Molly Miggins has been given a task by the Magic Council. The task? To rescue her parents from the mysterious, void where they were sent after a disappearing trick went terribly wrong.. In book one Magic Molly, The Mirror Maze, Molly managed to outwit a crafty wizard and rescue her father. Now the race is on to find her mother who has been captured and taken to another part of the void by the green, slimy, jellified ghost, Gloop. Molly is assisted in her quest by the wacky Granny Whitewand, the old witch who can't even remember Molly's name. Aunt Matilda, who loves boy bands and keeps a secret pet in her handbag, and Wonky, the ancient, damaged wand that she finds so difficult to control. Then of course, there’s Henrietta Havelots, the richest girl in town who is determined to thwart Molly at every turn. Follow Molly's adventures as she tries to find a way back into the void and rescue her mother from the clutches of Gloop, the jelly ghost who loves to tell his captives scary ghost stories before bedtime.

I loved Magic Molly 1 and was very anxious that Book 2 was as good. It wasn't, it was actually better, and the first one was pretty great. It's a real children's story, told with guts, gumption and humour. The baddies are real baddies, snide and annoying, and the goodies are the ones you fall in love and root for.
Molly, having saved her dad in the first book, is now trying to rescue her mother. With mad security parrots, hellish posh classmates, a mad Auntie and Granny Whitewand, there is never a dull moment in this book! I love the illustrations dotted throughout the book, and the writer again weaves a masterpiece. I really rate his work and think he has some brilliant ideas. This book is a must for Potter fans, and I can't wait for Book 3!
