I don’t normally log on Good Reads the children’s books we read, but my son loves this book so much so we will post our favorites. We keep renewing this book from the library because we have to read it every night! The story is fun, surprising and different from other beach tales. The kids also really love the illustrations.

A cute, rhyming story about a boy who thinks he sees a monster out beyond the breakers at his beach. When some naughty triplets disregard the lifeguard and swim out far, they are rescued by this monster. Which turns out to be not a monster at all, but an inflatable toy.

Monster Beach is a wonderful picture book with beautiful poetry. It is fun to read with kids with delightful pictures. I have used it in a classroom to teach rhyming, vocabulary, and reading. It is also fun for kids to read and to look through. I loved the book and wish I could find a copy.

Too long for the very young. May be able to use for a 2-yr old group if nearer to 3s.
