Classic quest, betrayal and redemption themes make the finale to Jason D. Morrow’s Marenon Chronicles truly enjoyable. Slow and occasionally repetitious writing, with occasional typos and missed edits, make the tale less than perfect, but the story moves well, plot and counter-plot are well-imagined, and the various loves and mistakes of earlier books round out to build more convincing characters, human flaws and all. Readers and characters learn together that actions have consequences, moral failures do count, and quick decisions aren’t always the best—wise lessons enjoyably told in an epic fantasy world.

Disclosure: I was given free ecopies of these three books by the author and I’m sorry it took so long to read them. I enjoyed them all.

I enjoyed both of the first books immensely. The final book in the trilogy was very good, but I feel it was the weakest of the three. I wanted more detail, more character development, and more "what happens now" answers. Perhaps the set up was to write more books in the series, but I felt the end was rushed. I still recommend the trilogy and would be interested to hear what you think about the 3rd book.

Marenon - Reckoning

The story comes to a climatic resolution as our heroes take the fight for Marenon to the evil Stühocs. All of the loose ends get tied up nicely as everything comes together. This was an enjoyable, fast paced saga that is over before you know it. It is a shame that it doesn't seem to be available any longer.

When I first started this series I knew I was in trouble! It hooked me into it after just the first chapter. I devoured the first 2 books in no time at all and the last one, The Reckoning, as well. If you're a lover of adventurous fantasy tales with lots of twists and turns you need to read this series!

This was the final book of the trilogy and I always have high hopes for the ending book and Jason did not disappoint. Not only was this book a fantastic read, but it was very very easy to ready. It flew by. I have been in a reading slump for the last few months and this book tore me right out of it.

Jason continued with his wonderful characters and rich worlds. I have loved the plot of this book from the beginning and it only got better with the third installment. Silas and his friends have finally tracked down all the medallions that are needed to bring peace to Marenon and now it is time for them to wage war against the Stuhocs to bring that peace about. Jason does a wonderful job of painting the picture of the epic war for Marenon. You feel like you are flying along with Alric or you are fighting off the soldiers of the dead. While all that is going on you are also immersed in the individual battles the Silas is having along the way. I love how the book goes back and forth from the overall war to the individual battles. Some authors struggle to make those transitions and it just turns out sloppy, but not so with Jason. He does this very well.

This book is full of twists and turns when it comes to Silas as the finisher of the reckoning and Silas the person. I guarantee you won't see the end coming. If you are a lover of the fantasy genre then this trilogy is a must read for you. I have to thank Jason for giving me the opportunity to read these books. It has been a joy for me.

Last book of Marenon Chronicles and the my favorite one too.

Jason Morrow continued his easy writing to the 3rd book, and this one goes even faster. Full of excitement, it keeps you at the end of your sit waiting to see how will it end. Full of surprises and a wonderful ending too. I said it before and i will say it again, the all happy ending, everyone is happy is not necessarily the right ending for a story, and i'm really happy the author knows that. I mean it's a freaking war, not everyone can be happy at the end. There are casualties and sacrifices to be made!

Silas has turned into a magnificent man. Mature, brave, clever and still a teen who understands his part in the world and what must be done. I liked him before, but i loved him as a character here. And not the "oh he is so cute and awesome" but i respect him as a person. They way he thinks and acts. I got to know him so well, while he grew up and i'm quite happy on how he turned out.

At the previous book i really hated Julian. Finally, he find his sense and he becomes a great man like at the first book. There are consequences for his action before, but he finally see his mistakes and tries to fix what he can.

A beautiful ending for the Marenon Chronicles with many twists but exactly what the story needed at the end. I only wish, the author would have taken more time with his scenes and some of the events. It could have easily be good with double its size.

The Reckoning is the third book of the Marenon Chronicles.
The book follows the continued progress of Silas, Julian, Kaden, Alric, and more as they fight to defeat the Stühoc army and their evil leader Anithistor.
The book begins in a flash back in time to give you a little extra knowledge but then jumps back to where the second book in the series left off.
The story continues on being written in multiple points of view, transitioning from one groups adventure to the next.
The book is full of exciting combat action scenes. The suspense in this book was perfect, I found myself so excited with the story that all outside interruptions were highly annoying. Dinner? Who needs food right now (!) Let me read!
I have to admit that the ending of the second book was not my favorite as I find cliff hangers to be frustrating. I will say that the ending to this book was deeply satisfying.
The land of Marenon and its people have taken on life in my mind and heart. I know this is a series that I will re-read over the years.
This is a series that is just so good that it calls to be shared, and so I have shared my copy with my son and recommend it to all my friends.
I recommend this book (series) to High Fantasy, Suspense, Mystery fiction book lovers.

When Book 3 arrived on my doorstep, I couldn't wait to dive right in. I wanted to be back in Marenon, with the Dunarians, Erellens, and Stuhocs. I'm going to try and not give any spoilers here, because you just need to go read it yourself. I think what I really loved about Book 3 was that we got more backstory on the sleepers, Judoc, and the Stuhocs. Finding out where they came from really helped in bringing the whole story together. The ending though, completely took me by surprise! I didn't expect the Sleeper Damon to be who he was. I loved the book ending though. There was just enough sadness to make it realistic (in a fictional sense of real).
Jason has done a wonderful job at creating a new world alongside this world we call Earth. It has been an absolute joy to read. I will be on the lookout for more books by Jason D Morrow.

This was an epic end to a great series. This is one of those books or series that you simply never want to end. However the end to this book is extremely satisfying and I would read the entire series again.

Definitely the best of the three books in the Marenon Chronicles. Its not a bad read. Its not great.

Its a really good story. But it could have been easier and more pleasant to read. The writing style did not work for me.

Fantastic culmination to the trilogy. Questions answered, sadly some deaths and failed romances. Great story and will look out for more of this authors writing.

I enjoyed the way the series was all wrapped up in this final book. It wasn't cheesy or formulaic. There was plenty of action still going on and nothing sappy.
