I have always loved Morgan Rice's books. They are always very difficult for me to put down because I just have to know what will happen next. Morgan does a wonderful job at being descriptive and letting you feel like you are in the book with the characters. But, oh poor Scarlet. Honestly, if being a teenager wasn't tough enough on a kid, try going through it and changing into a vampire too! Between wanting to feed on your boyfriend, mean girls, and best friends feeling betrayed Scarlet is exhausted and feels she has no one left to turn to. Her parents are to much to handle, Vivian is constantly trying to either verbally or physically abuse Scarlet, and when Maria finds out that Sage has chosen Scarlet over her, Scarlet loses her best friend.
Poor Caitlin and Caleb, as if raising a teenager doesn't come with its own set of challenges, lets add one parent who believes she was a vampire once, and another that thinks that his wife has lost her mind. Caitlin is off to Paris to attempt to find the other half of the ritual that could possibly save Scarlet, if she doesn't feed first. Caleb feels like Caitlin has walked out on him and Scarlet at the most critical time. When Scarlet sneaks out Caleb has had enough, and when Vivian tells him that Blake offered Scarlet drugs, Caleb is convinced he is right, it is drugs with Scarlet.
Scarlet decides that she has nothing more to lose and decides to runaway with Sage, but this only ends in disaster.....

- Scarlet proves herself to be not only a superficial brat but also a hypocrite on numerous occasions. Highlights include:
~ being offended that someone ugly dares to speak to her
~ blaming Blake for being upset that she turned away in revulsion after he kissed her, and then being upset that Sage did the same thing to her
- There is an overly long paragraph extolling the virtues and general attractiveness of Scarlet's English teacher
- Scarlet hears her friend Maria swallow from across the room. Is this because of vampirism?
- Sage decides to doom his entire people all because Scarlet is hot
- Lore, Sage's cousin, is basically just TVD season 1 Damon Salvatore except I think he's blond
- Most of this was just petty drama about who's going with who to the school dance. This dance isn't like Homecoming or Prom, by the way. It's a Halloween dance
- Caleb crashes a teen party to harass Scarlet's friends because she's too much of a selfish brat to consider the feelings of her parents and flees out the window to save face with her friends even though she recently disappeared for over a day and returned—as stated in last book's review—naked with amnesia. Caleb concludes that Blake is a drug pusher and that Scarlet is on drugs
-Blake, though not actually a drug pusher, is a limp noodle of a man. He's easily swayed by Vivian's wiles and proves to have no backbone
- Caitlin gets on a plane to Paris without explaining herself to Caleb and without even knowing where Scarlet is to say goodbye. Scarlet never knows that her mom left the country.
- Caleb pulls a 180° and goes from "I want a divorce" behavior to "I support you in all things, my darling" over the course of a single exposition paragraph

This is like all of the other Vampire Journal books. Lots of teenage drama and lots of editing errors. I use the term editing but that assumes anyone even attempted to do it. That assumption is likely misguided.
Despite my comments above, I do enjoy the story. Scarlet is evolving into a vampire which her mother is aware of. Caitlin has gone to Paris to find the book from which a torn page has been discovered. The page might help her save Scarlet and reverse this vampire thing.
Meanwhile Scarlet is fighting with the popular girl crowd and Vivian in particular regarding Blake who likes her and not Vivian. She also ends up fighting with her best friend regarding another boy Sage who likes her. sage is an inmortalist. He has lived 2,000 years already and will die, along with his family, unless he obtains a necklace from Scarlet willingly. Then Scarlet must die.
The adventure culminates with Scarlet being taken by a recently released con who wants to have his way with her. She wants to have her way with him.
Not the most thought provoking novel but a good story which should have been edited and combined into one book.

As always Morgan's books are never a let down, they always make you feel like you are right there in there with the characters.
I am currently on the 11th book I started reading a book every 2 weeks but I got told to slow down so I have been making them take months.
Anyway I highly recommend these books to anyone. (interested in vampires)

Her father is in denial, her mother is looking for all possible options to help her daughter.

Interesting Read
Good book series and it is good to watch the characters a evolve. My only issue is that every female love upset has the female character jumping to conclusions and acting irrationally.

This one felt more cliche. Maybe i just dont have patience for a character learning nothing about themselves for books, not chapters. I roll my eyes every time I hear, "All of a sudden, she felt a surge within her. So strong. Like nothing she'd ever felt before..."

Morgan Rice does it again ...
This series is fascinating and addicting. Morgan Rice is so talented. I loved everything about this book. Can’t wait to read the next one!!

¿Por dónde empezar? Honestamente solo sigo la saga porque ya casi la termino y todo el arco de Caitlin fue muy bueno, tuvo sus altos y bajos y también algunos libros medio monótono, pero estaban entretenidos y los giros de trama o los finales con cliffhanger que suele hacer Morgan Rice te dejan con ganas de más.
El Lore Vampirico que se plantea es interesante y de hecho me agrado mucho. Soy fan de leer versiones distintas de las criaturas sobrenaturales, así que en eso estamos muy bien con la historia.
El problema realmente surge con el arco de Scarlett, no puedo negarlo más...lo detesto, es una adolescente re superficial y no puedes evitar compararla con la Caitlin adolescente que aunque era medio tonta, su hija es peor. Realmente sus capítulos me exasperan y creo que poca atención les presto cada vez más.
No se que deparen los últimos libros, pero auguro un final cortante o abierto, lo cual me decepcionaría. Ya que están pasando muchas cosas a la vez.
Ejemplo de eso es la vuelta de varios personajes y lo que hizo Scarlett al final del libro.
Igual detesto como ha cambiado a Caleb, nada que ver con el Caleb de los primeros libros. Sam y Polly son apenas mencionados y a Blake siempre le ponen la peor parte...y eso realmente me sobrepasa ya que el merece cosas buenas...pero hasta aquí o tiro spoilers a diestra y siniestra y no es el caso.
En resumen...irónicamente la "redención" de Caitlin y la participación de Sage es lo único que me mantiene para terminar la historia (y que ya solo faltan 2 libros). Pero si este fuera el primer libro, creo que ya lo habría dejado y vaya que yo nunca he abandonado un libro. ¿Lo recomiendo? Triste decir esto, pero no a menos que te gusten los dramas de pubertos y algo tipo gossip girl. ¿Estoy ansiosa por el siguiente libro? Sí, pero no por emoción, sino porque ya quiero terminar esto.

Scarlet really freaks out over her changing into a vampire. Her friends turn againist her. Her dad is furious at her behavior. Her mom is gone on her search for the cure, then when she does it's too late (of course). Then there's trouble with Sage.
I like this one better than the first. Maybe because I've gotten to know the characters now, but there also seems to be less teenage angst, more supernatural stuff.
Favorite part: Sage explaining to Scarlet about the Immortalists.

Desperate to read more..but alas the book ended here in between.Waiting to read the next book in the series...Happy that Caleb was back to Caitlin's rescue,but was disappointed in losing the old Caleb(Mighty,Strengthy one..).Sage,as usual wonderful.Scarlet great,Blake seriously he stood up at last but it was of no use..The return of Kyle brings in some new unexpected twists in the story..Hope the next book also keeps us waiting eagerly for the story..

I have read all the books from 1 to 10, I can't wait to get from one to the next , I couldn't stop . I love all of these books they had so much adventure ,travel, romance ,history . I am about to download number 11 and can't wait to finish that. I hope I don't have to wait too long for number 12 . Thank you for writing such a great series loved it . This is the second book in the series. I'm totally enthralled with Scarlett. While yes, this series has be compared with Twilight, Scarlett is not emo chatacter you would expect. she has a mind of her own. Yes, she is a typical teenager, but you find yourself cheering for her as she makes decisions for herself. I am anxiously awaiting the next book. My only wish is that they were longer.

The book was good, I do like Morgan Rice. The only thing was for me was the typos and some words left out. I have the kindle fire and that version was pretty bad for the text part. I am looking forward to the next book though!

Ok, so I enjoy vampire romance novels but come on. These two books were really tough to get through. Happy I didn't purchase them or I would have been really ticked that I wasted my money. Instead, I wasted my time which is much more valuable.

Well here I am again. I thought I would give this series the old college try, but I think this is as far as I go. It's terrible. I give two stars because it's an easy read and a few parts are actually good, very descriptive and paints a good picture.

OK have to say I like this one the best. Rice seems to have hit her stride in this book. The books from the first series I thought are written by a young girl. These last two show growth as a writer. I am looking forward to number 11.
