"Fighting the Devil" - A True Story of Consuming Passion, Deadly Poison, and Murder is a true story about the murder of a Texas millionaire rancher, who was my ex-husband. I became a crime sleuth to help solve the murder. I wrote the story to speak out for the father of my children as he no longer has a voice. I also wrote the story to tell of the prophetic dreams and signs I had, along with the spine-tingling accounts I experienced of unexplained phenomena and episodes of fighting for my own life with the evil monster from hell that does exist called the devil. Merged review:

There have been stories through the ages about apparitions of dead people appearing to the living.
This is my true story about Thomas, the ghost of a man who was murdered. My encounter with this friendly specter changed my life.
In a way, I was chosen by the victim, himself to tell the story, even though we had never spoken and had never met while he was alive.

“Thomas, The Friendly Ghost” by Jeannie Walker was as strangely easy to read as the strange events in the storyline. This is a lighthearted book for those that like a not so terrifying ghost story. An added benefit is that it can be read in one sitting. The book included whimsical photos and artwork that are the “evidence” of beings from a supernatural world. If you would like a simply written “true story” that traces the events in the author’s life then this book is for you. The writing style did not conjure up the ghosts of Beatrix Potter or Ernest Hemingway but it will please those that want a simple read. If you believe in spirits then you will believe the stories; if not you will not be converted. However, despite the fact that I had rated the book Three Stars, no matter how much I try, my keyboard keeps on typing Four Stars. Thomas, are you there?

Having already read another of Jeannie Walker’s books, Fighting the Devil, which is an award winning true crime story about the arsenic murder of her ex-husband, I was interested in some of her other works. Noticing a title that brought back memories of Casper, the Friendly Ghost, I downloaded Thomas, the Friendly Ghost, also by Walker. It’s the true account of her personal experiences with a friendly, yet mischievous ghost who seems to be her Guardian Angel. It's apparent from this book and Fighting the Devil that Walker is a very spiritual person and has a special sensitivity to paranormal phenomena. It is a quick, easy read that includes personal photos and amusing drawings. In the book are several references to another of her books, I Saw the Light, which I wish I had read before this one. So I would recommend reading that one first, although this book works quite well as a stand-alone book. Recommended for those who want to avoid reading about frightening, terrifying ghosts, but would like to read a true story about a benevolent ghost.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when reading Thomas, the Friendly Ghost, since the title immediately reminded of “Casper, the Friendly Ghost.” The title also clued me in to the fact that this story was not going to be along the lines of The Amityville Horror. For those that haven’t read Walker’s other books or don’t know much about ghosts, angels, and the other side, the author offers some background information.

Perhaps to get readers in the mood to hear more about Thomas, there are some introductory ghost stories presented in the beginning of the story, for the paranormal enthusiast. I wasn’t sure I liked the images in the book, as it was a bit unusual; however, as the story continued, I found myself looking forward to the black and white photos or drawings.

This story moves extremely quickly and is an enjoyable read. Walker claims to be skeptical about the existence of ghosts or angels at the onset of the story, but maybe that’s because she didn’t want to admit it to those around her. She is able to talk openly about her supernatural experiences with those around her and with us, the reader.

By the end of the book, I really felt how strong her connection with Thomas was. I have to admit I also felt envious that I don’t have an attractive being watching over me and directing my life. I keep asking for one. Maybe he’ll show up now that I’ve finished this book. In the end, this story will leave you with the warm fuzzies.

Story descriptions with the words ‘ghost’ and ‘true story’ in them have me hooked before I even start reading them, so I was thrilled when I found Thomas, The Friendly Ghost by Jeannie Walker. In fact, I downloaded it on my kindle and read it that night. It follows a number of events that Walker went through in her life where she encountered ghosts / spirits, and most importantly, how she finally met Thomas. By the end it was so obvious Thomas was always meant to have be in her life. He kept close and protected her. Some of the scenes in her apartment had me tense, especially when she was left alone and those things that lived in the basement seemed to come out.
This is a simple, straightforward short story, which was easy to follow and read. Walker’s many recounts and stories with the ghostly kind kept me reading to the end. I wanted to know what Thomas was about, why he was helping her, and the ending was wonderful. Thank you for sharing your story, Jeannie.

I am going to read this just as soon as it comes out in paperback. But, if it is anything like Jeannie Walker's other books...I know I will love it.
