Gina...I’ve met the world’s grumpiest man, but I can’t deny the effect he has on my body. And now I have to work with him. He’s everywhere. And the more I see him, the more my treacherous body reacts. When he offers to be my friend with benefits, I can’t seem to say no.But it doesn’t take long for my heart to demand more.He let me see behind his hard faced business persona, but it didn’t take long for him to put the walls back up.Leaving me heartbroken. And no matter how hard I throw myself into work, I can’t shake the lasting impression Mr. Scowly had on my body and on my heart.Xander...I don’t do relationships. I do one night or short term, and I never let my heart get involved. And it worked well. Until her.Fiery, strong, determined, independent. Someone to stand toe to toe with me and meet me head on.Her personality, as well her body, makes me hard, which might be a problem now we work together. When the tension between us becomes too much, I offer her a solution that I think will douse the flames she ignites. But they burn stronger, so I run.Now I’m alone, but she haunts my dreams and I can’t seem to fill the gaping hole she’s left, but I’m not sure she’ll ever forgive me for taking the coward's way out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one. We have broody rich man with looks could kill if you touch my woman. Office romance. I liked how it was actually a lot more deeper than just the sexual tension between Gina & Xander and could relate to so much with Gina and her feelings, and at the same time I appreciated the way Xander was and putting people at arms length and thought the story tied up perfectly and the way they showed their emotions to one another and openly communicated with one another at the end (maybe not so much in the midst of the book but also needed that little bit of miscommunication)
Thank you Kerrie for sending and trusting me in reading your arc copy. x
Built For Sin by Kerrie Maxon is the first book I’ve read by this author, and boy howdy will it not be the last. I really enjoyed this book and the sexual tension was on point. Once I started the book, I couldn’t put my kindle down.
This story is about Gina and Xander. I enjoyed reading them eventually communicating and coming together in the end. I really liked Gina, I felt like I could relate to her with all her decisions and how she felt throughout the book. I also liked Xander how he was trying so hard to protect himself…his heart so he keeps people at arms length. It was enjoyable to see Gina sneak in getting past his defenses to stand toe to toe with him. They were a great match! I really recommend that you check this book out!
Built for Sin is the first book I have read by Kerrie Maxon and it won’t be the last. It was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. The sexual Tension and Chemistry is to die for.
Gina is an independent business woman who comes from a successful family. When visiting her Grandfather in hospital she first meets brothers Ethan and Xander. Ethan is handsome and very sweet. But Xander is drop dead gorgeous, sexy and broody.
Xander is a successful businessman with Commitment issues and goes through women quickly. But his attraction to Gina has thrown him off balance.
The tension and chemistry between Gina and Xander is to die for. The sexy scenes between these two is written to perfection. And no matter how much these two have it’s never enough. Constantly craving each other.
Absolutely loved Built for Sin and I cannot wait to read more books by Kerrie Maxon.
Wow, there is so much spice in this that if you read it in winter you will save a fortune on your heating bill!!! This is heavily spiced, but a bit of high class spice, I definitely wouldn't class it as smutty!!! The characters themselves, well, some good looking people in this story! There is actually a good story to this as well, a good plot with spicy highlights which makes a refreshing change from other books of this type! Love the high power jobs, the self control of them in every day life Vs well, the rest of the time! If you read this, and I highly recommend you do, stock up on your pink annotation tabs, you will need a lot of them!
This was an arc read and the first book by this Arthur as well loved the story line she put in this the sexual tension was pretty awesome was a book I could not put down if all of her books are as awesome as this one I will have to look into getting more cause I thourghly enjoyed reading this one
Wow kerrie really knows how to keep our attention in this novel. The perfect amount of sex, tension. Very strong characters. It's a novel you can get lost night. I really have become a fan of kerrie Maxon it was my first novel by her. But sure won't be the last. If you want a fantastic novel this is the novel to grab.
I picked up this book expecting a spicy workplace romance, but I was not prepared for how completely it would take over my entire weekend. From the very first chapter, I was hooked on the explosive chemistry between Gina and Xander. Their dynamic is the perfect blend of tension, temptation, humor, and heartbreak the kind of pairing that keeps you up way past bedtime because you just need “one more chapter.”
Gina is such a refreshing heroine: strong, independent, and determined, yet beautifully vulnerable in all the right places. I loved being inside her head as she slowly fell for the man she swore she wouldn’t. And Xander… wow. The grumpiest, broodiest, most frustrating man on the planet and yet utterly irresistible. Watching him battle his own fears and emotions was just as gripping as the steam between them.
The “friends with benefits” arrangement was written so realistically that I could feel the tension building with every stolen touch, every moment where they pretended there wasn’t something deeper simmering under the surface. When Xander panicked and pulled away, my heart broke right along with Gina’s. And when he finally realized what he lost? I felt every bit of that ache.
This book delivers everything I love in a romance: sizzling heat, addictive banter, emotional depth, and characters who linger in your mind long after you’re done. It’s sexy, heartfelt, and beautifully messy in all the best ways.
If you love grumpy–sunshine, workplace tension, slow emotional unraveling, and a couple you can’t help rooting for, this is absolutely a must-read. I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could.
Very fun read! Super captivating and enjoyable! Very good writing! Quite a bit of spice, just for those who are not big on spice.I love the author, she is one of the nicest authors i've ever met! Totally recommend.
Gina is a savvy, successful businesswoman who drops everything to rush home when her beloved grandfather suffers a heart attack. While visiting him in hospital, she crosses paths with two brothers, Ethan and Xander, never realizing her life is about to spiral into an emotional rollercoaster of passion and heartbreak. Enter Xander: brooding, infuriating, and sexy as hell. He doesn’t waste a second before accusing Gina of being a thief, not even giving her a chance to explain. But Gina’s no pushover. She snaps back with the perfect amount of fire, and the tension between them crackles from that very first confrontation. It’s that fire and fearlessness that throws Xander off his game. When Gina wins a contract to work on one of his projects, she’s a temptation he can’t let slip through his fingers. Though Gina knows Xander is trouble—and definitely not relationship material—she can’t resist the magnetic pull between them. What starts as a no-strings-attached fling quickly becomes a wildfire neither of them can put out. The heat is off the charts. The chemistry? Explosive. They are absolutely insatiable, and watching them try (and fail) to keep things casual is as entertaining as it is steamy. But just when things start to feel real, Xander freaks out. As his feelings deepen, he slips back into his emotionally unavailable alter ego—aka “Mr. Scowly Face”—and does the unthinkable. After what was meant to be a passionate weekend, he leaves Gina at the airport to fly home alone, flipping from passionate lover to cold stranger in the blink of an eye. Honestly, I was this close to rooting for Gina to ditch him for good. The heartbreak felt so raw, so real. That said, if you’re a sucker for fated mates and happily ever afters, fear not—this book delivers. The ending is heart-melting enough to (more or less) forgive Xander for his epic screw-ups. But make no mistake, this journey is a bumpy, emotional, steamy-as-sin ride, though one that’s absolutely worth taking. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Built For Sin by Kerrie Maxon delivers a fiery workplace romance packed with tension, vulnerability, and slow-burn yearning. Gina’s voice is relatable and raw, while Xander’s gruff, emotionally guarded hero arc adds depth beneath the scowl. The friends with benefits trope crackles with chemistry, yet the real pull is the emotional fallout when fear sabotages connection. Maxon balances heat with heart, showing growth, regret, and earned redemption. Readers who love strong heroines, reluctant heroes, and angst driven reconciliation will devour this story. Highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance craving passion, conflict, and satisfying emotional payoff from start to finish, every page turn.
Very enjoyable and engaging from start to finish. The story is captivating, with strong writing and a great pace. There is a noticeable amount of spice, which is worth noting for readers who prefer lighter romance. The author is truly wonderful and one of the kindest writers I’ve come across. I would absolutely recommend this book.
What a great story with a grumpy alpha male and a headstrong independent woman. I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry with the couple setting a phwoar factor in hotness. There's plenty going on to keep you entertained and turning the pages.
