‘Gaurav Tiwari was a visionary and wanted to do what no one other than him had ever thought of. I have been a fan of his from the moment I got to know about him.’ —Sunil Bohra Producer, Gangs of Wasseypur and Tanu Weds Manu Shocked by the mysterious death of Gaurav Tiwari at the age of thirty-two, acclaimed horror writer Abhirup Dhar contacted the team at Indian Paranormal Society (IPS), founded by the late paranormal investigator, to understand his life and work. This book is the result of the intense conversations that followed. As the IPS team related some of the most spine-chilling cases they had investigated, Abhirup learnt more about Gaurav. And the paranormal. From a parking lot haunted by the ghosts of young children, to Lambi Dehar, filled with the tortured souls of the thousands who had died there; from the unhappy spirits in Mukesh Mills to phantoms in the labyrinths of a court—Gaurav and the IPS team investigated the most haunted places in India. Knowledge cancels fear, Gaurav used to say. It was a motto he lived by and kept in mind as he carried out his investigations, uncovering mysteries of the dead and undead. This is a book for anyone interested in horror, the supernatural and the paranormal, capturing as it does both the incredible life of Gaurav Tiwari as well as his chilling encounters with unearthly beings.
Author of 'Ghost Hunter: Gaurav Tiwari', 'Karma', 'HAUNTINGS', 'Hold That Breath', 'The Belvoirbrooke Haunting', 'Hold That Breath: 2', 'Once Again... With Love!', 'Stories Are Magical' and many more upcoming books.
This was undoubtedly one of the strangest books that I have read. It gives a very brief idea about the life of Gaurav Tiwari and the identity that he had created for himself. We get to know about his first brushes with paranormal. Then we are taken through some seriously harrowing incidents of paranormal phenomena in a non-linear style fusing narratives, dialogues, theories, personal relations, opinions and conclusions. The cases were genuinely creepy. Several of them were weirder than scares provided by fictional accounts. But... I have several issues with these accounts. They clearly establish the professionalism and sincerity on part of Gaurav and I.P.S. They know how to handle equipments and how to conduct the investigations as well as themselves properly. But were they trained to protect themselves? The cases reveal the opposite. Regarding Gaurav's last days, the author has divulged a lot without relying upon unnecessary speculations. If the reader, especially if someone like me— who has gone through mental health issues personally— reads between the lines, the truth can be glimpsed. Imitating life, the book didn’t end neatly. Instead, it left lots of questions, including a very strange account by Allen Tiller. Lots of supposed hauntings apparently end in this fashion only, with the 'cleansing' left to other professionals, about whom nothing was mentioned. I have definitely been impressed by this book. The jarring narrative and creepy descriptions made it a very uncomfortable read. But it provoked lots of questions. That's what a good book is supposed to do, isn't it? Recommended.
Gaurav Tiwari (1984- 2016) is the CEO and founder of the Indian paranormal society. Once while in Florida he experienced things he did not have explanation for. And that made him research this topic and join the ParaNexus Anomalous Research Association. After coming to India he formed India's first professional paranormal team.
After his death, his team at IPS continued Gaurav's work and decided to preserve his legacy by presenting some of his most interesting cases in this book.
This book captures his journey - the paranormal cases he investigated along with his IPS team.... a little about his paranormal research and investigation in Australia... how he helped people connect with their past life and the dead.
This book contains 17 spine chilling cases that he investigated.... from haunted basement parking...to unhappy spirits in Mukesh Mills... to an abandoned haunted village in Rajasthan... to the cursed Khaba fort.
These stories are not uncommon. I mean we all have watched horror shows. So it was nothing new for me. Obviously some stories did give me a little fright. The language is easy and it's a fast paced read. If you want to read about basic paranormal investigation in form of a story you can pick up this book.
There is glossary at the end of the book to understand certain terms used in paranormal investigations.
This book will appeal to those who like to read horror or supernatural.

Author Abhirup Dhar is one of the best author in the horror genre. His writing style makes the book more interesting and engaging. The reading experience was very easy and smooth. I swiftly glided through the pages.
All the investigations recorded are full of horror and mystery of the dead and undead. I found The Mystery of Lambi Dehar and Adelaide Arcade very thrilling, creepy which was getting on my nerves. This book is specially dedicated to readers who are interested in horror, paranormal and supernatural. The encounter with the ghost entity will definitely shock you.
Today it has been raining since morning. Sunday came to me with boisterous winds accompanying drizzles. Unsettle clouds and drizzle pouring down from time to time.. monsoon in a full blown mood today so I was thinking about reading something that fills this ensemble.
A book that complements this weather perfectly, Ghost hunter Gourav Tiwari - the life and legacy of India's foremost paranormal investigator
It's a collection of true stories that emphasizes that spirits or ghosts are real elements, and they are founded by the IPS INVESTIGATING TEAM. This book was written in a candid narrative in a conversation format, which makes it engaging reading for everyone, even for beginners. I was spellbound in every chapter. What they brought out with their high quality technology and trained team, was simply outstanding. This is why it is more interesting to read.
It sheds focus on late Gourav Tiwari's life and some blood chilling cases where he conducted with his team and high quality equipment. Your blood will surely run cold by reading these real life incidents. Some of the incidents were actually real time covered by Zee news and IBN.
I always wanted to read about this awesome man who introduced paranormal investigation in India. In the land of hocus-pocus magic, and non believers in ghost stories, Gourav made a remarkable, breakthrough establishment with his enthusiasm and effort, so I was looking for some things like this book.
Highly recommended this to all who are curious and hungry for knowledge. Fiction lovers or nonfiction lovers, everyone will be enjoy this book.
This author has perfected a ghostly storytelling that will stick in your head for some time! Be prepared to be drawn in from the very beginning, get completely spooked by endless strange experiences and become attached to the main character and his story so much that you forget this is a work of fiction!
Ghost Hunter Gaurav Tiwari is a captivating book that delves into the life and work of the late paranormal investigator, Gaurav Tiwari. Written by acclaimed horror writer Abhirup Dhar, this book offers a mesmerizing account of Gaurav's experiences as a ghost hunter and his encounters with the supernatural.
Dhar's writing style is immersive and atmospheric, transporting readers to the haunted locations described within the book. The detailed accounts of Gaurav's investigations are rich in suspense and create a palpable sense of anticipation. Additionally, the book is well-researched, incorporating historical and cultural context to enhance the reader's understanding of each haunting.
This is a seriously gripping ghost story that really surprised me! The author creates a unique tone with an unforgettable eerie atmosphere which I thought was very clever indeed, something which must have been difficult to pull off so perfectly.
Do you believe in ghosts? Have you encountered one?
While most of us are grappling with dilemma of ghostly existence, there are those passionate about finding the reason behind the unrest of the spirits.
This book is a quick read, engrossing in many ways. In my opinion, more than Gaurav Tiwari as an individual, it is a collection of the paranormal cases that he and his team investigated. As someone who keeps touching upon the topic of paranormal every now and then through books and movies without any intention of getting deeper into it, it definitely made me give some of the cases some thought. It did get monotonous by second half of the book, so I skimmed through the pages in some of the later chapters.
A good book if you are looking to read something when you are travelling, something that doesn’t require hyper focus. I had picked it up at an airport in India for precisely that reason.
Gaurav’s Legacy and works cannot be bound in a 240 page book. It was beyond that. Beyond a few volumes of books for holding a complete legacy. The book did a great job to note a few significant IPS cases and Gaurav’s works. But keeps the readers wanting to know to more about Gaurav and his works. Book is the only way we can know GT now. Abhirup has created a great job in creating a longing among the readers to want to know more about Gaurav and IPS. Will be waiting for new instalments of the book. Would be great if Abhirup ever thinks of writing another.
As a fan of Gaurav, i picked up this book wanting to more about him as a person, his life which I did read- however this book was a series of the cases which have already been discussed in their podcasts or videos ( IPS) yet this book truly took me back to 6th grade when all i wanted to be was a paranormal scientist all after GT.
I also loved the o captain my caption cameo. Loved it.
Based on actual paranormal investigations, this book is an intriguing read. The author has documented Rev. Gaurav Tiwari's legacy very well. The IPS has done a fabulous job. This book should not come under the horror genre because the horror section is mostly about fiction. This is the best non-fiction I've read so far. Very unique read! Definitely recommend.
