One wrong choice deserves another. And another and another…
Shot down, stranded and assumed dead, Jimmy faces his greatest struggle yet.
His instinct will save him. Or destroy him.
Betrayal is explosive.
The Times (London): "Despite the search for the next Anthony Horowitz or JK Rowling, children’s publishers often fail to realise when they have struck gold. They pump money into solemn, literary offerings by established authors which no normal child is going to hanker after and leave the rip-roaring read to fend for itself. Joe Craig is a case in point. His Jimmy Coates series is about a twelve-year-old boy, who thinks he is normal until he discovers that he is only 38 per cent human. Scientists have manipulated genetics to grow Jimmy into something that will become an assassin, “designed to reach active service capability” once he is 18... "Like Anthony Horowitz’s splendid fantasies, they tap into almost everything a bolshy boy wants and feels. Immensely clever, immediately engaging, they will prepare a child for Orwell and Huxley... Pure gold for boys who have read everything by Anthony Horowitz — or have not been able to tackle him yet."
Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA): “The perfect primer to the Bourne series by Robert Ludlum.”
Red House Children’s Book Award: “A stimulating thriller that kept everyone enthralled.”
INIS: “…an immensely entertaining espionage thriller for young readers… Most importantly, this novel is quite simply fantastic fun to read, and will keep many readers aged 10+ entranced for hours.”
Award-winning author Joe Craig writes novels and movies. Thanks to his bestselling Jimmy Coates thrillers he is now considered "one of the best spy kids authors... outstanding at both writing and plotting" (The Times, London) alongside Anthony Horowitz, Charlie Higson and Robert Muchamore.
He lives in London with his wife (broadcaster & adventurer Mary-Ann Ochota), his dog (Harpo the labradonkey) and his dwarf crocodile (Professor Sven). www.joecraig.co.uk @joecraiguk
11-year-old Jimmy's adventure saga continues. He has amazing adventures similar to the "Mission Impossible" movie series. The action is non-stop throughout the book. I still think this series would be exciting for the audience of perhaps 12-18. The lines between good and evil continue to be black and white. The dystopian "Neo-Democratic" Britain's leaders and supporters are power-greedy and without conscience.
I would be interested to see what this author could write for an older audience as well. He has a great imagination.
I thought this book was pretty good except everything in this series is becoming repetitive. I'm not sure if I really want to read the next book because this one wasn't all that different than the previous books.
i have read this book a very long time ago and i find this the best book ever made on the world i loved this book so much i dreamed of being the charector and whished i lived in his world and was like him the best book ever
This is a decent YA adventure type novel; I started reading the series after I'd finished the Alex Rider books. This series isn't as dark nor as deep, but it's fun.
- The storyline of this book was great, and I enjoyed reading it, although it took me a while. After the reading the other two I got a bit tired of the "programming taking over" drama, and it wasn't quite as interesting as the others. There are 10+ books in the series, and I don't think I'm going to commit to finding all the others and reading them all, although I might if I see them somewhere. - I would recommend this book to people who like adventure, spy, and science fiction.
A good book, a mix of Bond and crime! I found this book really good, and i would recommend it to everyone, not only boys, but girls as well! Happy Reading everyone :)
