Scarred from a battle they barely survived, Larissya and her companions embark on a journey that will take them far away from everything they have ever known. Determined to find the source of her powers, Larissya retraces the ancient path through the stars. It is a path that will lead them into the unknown. Into danger. Into a place where magic flows like blood.
I have been writing science fiction and fantasy stories for many years. My writing has an edge to it. I enjoy exploring the dark and surreal landscapes of the mind.
My first fantasy novel, The Crystal Warrior, has just been released. I am currently working on book two in the series.
I also have a science fiction collection called Skin of Giants.
I grew up in Washington State, went to college in New Mexico, and now live in Minnesota. I am an Engineering Consultant (nerd) for a large retail corporation during the day, and a fiction writer / musician at night.
I live in the suburbs, just north of Minneapolis, with one wife (dancer), one kid (boy), and two cats (fat).
I do not tell the story here. That's what the book is for. I tell what I liked or disliked about the story, etc.
I reviewed book one of Legends of the Crystals and was taken into a world created by Mr. Cooley's imagination which is further expanded in book two Crystal Origins. In this one, he takes us to the planet from where the crystals were manufactured by creatures from his very vivid imagination. The trip to the planet Erdii III takes almost a year of traveling while the characters get to know each other better and a new character is discovered. Upon arrival more questions are asked than answered. The Unat greet them cordially and allow them free reign of their planet, unafraid. But Larissya is wary as are the rest of her traveling companions. They eventually get to the bottom of the story of this planet with several twist throughout the story, more than enough to keep me reading and interested. I enjoyed the story of the Origins and look forward to the next installment of the Crystals. 4 stars!
I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. We are not related or acquainted.
I jumped right into this book after finishing the first and had a hard time putting it down. I read almost the whole thing the first night. It's science fiction/fantasy unlike anything I've ever read before. Some extremely brilliant concepts in this book - I just love the way this author's mind works. If you like sci-fi/fantasy and are tired of the same old thing, try this one out. Eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.
