He is captivated by the one who saved him from death--until he finds out who she is...
When his lover is murdered by evil vampire-beast, Cruen, the grief-stricken Synjon Wise believes his life over. Enraged, he flashes her away to a remote spot in South America to give his beloved's body a proper burial. But when the sun blazes overhead and takes her body before his eyes, Synjon's mind completely unravels. Mad with the need to join her, he walks into the sun a morphed male, prepared to die.
He awakens to find himself amongst a breed known as Shifters. As he is nursed back to health by Petra, who saved his life, Synjon feels no gratitude--only anger and guilt that he is still alive. But this female is strong and refuses to let Syn waste away. For the bond that will form between them will be as nurse and patient, male and female, savior and saved.

Synjon Wise takes his dead love to the jungles where she wanted them to live together. His plan was to let the sun take her remains, after that, he did not know. However, as the sun rose he could not leave her and began to burn.

Petra watched as the distraught man laid a women's body on the ground. As she watched the women's body began to smoke and then the man also caught fire. All Petra knew was the overwhelming need to not let this man die.

Growing up with the Shifters, Petra did not know what she was, only that she was different than the shifters. Will saving Synjon bring her closer to the answers that she's been wanting for so long?

This is a short length story that provides the background for a future confrontation between Petra, Synjon, and the rest of the vampire nation as Petra seeks her father and Synjon seeks revenge for the death of the women he brought to the jungle to lay to rest. I totally enjoyed the character development and was really rooting for Synjon and Petra to get together. If you have read the Mark of the Vampire series, you definitely don't want to miss this short story.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:

Eternal Beauty is an intense & sexy novella!

As the series has been subtly doing, with the growth of the cast, the world has been expanding as well, and this novella takes a journey into yet another new corner of the wonderful MARK OF THE VAMPIRE world.

Eternal Beauty gives us a wonderful peek into the dark and revenge-bent mind of Syn, and some more in depth knowledge of where Petra has been all of these years.

I'm very excited to read more about Syn and Petra and see how things play out with their insinuation into the rest of the Roman/Impure/Mutore society. This couple is sexy as sin (forgive the pun) and this is a story that cannot be missed for all MOTV fans!!

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Eternal Beauty 4 Skulls.

I’m in love with this series... more precisely I’m in love with Lucian, but Synjon has a heartbreaking story… I felt so bad for him and all he lost in Eternal Captive ( I’m pretty sure that’s the book he joined the series, it’s been awhile) anyhow I’ve been chomping at the bit for some more of Laura’s MOTV goodness and this didn’t disappoint.

I just wanted so much more!! I’m greedy when it comes to Laura’s writing; it just never feels like enough. Not because the stories aren’t well plotted or fully rounded in their delivery it’s simply her ability to write characters that I become very invested in. This book was no exception in spite of its short length. I can’t wait to see where she takes the Syn and Petra element of the series.

Syn is seen here in a not so flattering light. He takes his fallen veana to the jungle where she had always wanted to make a life with him. He places her in the rays of the rising son and follows her. But as luck would have it Petra, driven by instinct pulls him to the safety of a cave.
Petra was adopted by shifters when she was around 4. The only thing her parents know is her birth parents name. Her heart is still not beating and she really wants to know what type of shifter she is. The doctor is a bear shifter who wants to mate with her. Petra gets him to help with Synjon and try to heal him.
Nice novella that is leading us up to Cruen's book. Can't wait.

I've read every book from the Mark of the Vampire series and the high quality prose has been consistent throughout. As an academic writer and fan of paranormal romance, Wright delivers a brilliant story that is written to a high standard that I can thoroughly appreciate. Her prose is very poetic at times, her descriptive writing is exquisite and filled with wonderful similes. Her emotive language has brought tears to my eyes on many occasions - she has a great sense of humour too, and I have burst out laughing often while reading her books. Am looking forward to the next full-length novel of this amazing series with its unforgettable characters.

Love the series and loved this book but....really? Cliff hangers like this drive me insane. I know it gives me something to look forward to, but I'm not the most patient even in the best of circumstances and my books are my sanity. But really, it was excellent as is the whole series. I'm looking forward to what comes next.

I know this is completely selfish but I so wish you had more books (and yes I know you are producing them as quickly as the quality of your stories allows - BUT)....
This like all of your stories had me completely sucked in and I forgot it was a short story. I so want more... Guess I'll have to re-read your series. :-)
So, loved the appetizer and can't wait for the meal.

Loved Eternal Beauty. Of course, I love all the Mark of the Vampire books, so this one did not disappoint either. Unfortunately, it just left me wanting more. I loved reading about Syn and Petra and their story and can’t wait to get their full story and their HEA.

Ahhh! I wish this would have been a full length novel. And of course, Writer Lady is notorious for her cliff hangers. I enjoyed Syn and Petra.

REVIEW: ETERNAL BEAUTY is the latest novella in Laura Wright’s Mark of the Vampire series. This particular storyline introduces Petra, a woman of unknown heritage, raised by shifters and hoping for the day her true ability and powers would reveal. But the morning she finds a beautiful man attempting to take his own life with the burn of the sun, Petra’s life will change forever.

Synjon Wise- an ancient vampire- had long searched for the woman that he loved, but a bullet took her life in an instant. Hoping to join her in death he doesn’t get far when a stranger pulls him into the shadows. As the days go by, Synjon only knows one thing-he needs to feed and Petra is the perfect source for the blood he craves.

Eternal Beauty is a short story that prefaces the November 2013 novel Eternal Sin. By way of introduction, Eternal Beauty will reveal a little more about Synjon and his need for revenge, and Petra’s connection to the man Synjon hopes to kill. But it will be Petra’s maternal connection in Eternal Demon that will have everyone questioning the insanity of familial DNA.

With Eternal Beauty, Laura Wright gives her readers a tease of what’s to come-and she does it with the same stylizings of Gray’s build up to his storyline. We get a little bit of Synjon with each story, and Eternal Beauty is the appetizer to the main course known as Eternal Sin.

“Eternal Beauty” was wonderful, but oh so teasing, that now my apprehension factor for a full length novel on Syn and Petra is unbelievable. Maybe we will see in future stories more of the newly introduced stunning shifter characters. Laura your writing style is amazing and Mark of the Vampire series is truly fantastic with its incredible storyline and wonderful characters that we have come to love.

Laura Wright has truly done amazing things with the Mark of the Vampire series. In this short story alone, Wright managed to progress the overarching plot and expand the world significantly by bringing in a whole new species, all while introducing the start of a great romance between Syn & Petra. If you have been keeping up with this series (which I highly recommend) I would definitely say this is a must read. I cannot wait for Syn & Petra's full story in Eternal Sin!

I kinda love Syn...his story is heartbreaking, and those are always the ones I love the most. There was only one problem with this novella...it was too short, and can we say cliffhanger. I got to the end and was like, "are you seriously telling me that THAT was the end...WTF!"
I must read more about Syn and Petra...they MUST have their HEA ... LOL.

What a great little teaser novela for this series, makes is so you can't wait for the next one in the series. Love this author, she always has such strong Alpha males and amazing steamy parts that she is constantly teasing us with on facebook. This series is one I would suggest to my friends who are a fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon and J.R. Ward as well as Alexandra Ivy.

Great story, really intense and very involved for a novella but the only thing is it's a cliffhanger! No real ending...otherwise loved it.

NO. Did not like this one. No story, no development, just a teaser if you want to call it that. Hated the cliffhanger and the situation that will come in the full book about Synjon and Petra. Saw it coming as it was obvious as well.

Deles, conhece apenas o nome do pai biológico.

I first met Synjon Wise in the novella Eternal Blood and then really got to know him in Eternal Captive. I’ll be honest with you, for most of that book, I wasn’t really sure that I liked him! But I knew in my heart that he did everything (almost mating Bronwyn) for the love of a friend. Then in the process of trying to rescue Bronwyn, thinking Cruen had kidnapped her, Syn went to Cruen’s laboratory where he found the love of his pre-morphed life; his Juliet. Even though they weren’t true mates, he loved her deeply. He had thought she was dead for a full year. Now he found that Cruen had kept her in a cage, using her, experimenting on her. Syn was enraged. With the help of the Roman brothers he was able to rescue her, only to have Cruen murder her in his arms. He flashed away to the rainforest to give her up to the sun… and just maybe he would follow her.

Petra’s parents were Lion Shifters, but she really wasn’t one of them. Shifters went through their change between the ages of 15-21; she was 24 and it still hadn’t happened to her. There were many small differences between her and her adopted family; she couldn’t see as well as they did, she wasn’t as sure-footed, she couldn’t tolerate raw meat and, well, she didn’t have a heart beat. Her adopted mother knew the name of her true father, but that was all they knew about her. They, as a family, kept her past a secret, hoping her transition would come soon so that she would finally know WHAT she was!

I read on the plane right to the RT Convention a few weeks ago. I knew it was a novella, but man I wanted more!! Laura continues to bring the sexiness and alpha males along for the ride!!
Synjon was a character that from his first appearance had me intrigued. My heart ached and broke when tragedy struck. He was already a damaged man, now he's a broken man! He's given up!

Petra see the damaged and broken man and refuses to let him give up! She will fight for him even if doesnt' fight for himself. The connection is instant. The tension is there from the start. She doesn't quiet understand why that is.

As they get to know each other, the learn about themselves as well and a secret will teat them apart.

Laura has laid out the foundation perfectly for a spin-off series for the MOTV if she decides to head in that direction and if not, the series continues to bring fresh and exciting stories and characters.

This is a novella that falls between book 4 "Eternal Beast" and book 5 "Eternal Demon" and is a prequel to book 6 "Eternal Sin" where we see what happens to Synjon & Petra, so I would suggest reading it in order if not at the very least before book 6. :)
