wall and Between the Sheets i'm all hooked with Julie's books! And MORE THAN A FRIEND REQUEST was one of favorites! The story was quite short than the other two books but it was lovely nonetheless!
I love how Hanna and Adam found their way back to each others arms after their long break up.Its quite amusing that they've able to bridge their gap through a social site. It's refreshing that after their grown up age they still felt like a teenager! So much with the family drama and dilemmas, they've made it up to the end.Danny was such a sweetie! that boy was a charmer at his young age! so glad that Leila and Aaron also made it back to each other! so cool with all of their happy endings :)
Awesome book... a short fun read that you can't put down... Never let that 1 person get away... And if you do and they come back in your life give it a chance.
I wanted more of this book!!!! I love books about the one who got away! I really wanted Adam and Hannah's story to continue! Another great job by Julie!
I really enjoyed Julie Prestsater's YA series Double Threat, so I was really curious to see what she would be able to do with a contemporary romance book, which is why I jumped all over the chance to be able to read and review her latest work, More Than A Friend Request.
And can I say for the record that I am so glad that I read this book? Because I really am.
This was such a cute fun summer read.
The character's story was engaging and more than once I found myself getting teary eyed at the heartfelt scenes. I adored Danny! If I had a son I seriously would want him to be just like him. I think he was my favorite character.
This really is just one of those feel good stories that you can read in one sitting. Yeah, there may be a few cheesy moments but hey, I happen to love the cheese!
Plus being a hopeless romantic and all, well, this book filled all those spots I happen to love and adore. I knew coming into this one that it wasn't going to be this huge complicated storyline and sometimes it is nice to have something that you know you can read without all the drama and know that you are going to get a cute read with a great happily ever after.
Two lovers part ways when Adam wants to follow his dream of becoming a doctor, figuring he can't keep a relationship together and concentrate on his studies. Never having forgotten her, fifteen years later, he reconnects with the love of his life, Hannah. Hannah is thrilled and terrified about facing the only man she ever loved and lost when Adam sends her a friend request through a social media site. Long buried love quickly rises to the surface and the two lovers pick up almost where they left off. Hannah is in for a bit of a surprise when Adam reveals he has a son, and they have to face the past to move forward.
This really sweet story of long lost love recaptured grabbed my attention from the first page. I couldn't stop reading until I was finished. It gives such hope that some things like true love never die. I absolutely loved it!
I loved reading this book! It's a fun and easy read. I liken it to stepping inside a rom/com movie. It's endearing and so stupidly sweet that I think I got a cavity. Most of it is so ridiculously over the top. It's definitely one of those 'it could only happen in a perfect world' stories- but it works with this book. You will absolutely love- with a capital L- Danny! If you're looking for a light read that will leave a smile on your face at then end, this is for you! PS: Would have loved it if Hannah had gotten to get her verbal bitch slap on Amber and bust out the Momma Bear claws.
This was more of a 3 1/2 star book for me. I thought it started it off great, but I felt the book got a little corny, and I just couldn't believe that the main characters would just get back together so easily after not seeing each other for 15 years. It was good, and I liked it, but I just wished for a little more!
Such a fun read. This was my first time reading one of Julie's adult romances after being totally hooked on her Double Threat series, and it will not be my last time reading her adult romance novels. Great job, Julie!
3.5 Stars! A fun easy read with a happy heart touching ending. It's more short story than novel so it's quick and satisfying...kinda like a candy bar in the airport;) The characters are sweet and loving and so forgiving. A nice change from the angsty heart crushers I have been reading.
This was a lovely quaint romance. I really enjoyed it. The characters were very well developed and the story flowed beautifully. Well done to Julie Prestsater. I look forward to reading more of her books.
Wow!! Great book, short, loving, funny, and reality!!!! Although I shed alot of tears reading this book, I'm thankful to finally read a happily ever after ;)
A pretty short story of reunited, long lost love. In college, Adam and Hannah were madly in love. But Adam decided he needed to be single to go to medical school and he broke her heart. 15 years later, he decides he's done being away from her and sends her a friend request, hoping he can get the love of his life back, knowing he made a huge mistake.
Hannah is remarkably willing to throw her heart out there, considering. In one respect, I like that there wasn't a lot of focus on the negative and the hurt feelings. Hannah and Adam come together very quickly, naturally and they definitely feel like soul mates. But I'm also disappointed that so little of that heartbreak was dealt with. Adam never really apologizes for what he did or makes it clear that it was the biggest mistake of his life. Hannah just seems to accept that it was without hearing it. And the double standard on this just killed me. Hannah went 15 years (15 years!!!) without love, without sex and without moving on. Meanwhile, Adam, who supposedly loved Hannah all this time - so much so that he carried a picture of her in his wallet for years - apparently decided 2 years in that he could have a relationship with a woman, got her knocked up. So Hannah loved him enough to be celibate for 15 years, while Adam couldn't even wait 2. And he even admitted that he'd always intended to go back for her. But that didn't stop him from sleeping with other women. Which brings me to the other issue - Adam could raise a child during medical school, but he couldn't handle a relationship with the woman he supposedly loved. I just wish that some of this had been talked about or something...because let's face it, poor Hannah lost 15 years waiting for this guy. And it clearly affected her, as evidenced by her response there at the end, but nobody talked about it.

Sweet story about Adam finding his long lost love of fifteen years ago . He never forgot about Hannah but his little sister gets him on social media and he finds her, but he has a son now so can they get back together and become a family. This is a good holiday read as a nice easy to read book.
3.5 Stars! More Than a Friend Request was such a touching novel about true love and its impact on you through life and its trials and tribulations.
Summary: Hannah Jones has a good life. She is a school counselor working with her best friend, Leila. She's content, but she still yearns for the one that got away. Adam Cooper. Hannah met Adam in college and he is the love of her life. Unfortunately, he also broke her heart when he broke things off with her because he was headed to med school. Over the years, Hannah has dated, but no one ever measured up to Adam, and she dreamed of the day she could be in Adam's arms again. Finally, her chance comes when Adam requests to be her friend on a popular social network. Worried about the fifteen years that have passed by without a word, Hannah is overwhelmed with emotion and unsure if she should accept. Adam knew almost the moment he walked away from the love of his life, that it was a mistake. Not one day has passed that Adam hasn't thought of Hannah and wished for another chance. He was just so worried about failing in med school and he didn't want Hannah to see that. He also, unexpectedly learned he was going to be a father. When his baby mama leaves their three month old child without a backward glance, he focuses all his energy on accomplishing his goals and providing a good life for his boy. He's done well for himself and his son is a kind-hearted, well-adjusted teenager. The only thing missing is the woman he loves. He's determined to make contact and do everything in his power to win her back. He is hopeful when Hannah accepts his friendship. Talking online and on the phone is just as easy as all those years ago, but when they meet in person for the first time in fifteen years, its like they were never apart a day. Sparks fly and the familiarity is immediate. They know they are the loves of each others lives. Its a bit of shocking news for Hannah to learn about Danny, Adam's son, but she immediately falls in love with him as well. Hannah gets a bit of resistance to her new situation from Leila, but thats only because Leila is in love with Adam's twin brother Aaron but she let him go in fear. Eventually, Leila sees how happy Hannah is and relents. Adam, Hannah, and Danny get closer and closer while also arranging a romantic reunion between Aaron and Leila. Everyone is happy. The future looks bright, but what does it mean for Adam, Danny, and Hannah when Danny's mom comes back into the picture? Can true love really conquer all, including the emotional turmoil of a teenager?
Just a sweet, sweet read. Not very long. It was perfect for a breather between heavier books. I love the idea of true love and seeing Adam and Hannah and even Leila and Aaron reunite after so many years was touching. I will definitely look for more from this author. <3
