Uday, her married friend, based in Amsterdam, thinks differently. Strongly attracted to her, he cajoles her to give in to him; for her own good, he claims. Denying the body is wrong and unnatural in his view. But Anamika believes her latest find, Shekhar, a MNC professional, is getting serious about her and will soon propose. She waits it out, supported by her two chums Mohini, a divorcee who has affairs as a matter of necessity, and Preeti, a careerist, now seeking marriage desperately. But Shekhar seems in no hurry to commit. Uday meanwhile steps up his pursuit with frequent mails and calls. Anamika is in a dilemma. Should she nail down Shekhar? Or should she finally accept Uday's proposition and venture into the unknow.

It's a story of a single woman, Anamika Ghosh, an academician who is an intellectul and devoid of the actual experiance of romance and physical pleasure yet in her life. She wanted a commited relationship leading to marriage but goes through some brief relationships as interludes inadvertently with various friends which doesn't bring her any satisfaction or closure. She reliazed that only mental stimulation or intellectulity or just physical gratification for the sake of it, are not enough to satisfy the soul as a separate entity but one has to have a synchronicity of heart, mind and body as one, to find true content and bliss in anything.
Ultimately, she finds her own freedom revealing in her own interest that fulfills her heart and emotions. The author is a veteran journalist and puts her thoughts and emotions justly and very aptly, playing with words like harmonica in sync with her own feelings. The book was inugurated/launched by yet another veteran, a charming star, actress, Vidhya Balan. I liked reading the book. 3 stars for 'unhooked'.

I really was a great page turner. I like it, as this book is very thoroughly researched about sexually. Everything is mentioned clear and bold. Every word is nicely written and well researched. I think the main central theme of this book is 'Can there be sex without love'. It also dwells you into the thoughts of finding true happiness and inner satisfaction.

The story revolves around the girl named Anamika who is muddled as to how and where can she actually find true happiness and inner satisfaction. Intellectual men stimulates her more than their appearance or personality .
There comes a time when she starts doubting her worth in terms of her looks and appearance because of perpetual rejection by men she was once intellectually engrossed into. Anamika is in her 30s and she wants to get married to somebody who she feels is appropriate for her. Living in the scenario where everyone's engaged into all sorts of casual relationship ,Anamika wonders if sex or marriage can only provide her imminent happiness or satisfaction but as she moves forward towards the experiment she realises that sexual intimacy without love cannot give her immense pleasure or joy only if mind is indulged in it ,it's the heart that also has to collaborate in terms of happiness to accumulate immense happiness, pleasure and joy .
