Crossed Wires #2

Claiming Her Cowboy

Rate this book
Flying halfway ’round the world to meet his potential soul mate sounds like a fine idea to Dylan–until he discovers said soul mate, Annie, has gone looking for him. In Australia. Now Dylan’s adrift, a bloke from the Outback alone in the big city. Until he’s rescued by Monet, a gorgeous local artist and Annie’s best friend.

A dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker, Monet has never met anyone like Dylan. Taking temporary care of the sizzling-hot cowboy is easy; he’s friendly, funny, and interesting. Keeping her hands off him is decidedly not easy. That accent, that killer grin, and as a successful artist, Monet is very much a hands-on sort of girl.

An Aussie cowboy doesn’t belong in New York any more than a city girl belongs in the Outback. If only their hearts would listen.

4 1/2 Real Man Stars for the Delicious Dylan!!! RAWRRRRR!!

“I’m a stockman, not a cowboy. Haven’t been a boy since my balls dropped and I started shaving. And I’m just here to seduce the beautiful women on your side of the pond. Show them what a real man is like.”

Book 2 in this fun series, follows Dylan Sullivan as he heads to NYC to meet Annie, the woman he believes is his soul-mate. Only when he gets there, he finds out Annie is on her way to Australia to find him. Dylan is temporarily taken in by Annie’s best friend Monet, while he waits for his lost luggage, and it has him re-thinking just who his soul-mate might really be.

This book mirrors the timeline of Misplaced Princess, and while Dylan’s twin, Hunter, is at home in the Australian Outback entertaining and falling for Annie, he finds himself falling head over heels for Monet.

Dylan and Monet connected so beautifully and even though it was fast, a matter of days… actually hours, the authors made it feel so right! The heart wants what it wants. No over the top drama between them, just two people from different worlds finding each other, and for a few days, living in a world of their own…albeit, a very hot steamy world!

I loved the witty banter rich with Australian lingo! It added so much to the story and really painted a vivid picture of both characters and their interactions!

Monet blinked, her cheeks filling with the delightful blush Dylan truly enjoyed.

“Feeling like what?”

“A shag on a rock.” Then realization smacked into him. “I mean, out of place. Sorry. Bloody hell, I didn’t mean I wanted a…on a…fuck, I mean… Oh Jesus.” He ground his teeth, drew a breath, counted to five and started again, far too aware of the sudden stares he was getting from around the gallery. “A shag is a type of water bird that always perches alone on rocks with its wings spread. It usually stands out like dog’s balls—” Heat flooded Dylan’s face. He pressed a hand to his eyes, cursing his stupidity. You really don’t belong here, mate.

Monet burst out laughing, the relaxed sound echoing around the gallery. “Dylan, talking to you is by far the most educational, visual experience of my life.”

For me too Monet! Monet never judged Dylan, she accepted who he was, what he was, and embraced it all, and I loved that about her. I enjoyed seeing NYC through Dylan’s eyes; it was fun and surreal, made me see the city differently. The innocence and fascination from this grown man was utterly charming!

The ending was perfect, but since it completed the Sullivan twin’s portion of the series, or at least I think it does, I would have liked something in the way of a brief epilogue. Maybe further on in the series when it goes back to Farpoint Creek, we’ll get an update on the Sullivan men…fingers crossed.

This series is the collaboration of two authors, Mari Carr and Lexxie Couper, but the writing is seamless. Mindless fun, nothing too serious...hot men and good times. I’m looking forward to Misplaced Lessons, and I hope they can keep up the momentum.

The question died in her mind as Dylan strode back into her bedroom. Naked. Completely naked. Save for his hat.
My beautiful Dylan Sullivan!

Let me start of by reading the quote that makes me feel famous.

Hunter had challenged him to a ride-off at the Wagga Wagga rodeo and he'd ended up on the back of the meanest bull on the Australian circuit.

Did you see THAT??? Did you figure out why I'm so freakin excited?? They mentioned WAGGA WAGGA!!! It's like I'm famous by association. I live in Wagga Wagga...Nobody knows about Wagga Wagga. Oh my GOSH!!

So I'm reading this absolutely awesome story about a sexy ass Australian stockman and "Wagga Wagga" simply pop's up. I started hyperventilating. Yes, a larger than life reaction that only proves I need to get a life.

Anyway, this story was made of smexy. It dripped smexy. It oozed smexy.

I would give it 5 big stars of Mcawesome goodness, but I will deduct a .5 and this is only because of personal sexual preferences. Ride me hard, ride my soft, ride my ass, ride my mouth, I can usually read it all (and I say "my" because in every story I read I magically transform into the female protagonist). So when I read about the drop dead gorgeous Stockman rimming my ass...I'm gunna cringe a little.

Lexxie Couper and Mari Carr are hot writers, smokin hot writers, they aren't going to keep their stories in vanilla territory - which is currently where I am when it comes to a tongue on my ass. They write sizzling sex scenes, and the rimming scene definitely was sizzling, just not my cup of tea.

I have all my fingers, all my toes and have even braided my hair in the hopes that these two spectacularly talented authors will write another sexy Aussie/American book together. They did drop the hint in the middle of the book where another American spoke of a women he met a while ago in Australia - funnily enough she lives close to Dylan so maybe...just maybe they might do another story.

PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE do another story. I LOVED both the books in this series. You rock the Aussie lingo and I want MORE, MORE, MORE!!!

***Ok, I seriously lied about braiding my hair...I can't braid***

As hot as the Australian outback!

Wow, this took me by surprise. What a fun, fast, hot romance this was. Usually I like more of a build up but I was more than happy to get this show on the road. Dylan in my mind was Hugh Jackman for sure.... so sexy! A stockman out of his element in New York City was very entertaining. The chemistry was off the charts with these two adorable characters and I couldn’t read it fast enough. Will definitely be reading about Annie next. 🔥

Awwww! So sweet. A bit insta-love (within five days??), but that's what happened.

In Misplaced Princess, Annie and Dylan got their signals crossed. Annie ended up in Australia with Dylan's identical twin (with whom she fell in love). Dylan ended up in New York with only Annie's address. Not even his bag, which Qantas lost. Luckily, he bumped into Annie's best friend and neighbor, Monet, not too long after he gets to Annie's, and is promptly turned away by the doorman. But Monet realizes who he is and brings him with her to set up her art show.

Sparks fly immediately, but they both keep trying to remind themselves that Dylan was in New York for Annie. Who neither of them can get in touch with. And then, an ex-boyfriend tries to make fun of Dylan and then makes offensive comments about Monet and Dylan punches him out. (The dude was a douche.) And Monet responds by kissing him. Sparks fly brighter.

But they're still both thinking about Annie. And trying desperately not to be so attracted to each other. Monet's trying to be a good friend and Dylan's trying to stay faithful to what Annie may be feeling for him. But it's darned hard to be good when they're so perfect for each other.

So anyway, it's lots of sexy build up, lots of pining, lots of guilt, ultimately some emotion-filled sex, and ultimately lots of happiness. But it takes a bit of sadness and despondence to get to the happy.

I really enjoyed both of these books. The authors did a great job of melding the authentic Australian with authentic American and both books worked.

Holy hot cowboys! If I had to pick between the two Sullivan brothers I would not be able to make up my mind. MISPLACED COWBOY takes place at the same time as MISPLACED PRINCESS. Dylan Sullivan had met Annie on an online dating site and they'd been chatting for months. When they finally plan to meet, Dylan understands that he's supposed to fly to New York to meet her, and Annie thinks she's supposed to go to Australia. Of course Annie ended up meeting and falling in love with Dylan's brother, Hunter. But whatever happened to Dylan in New York while Annie and Hunter were in Australia falling in love?

Well, Dylan was doing a bit of falling in love and getting naughty between the sheets himself. When he arrives at Annie's apartment in the city, he runs into Annie's BFF Monet. Monet is completely a city girl, an artist even. And she is struck by the Aussie immediately. With his accent, his hat, his rugged good looks, rough hands, and attitude at the ready to defend her when needed. Who wouldn't let that sexy man sweep her off her feet?

Well Monet didn't, not at the beginning. Even though they are both very honest about being attracted to each other, pretty much from the start, they won't act on it because of Annie. Monet can't simply sleep with her BFF's maybe soulmate. But there's only so much temptation a girl can resist after sharing living space with a hunky cowboy like Dylan. Oh sorry, not cowboy....stockman. Who owns one of the largest stations in Australia.

Sweet and fun and very sexy. I can't wait to see what these two talented ladies come up with next!

PS: I'm plotting and planning. I know there's gotta be a supply of hot stockman somewhere. The authors must have them locked away for future use. Will have to go raid their basements!

I have fallen in love with Aussie's! Both Misplaced Princess & it's sequel (just released) Misplaced Cowboy are amazing! I love how Mari and Lexxie have given a true insight into another world. The language and terms make it feel very real that people are from two different countries rather than just setting up information in the beginning of the book. I love how both the guys fall head over heels!!! It's not just a girl swooning over another guy :) And of course there is always the fact that when you read Mari or Lexxie you know it's going to be hot, but when they combine their talents,,,it's downright scorching!

Talk about sexual tension! These two characters had so much intense chemistry you could feel the heat coming off the pages. Unfortunately something, or rather someone, is standing in the way of them being together. And the more time they spend together, the harder and harder it is getting for these two to resist the undeniable and powerful connection between them. When they are finally able to come together, I swear my ereader was going to go up in flames. Now I thought that the first book in this series was sizzling hot, but Mari and Lexxie both kicked it up a notch with this second installment of the Foreign Affairs series and I can't wait to get started on the next book!

The entire time reading this, I was like, why does this sound so familiar? Have I read something similar? Turns out I read this story back in 2013, only, back then it was titled Outback Cowboy, and the series was called Farpoint Creek Cattle Station.

I was tempted to knock a star off for being deceived but just like the first time I read it, this is a solid three star read.

My Review for the AUDIOBOOK...NOT the book:
Overall... 1.00 star
Performance.... 4.50 star
Story... 2.75 star (would have been much higher if the audio had an ending)

When I finished this audiobook, I was stunned. The story didn't end. When the audiobook is over, Dylan is in Australia and Monet is in America...APART in every way possible. I looked online and only one person mentioned the abrupt ending. That couldn't be it, could it? I bought book #3 thinking that it would bring the two books together and finish the story. Nope, although there is a TINY mention of this couple to let you know they got their HEA, there was no real resolution to how they got there. #3 is about different characters. WTF? I even tweeted the authors to see if the audiobook was missing the final chapter or something, but didn't get a response because it was Christmas week. Finally, I went online and bought the kindle book sure that the audio cut out something.

I was right. THE AUDIOBOOK does not finish the book. It left out the ENTIRE LAST CHAPTER!!!

So this is your warning: DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK FROM AUDIBLE. The audiobook on there is missing Chapter 12.

Otherwise the book was good. I was enjoying the story, but ack!?! I did return my audiobook to Audible and they gave me back my credits very simply, but it's so aggravating. I don't want someone else to have this problem. If you are interested in this book, buy the ebook version, NOT the audiobook...which I hate because I really enjoyed the audio version overall...it's a great length and the narrator is great. BTW, this was the status of this audio buy as of December, 2013. Hopefully, someone will get it fixed because otherwise this book would have earned a B+ rating from me.

This was an okay story but too smiliar to the first book for me to fully enjoy it. Maybe if I had taken a break in between both books I may have apprecaited the story more.

I think I enjoyed Misplaced Princess much more as the story line was unique!

I know this might sound picky, but living in the land down under myself I have to say it! As much as we might be partial to using the word bloody, we don't bloody well use the word in every other bloody sentence we utter. Well not the people I bloody well know :)

Home is Where the Heart Is

Dylan Sullivan landed in NYC with no Annie in site. He went to her apartment and luckily met up with Monet. Just one look and he knew she was the one, not Annie. After one week with her he realizes two things, he loves her but he can never live in NYC. With a broken heart he returns home to Australia. In less than a week Monet travels to Aussie land with Annie's pop. Dylan could not believe she was there. Monnie convinced him she was staying with him forever, because home was not NYC, it is where the heart is. Really liked this story. Characters were very emotional and likable. Love found and lost plot was great. 3.5 stars

Claiming Her Cowboy by Mari Carr and Lexxie Couper is a fun contemporary romance. Dylan has been chatting with Annie for months and decides it's time to meet in person. He flies to NYC to meet her but their wires were crossed and Annie had flown to Australia to meet him. Instead Annie's best friend and neighbor, Monet, takes Dylan in and shows him the sights of New York. Dylan and Monet's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle...and did I mention it's funny? I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to reading more from team Carr/Couper. This book is fairly short, perfect for those with limited reading time. Claiming Her Cowboy is book 2 of the Crossed Wires Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

This is a somewhat delightful read of an Australian Stockman visiting NYC. Due to mix-up, instead of meeting his on-line girl, Annie, Dylan meets her very pretty and sexy best friend. No surprise plot, as the stockman and the glamorous New Yorker, Monet, fall immediately into lust. Sex is all they have on their minds, but try to resist giving into their temptation as neither of them want to hurt Annie.
I think “Claiming The Cowboy” and it’s parallel story, “Taming The Princess” would have been better served, if the two plots had been combined into one book. For example, it didn’t make any sense that Dylan couldn’t reach his brother by phone, nor Monet couldn’t contact her friend, Annie.

Coming Home

Dylan goes to NY city to meet Annie in person, but she is in Australia. But he does meet Monet, her best friend. Between lost luggage and not knowing the city he's a little lost. Monet knows who he is and takes him under her wing, but she didn't expect to fall for him. The feelings are mutual. But now he's gone, with Annie's dad's help she needs to claim her stockman.

Crossed wires for sure as the Australian cowboy flies to New York to meet someone he had been corresponding with and she unknowingly flies to Australia. He off course meets her best friend Monet and they have a bit of a heat filled fling but then wonder about the huge distance between their countries . See how that works itself out

This was a rom/com. I laughed; I cried. Thank God for HEA's. What does one do when the one you love comes from a totally different world? The only thing one can: show the Aussie all the fun things to do in NYC until he is able to claim his lost luggage and return home.

The characters are fun. The plot is fast paced and confusing in a good way.

Down under Wonder

This book is for you if you prefer hot and fast to a slow burn. I think the book had a lot of potential, but the authors rushed it. It’s a quick easy read and enough of a story line to keep it interesting, but not deep.

Australian stockman

We call them cowboys and ranches but, they are stockmen and stations in Australia. This stocking comes to New York to meet his internet honey but, instead meets her best friend. Lots of fun sex and a great story.

Misplaced Cowboy is book two in the Foreign Affairs series by Lexxie Couper and Mari Carr. Yet again they have knocked this one out of the park. I had high expectations after book one, and didn’t know how they would top it, but ohhhh did they ever!! If you haven’t read book one stop what you are doing and grab it!! These two are intertwined.

I am so in love with Dylan!! He has traveled all the way to America to meet Annie, who we met in book one. Only problem with that is that Annie is in Australia to meet him. So when he goes to her apartment to find out why she didn’t meet him at the airport, he ends up meeting her best friend Monet. And lawd the sparks these two throw off each other is enough to melt your e-reader!!! I will admit I had to wipe the fog off my iPad a time or two.. LOL. ..

Monet doesn’t know what to do with this sexy Australian. She is desperate to talk to Annie about the fact that she is falling love with the guy that is supposed to be Annie’s. But the fates keep messing with them!! His luggage has been lost, and he is stuck staying in New York with her until he can get it back. But can they resist each other??

Dylan is in a serious jam. He has traveled to America to meet the woman he thought was his soul mate. One little problem from the moment he heard Monet’s voice he has wanted to get her naked, and he can’t seem to get in touch with his brother or Annie at his cattle station in Australia. Will he be able to keep his hands off of Monet long enough to talk to Annie?? And once he finds out that Annie has fallen for his twin brother Harper, can he and Monet have a future when they live in two different countries??

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I absolutely loved this book!!!! It was great to see an Australian cowboy. I mean stockman dealing with the weird world (to him) that is New York. Monet is a wonderful woman and lawd when she does the nude drawing of Dylan I had to fan myself!!!! This is a panty melting kinda book!!! Smoking hot doesn’t even begin to cover the sexiness!! I know you ladies will enjoy this one as much as I have!!
