Everyday life with two cuddly cats is beautiful. They wrestle on top of their owner Tamako when she’s sick in bed with a cold, fetch the rubber bands she throws at them like dogs, and watch her through mirrors. The adorable behaviors of domineering Ton-chan and innocent Shino-san will have you wrapped around their fingers (paws?) again in this volume!
I liked what I read as much as I did Vol. 1 and it was super cute, but... Well, there wasn't really anything new to see here. It was basically just a repeat of Vol. 1. With no fresh content, well... I didn't feel inspired to finish it.
This is like the author read With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun and said, "Hey, *I* have cats! *I* can write a slice-of-life about my weirdo cats!" I missed the first book, but I can guess it's exactly the same as this, but different experiences.
The book is in "gag comic" style: a collection of four-panel or one-page short comics that tell a quick anecdote about one or both of the cats being cute/weird/aggravating/etc., though many of the four-panel comics are accompanied by photos of the actual cats in question. (The funniest is the one about her computer chaircat chair, and the actual damaged chair with a cat in it!)
The one problem is... it's very samey. As cute as cats are, I got extremely tired just reading gag after gag. It's one thing when it's broken up by longer story segments like with A Man and His Cat. This is like reading a stranger's endless Facebook posts (but most of them hand-drawn).
Also, as much as they try, cats really only have so many ways to be weird, especially indoor-only cats. I don't know. (Unfortunately, I haven't had one in a very long time, but that was my experience, too.)
This wasn’t different from volume 1. Volume 1 was adorable but got tedious quickly. This was tedious from the start. Cats don’t generally have that many unique or clever stories, and these two—while adorable like all cats—don’t even do funny or actually weird things. They literally just do cat things.
These cats are still so adorable and we are learning different aspects of their personalities but this one took me much longer to read than the previous volume, it was too easy to put the book down and walk away from it. Not sure if I will continue with the series.
Love the continued adventures of the author's cats and also make me realize I, too, am insane in the membrane lmao. I will try to keep picking these up when I see them, or I guess I'll just go into book debt for physical manga I want ha ha haaaaaa
The fluffy cats, Ton and Shino, are back with their owner Tamako. This volume includes a look at what entertains cats, food habits, and more. This pair have their own quirks, but together they are make Tamako's life better.
A cute manga about the author's cats. Probably cat people might enjoy it or relate to it more? Cats are just cats, afterall, and these cats don't do anything extrordinarily out of the ordinary for a cat. But, yes, they are cute.
At least this a manga I can comfortably recommend to anyone of any age without having to worry about inappropriate content.
edit: a primary school child told me it was "not good" because there's a frame of the cat owner sniffing the cat's butt. Fair point. Yes, it's "not good". I'll repeat that maybe this is just one for cat owners.
I think volume 2 was just as wonderful as volume 1. I think slice of life manga about pets tend to get pretty repetitive the more volumes there are, but Tamagoyama did switch it up a bit. There was some more stories about her childhood/parents' cats, but I also really liked the story about how she and her husband decided to adopt cats and how Tamagoyama was able to turn her husband into a cat person. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series too. Last I checked I think there was seven volumes published, so I'm very excited to read them all when they come in to my library!
