You don’t have to be afraid when you read my books. Well—you might be terrified for the hero, because his arch-nemesis has him at gunpoint with his back to the river Thames, demanding that he hand over the code that could spell the downfall of Europe… But you’ll never have to squint, worrying that the romantic scene is about to get FAR too steamy—or that, in a tirade, someone is about to spew a stream of obscenities that will make you want to shut the book and go take a shower. I don’t write sexual scenes in my books. EVER. And I do not use profanity. EVER. And yes, God lives in my stories. He is the deep foundation—you can FEEL Him. Yet, I can prove without a shadow of a doubt that WITHOUT ANYTHING risqué, you can still have the adventure of a lifetime between these pages. You’ll hold your breath, you’ll laugh, you’ll sit on the edge of your chair, you’ll stay up till two in the morning pinned to the page—and you might even cry. In fact, I’ll bet on that. And I HATE it when writers are lazy and tacky and beat you over the head with some philosophical or theological point they’re trying to make, instead of just TELLING THE STORY. So, I avoid that at all costs. Still not sold? Well, give one of these books a try. Go ahead—any of them! Whether we’re speeding through space, breaking through the ice on a frozen river, galloping on a chariot across the desert or running up the Asbru bridge chased by wolves…you’re still safe with me.

I learned about this piece of fan fiction from an avid book reader who said this was one of the most beautiful pieces of fiction they’d ever read. Admittedly, I’m not one to shy away from a good fan fic, and I’m already a fan of Loki in the MCU so this story was hard to resist.
At over 116k words and 27 chapters it reads like a fully fledged out book. The author created their own story while carefully weaving in references from the comics, the first Thor movie, and poems and songs from the modern day. Imagine my surprise to read the lyrics from “Gollum’s Song” to start chapter five!
This story was stunning. I felt all of the tension that comes with a slow-burn romance. I laughed and I cried. I really felt for these characters. At no point did it feel like the story was stalling just to stall. Everything fit together well and the pace was easy to keep up with.
If I had my way, I would have loved the ending to include just a bit more about Jane’s life on earth and what happens from there. Either way, this has become a favorite of mine and I’ll likely want to re-read it not long from now.

So I'm embarrassed to admit that I've read a lengthy MCU Loki romance fic, since I don't want to be considered among the more crazy fangirls... but I did read this, back in 2017. I'm not typically a reader of romance fics (with one major exception that I've been following for two years 'cause I live for Steggy), but Loki is one of my favorite MCU characters, so... >.>
'Twas a good fanfic! The characterization is overall done very well, and her writing style is very good. And it was quite awesome/interesting to have Christian belief on the Asgardians' part, as well as all the mentions of LotR. XD
A few characters' portrayals were occasionally ever-so-slightly off, IMO, from what I can remember. Like, what little we see of Natasha in this fic was based off her IM2 portrayal, which made for a pretty OOC moment. And Loki himself is, of course, portrayed with sympathy, but is pretty in-character for the most part, from what I can recall. There were also some additions/expansions to Loki and Asgardians' magic that I didn't always like, but whatever.
So, um, yeah. It was a good read in that guilty-pleasure kind of way. (This isn't saying that the content was inappropriate, 'cause it wasn't! It was pretty much squeaky clean.) I'm honestly very impressed by the author's ability to turn out a fanfic of such overall quality within such a short time after the release of Thor, and finish it within three months!
I haven't read the sequels, but maybe I will eventually. >.>
Fallen Star follows the story of Loki after he falls from the shattered Rainbow Bridge at the end of Thor. It is an alternate look at what could have befallen Loki had he landed on earth, and had he met Jane Foster.
Alydia Rackham has an incredibly captivating style of writing, and Fallen Star, in my opinion, is one of her best. Very gifted in the art of capturing the style of pre-made characters like Loki, Thor, Jane Foster, and others, she supplies her own twists to the culture of the worlds and fleshes out the relationships between the characters.
And her writing! There are only a few stories that truly catch the essence of betrayal, heartbreak, bitterness, love, softening, and forgiveness. I rarely cry reading books, but hers broke me at the end. Taking characters and fixing and repairing them with that kind of skill is a very rare talent.
A read I would most heartily recommend. You won't regret it.
Fallen Star begins just as Loki falls from the Asgardian Bifrost in the Marvel movie, Thor. Landing - rather hard - in New Mexico was not what he had in mind. Being found by Dr. Jane Foster and Darcy wasn't either. Loki hides his identity and attempts to heal in enough time to investigate a mysterious, powerful cube nearby. This cube could be just what he needs to return to Asgard and get revenge. Nothing will stand in his way...unless he decides to change his path.
I love Alydia Rackham's fanfiction so much that I bought both of her original works. Fallen Star is beautifully written and captivating. The popular faces from the Thor movie are kept in character and allowed to grow. I highly recommend this work even if you hate fanfiction. If you loved the movie, you will love this.
Absolutely loved this fanfiction. Really indepth look at Loki as a character, obviously more plausable because it's book length and not a film. Loved the interaction between Jane and Fenris (*wink*). Can't wait to read more by this author. Had me reading just one more chapter (!) all the time. Had me laughing and crying, cringing and panicking. Loved it.
I found it by chance, while surfing on the internet and I adored it! Literally! I loved each and every line of it! Inspiring, mesmerising... it's mere perfection.
I will never ever stop loving this story. I've read it three times and will again! It is amazing at every stage, every well-spoken chapter. The progression is smooth as a story. The backstory fills out the ongoing tale wonderfully. It is a movie to my brain. I love it! Lokane forever!
