I stumbled upon this authors work after she left me a 1 star review. I downloaded her work expecting to see none of what I was criticized about. I am not a petty person so I read the book really trying not to be biased and get a honest feel for her style of writing. I have two different opinions of the novel. No, its not a horribly bad novel but I don't feel its oh my god a must read novel either. Maybe to the women who tire of men and just jump on the bandwagon then yes I would recommend highly. At the beginning, when first reading the novel I immediately started to notice how poorly it was edited. She mixed up character names, misspelled words, improperly used words, grammar and punctuation was off. These issues were fluent in the beginning within the first couple of short stories but it was corrected as you moved on to other short stories. The issues came back but not as heavily as before. The book became predictable at one point where I could guess what was going to happen in the next short story, or how a short story would end. Some slang I did not understand like juvie? I had to guess what that meant. There's more I didn't like but there is no need to elaborate and keep going on. You can decide for yourself if you like it or not its free after all. But as an author I got the point she was trying to bring across with the book. I like how she provided a short story for all the labels in our community no matter what you are labeled as. I like the awareness she is bringing with this novel. Would I recommend? I would to battered women or women who are in bad situations that could turn worse. Would I read something from this author again? Probably not. I was just curious to see if what I was criticized over would be found in her book. Honestly, I expected more. I thought I was going to pick up and learn some things but I was disappointed. I felt myself correcting her book as I went along. Maybe if I read a compelling sample or a friend recommended it maybe then I would check it out. But at this point no. I do wish the author success.

In honor of Proposition 8 going before the Supreme Court, I decided to dedicate the month of April to reading LGBT books. This one was the first that I stumbled upon. I read other reviews on the book, as I usually do, before diving into this one. Some complain about the violence in the book. Initially, I had the same reaction. However, if you read it closely, the author is teaching a vital lesson here. Domestic violence within the LGBT commmunity is real and often overlooked. Those in such relationships should not feel that since they are same-sex that it is an equal playing field and that it wasn't that serious. That's what I took from that.

Also, I loved the fact that the title could not have been better chosen. This book is actually a collection of stories. Each story is that of a different woman. Every single lesbian relationship/encounter/perspective/desires that you can think of is in this book. I'm an avid believer that we are weak as a people because of all our self-division. This book nails this as well. A few characters question the point of labels (stud, femme, tranny, etc.); I loved that it went that deep.

Furthermore, I love how this book reads. It reads like a diary. Each story sounds so real. All of the lesbian-oriented books that I've ever read (excluding Anais Nin), are allll erotic. I know that is not all that being a lesbian consists of and I'm grateful that a contemporary author has finally captured the reality of such romances.

Again, I enjoyed it and recommend it to all--even if simply for a deeper understanding into this lifestyle.

I started reading this book during the pandemic in 2020 and dropped it due to my not being able to stomach the subject matter presented, at that time. I decided to pick it up again in December 2023.

The stories are both captivating and ratchet - guilty pleasure. I appreciate the focus on the intricacies and complexity of queer femme and butch relationships. The editing is poorly executed however with elementary typos and misspelt words which gave the project an unpolished feel to it. Otherwise, I think Harrell has tremendous imagination and I would love to read more of her edited and properly proofed work in future.

The very first novella that I was introduced to by author Christiana Harrell opened me to a whole new meaning of the LGBT community! Since fifteen I have tried to find my way in the "real" LGBT world and this collection of stories writes out every real life story for me! Nothing like what people speculate or what is altered on the t.v screen! There are favorites of course, but one thing for sure is that there isn't one dull story at all!! It doesn't just pull in the LGBT community either, it turns pages for straight readers too! The most closed minded people will definitely be surprised at what they find as they walk through the pages of this book! I would recommend it to anyone! Pick it up NOW!

This book has everything in each of the short stories-love, murder, and re-awakening of one's desire for another. This is my first time reading this author so I would be interested in reading her other books.

4 stars. This was at times a really tough collection of short stories to get through. Very intriguing and different. They’re raw and dramatic and there’s no lovey dovey things in this. It’s gritty and while it was a bit much times it was still overall a good read. Not every story was a hit for me but for the most part these were interesting and kept me hooked.

The title holds true, everyone can relate to a story in here but they aren't stories that will stick with you unfortunately.

Girl

This is a book of short stories basically about lesbian women and their "coming into their own" moments. Like their is one Girl who was in a domestic violence situation. One who realized she could be a stud in love with a stud etc. A few errors but pretty good stories
