B.S. Mais is a young adult sci-fi and fantasy author who currently resides in the Poconos. Revenge of the Ancients is the second book he had published. He is an avid writer and computer programmer, possessing a B.A. in computer science.

Ascensions was a good novel. It caught my interest right away, which is unusual for a short story. Usually, I read short stories because they are a quick read when I am bored. That wasn’t the case with this book. I read it because it was entertaining. The plot was intricate, yet easy to follow. I loved the mythology aspect of the story. I’ve always been interested in mythology. Reading about it in a futuristic setting was definitely a treat. I didn’t predict the big plot twist before it happened. It had me flabbergasted. I loved the way the book ended. I’m hoping that Persephone will be able to be with her husband now. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

I little hard to get into, I stopped and put it down several times. The reason it took me this long to finish. If you like sy-fy type of stories that include different worlds, space travel and a strong female MC, then you would enjoy this story. The author also throws in a little about gods. A small cliff hanger nothing one can't live without knowing. The main issue is taken care off, and the cliffhanger is the result of a small side result.

I think this is going to be a good series. Could have been a bit longer, I think, but everything was written out well enough to understand. There were no ties of emotions to the characters though. I would read more of this if the author chose to continue with the storyline.
