3.5⭐️ good but not the best

Lark is desperate. So desperate that she decides to run away for the only person she thinks can help her, someone she never met in real life. Turns out, running away from your past is harder than she thinks, and they can come back in the form of a hit and run.

Danny is struggling. His grandmother has a terminal illness and has decided for hospice care. He takes a break from his job as a firefighter to take care of her, but the break brings out more issues that seem to take too much time on his mind: his grandma, his estranged uncle, the absent father. During his usual jogging, he comes upon a peculiar scene: a woman, distressed, soon to be run over. His instinct leads him to save her, and with just a word, ‘please’, he can’t stay away from her care.

What follows is a nice enough romance, with a bit of mistery.

My peeve, though, is that I personally think that mistery told through POV, especially from just two people, the love interests usually, always lacks something. The author’s attempt to keep the sub unknown until the end can lead to being TOO random at the end.

Apart from that, a solid read.

It started with Lark (24) being hit by a car on purpose and Danny (33) witnessing all of it. He saved her and brought her to the hospital. When she woke up she cannot remember anything and the doctors said it was a dissociative amnesia. Danny helped Lark and stayed with her in the hospital and offered her to stay in his house with his grandma for the meantime since she cannot remember at all. And this is where the story revolves, Lark trying to remember why she was in the West Oaks and what led her to that place and who's the person wanting to hurt her.

There's a lot that happened in here and I'm a little overwhelmed if I'm being honest. But all in all when the things finally fall into place. Everything was like a huge interconnected puzzle. The twists, lies, and explanation worked out so well and it all made sense at the end.

Overall, I did like the story. However, the connection between Lark and Danny isn't palpable. Also, there are so many characters involved in here that made it a bit overwhelming to follow. Anyway, this is still a good read. Books 1 and 4 are still the best for me in this series.

Read in one day! I could not put the book down; Danny and Lark’s story hooked me. The Last Two moments is the fifth book in the West Oaks Heroes series. This series just gets better, the story, characters, dialog, and twists, plus the heat. Lark is hit by a car and saved by Danny. The trauma of the accident leaves her without her memory. From here, the story unfolds as we learn whom to trust, what story is true, and who Lark really is. And why was Lark on Danny’s Street that night?

Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

West Oaks Heroes book 5!
4.5⭐️ for this very spicy, actioned packed romance. A gorgeous protected hero that falls for a heroine I couldn’t help to like. Hannah Shields wrote a playful romance that wasn’t over the top and adds a believable suspenseful plot that kept me reading.
Enjoyed the chemistry and spice. A great escape from the stressful days I’m having.

Danny and Lark come together when Lark is nearly killed. Danny saves her and instantly Lark is attached to him. Lark suffers from amnesia after the accident and knows instinctively that she can trust Danny. They both work hard to discover who wants Lark dead, and Danny gets closure about his family's past as well. Their relationship is definitely a slow burn but so worth it in the end. Hannah Shield's new novel is action packed and heart wrenching. It's about finding yourself and knowing that a family is what you make it.

Lack doesn’t remember anything except the guy who rescued her. The last few moments before she lost consciousness, blue eyes gazed at her. Her hero was a very capable firefighter who witnessed the whole thing.

Danny was out on a run to take away his mind from thinking about his sick grandmother when he saw a car speeding towards a woman. He tried to warn her, but she still got hit. As the car returned for a second time, Danny knew he had to get both himself and the woman out of the way.

Now Lark has amnesia, and Danny is the only person who feels familiar. In trying to find answers, the couple might unearth more skeletons from the past.

Goodreads-Quotes-4

This is the fifth book in the romantic suspense West Oaks Heroes series. It deals with amnesia and several triggering subjects. But it’s also a firefighter romance with a slow burn and a lot of mystery and suspense.

Goodreads-Quotes-1

I love a good suspense story and Hannah Shield writes gripping stories filled with suspense. I was dying to figure it all out, and I had a lot of theories that didn’t turn out to be correct. And I love that. Not many books surprise you like this one. You have clues that make you suspicious of many characters, but then you realise you’ve been blindsided. It was mind-blowing.

Goodreads-Quotes-3

Danny and Lark are so good together. Their chemistry and how they tried to fight it made the slow burn worth the wait. They are right for each other. They both experienced heartache but found hope in each other. Their relationship was filled with trust, understanding, and laughter. It was clear that they were meant to be.

There are some typos. After the dialogue, I guess this scene got confused. It was originally written from Lark’s perspective. *(“If the emails came from there, maybe Travis lives somewhere nearby,” Lark says.)* There are not that many typos and they don’t take away any of the enjoyment of reading this fantastic book.

Goodreads-Quotes-2

I’d love to read more of Hannah Shields’ work. Especially after this book. It made me fall in love with her style and each book’s improvement. Her writing is captivating, and it’s easy to get lost in her stories. I’m excited to see what she comes up with next and can’t wait to read more of her work. Especially Rex & Quinn’s book that will close this series, and Aiden’s story, which will be the beginning of the next series.

Lark is running away from something/someone when she is run over. Danny sees it and knows it wasn’t an accident. When she wakes up in hospital she cannot remember anything but her name.
She seems to only be comfortable around Danny so he takes her home where he is taking care of his sick gran with some help from nurses.

Suddenly there is an aunt who comes out of nowhere and says she knows her and that she lived with them before she met a guy. She just goes to meet the aunt. Doesn’t seem to question it all which I thought, honestly was effing stupid.

So she overhears the ‘aunt’ who is supposed to take her somewhere so she bolts. She finds Danny and he takes her back home. She never should have gone without proof and he never should have left her there.

Danny gran wants to see her oldest son again (Danny’s uncle) so Danny and Lark go looking for him. They get to this small town and her ex recognises her. Tells her she came home covered in bruises one day and blamed her stepbrother and then dumped him and disappeared.

The stepbrother turns up and threatens her and she tells Danny everything straight away which was refreshing. I hate when our heroes/heroines make themselves martyrs

Danny finds his uncle and turns out he was friends with Lark. She was helping him. He goes with Danny to see his sick mum.

Lark then does something stupid and puts herself in danger but the big secret is revealed

Honestly this was a little boring. The previous books had action all the way through and this was a little slow. But at 35% I thought I knew what was happening. At 50% I knew I had it right and the big reveal came and I was completely wrong so big plus for that

It just needed a little more in the middle and it was more a HFN than a HEA but the last book is about their friend so we will prob find out more in that book

This was a cute romantic story of two people finding each other and falling in love. There's great family connections and made family bonds too.

This is part of a series but I didn't feel left out, having not read any of the previous books. It was easy to following along without feeling left overwhelmed or lost with too much introduction/information.

An easy read with mild angst and plenty of mystery surrounding Lark. Her backstory is sad but ends with on a bright note. Amnesia is a cliche trope but I think this story did a good job of giving it a unique twist. Finding out who Lark really is and how her past might effect her new and precious present and future kept me glued to the pages.

Loved the instant connection she had with Danny and the twist on how it all connects with her past was something I didn't see coming, tbh. He was a little unsure of his own feelings when it comes to Lark in the beginning but by the end, it was nice to see him throw caution to the wind, trust his instincts and love Lark, despite her murky past.

I personally don't do the too-small-world think where ex's and FB stay friends with their significant others so I could have done without the whole Quinn and Danny thing, especially since Quinn is secretly in love with OM. It just doesn't sit well with me.

Overall a good read. A little fast paced but the story flowed well and the characters were interesting and kept me engaged until the end.

Hannah Shield cannot write anything bad. Anything she releases, you can expect it to be enthralling. Her mix of action, suspense, and heavy dose of romance is everything you need. I was coming off a withdrawal from another book I finished and wasn’t sure I would be able to put my heart into reading another one so soon, but this was just the right pick-me-up. Also, Danny? A firefighter? Yes please. Lol. We first met him in Matteo and Angela’s story and I’m glad we didn’t have to wait so long to hear his story. Through tough situations, Lark finds herself on the streets of West Oaks. The story does not wait. Right off the bat, we meet Lark running away from someone/something. We don’t know what she’s doing or who she’s escaping from but we do know that someone is trying to erase her permanently. Danny happens to be there at the right moment and although getting hit by a car causes memory lost, Danny becomes her protector and healer every step of the way. There’s so much mystery in this one that you can’t hep but to continue to read until you get your answer. I love Danny and love getting to see a different side to him apart from just being Matteo’s good friend and co-worker. Everything he does, he does with right intentions. Lark is young but she is also fierce. There is absolutely nothing wrong with needing a little help from others to get on your feet and I’m glad she wasn’t making stupid decisions. Her story is all sorts of crazy and it keeps you guessing whodunit. I also thought the most charming thing was when Danny would occasionally put his hand on Lark’s neck checking her pulse making sure she’s not overwhelmed when information about her past comes rolling in. Not going to lie, all of this protectiveness in West Oaks is swoon-worthy. Lol. And like all of Shield’s characters, Danny and Lark are perfect for each other. We also get a little sneak peek at Aiden Shelborne, who I was completely enamored with the entire time. I mean, how can you not love that guy already. Although, I was a bit sad to see him leave West Oaks but so incredibly happy he’ll have a story coming soon. Yet, this book leaves me with many conflicted feelings as there is one more after this that will conclude this series. Oh, the heartbreak. I’m not ready to let go of West Oaks, same as I was never ready to let go of Bennett Security. I still get excited every time Bennett Security pops up but the little crumbs are never enough. To add to the already conflicted feelings, I’m ecstatic that we will a story for Aiden soon BUT does that mean no more West Oaks??? I’m not sure how I will fare. At least we get Rex’s story and he IS from Bennett Security. Thank. You. I’m never done with Bennett Security.

The Two Last Moments is the fifth book in a new West Oaks Heroes series by Hannah Shield. This book is officially at the top of my favourite West Oaks Heroes series. Hannah Shield writes magical words that always put a spell on me because I can never put the books down and end up devouring them. It is both intense and insanely hot. Can be read as a standalone in an interconnected series of standalones. The writing is powerful, riveting, engaging and invigorating. The storyline is brilliant, well-paced and well-written. The Two Last Moments has everything I could have asked for: a healing journey, a protective hero, a vulnerable strong heroine, second chance, roommates to lovers, close proximity and a slow burn.

Danny and Lark are explosive together. These two bring all the feels: one moment they have you laughing out loud the next tug at your heartstrings. Their transformation and growth throughout the book is heartwarming. Seeing them thriving and healing together by accepting love is beautiful. The chemistry between Danny and Lark leapt of the page. From the moment they met there was this unique connection and understanding. Given all the circumstances it seemed like fate brought them together. Their love story is layered, fast paced, real, emotional, dangerous with an edge and depth. Danny was trying to do the right thing for his grandmother and Lark by learning that sometimes you can't control things and some people don't need fixing, only love, support and being there for them. What a build-up it was between Danny and Lark. Danny's grandmother was crucial for their relationship. The pace of the story added to their romance as well as plot and secondary characters.

A fantastic read and another thrilling addition to this series. Simply amazing, sexy, and captivating. One of the most emotional and poignant books.

For me this is a good solid 4 star book, one I could see reading again and one I recommend.

This romantic suspense starts right from the start when a young woman, seemingly in a hopeless situation is trying to escape something. It then switches to our hero Danny, an EMT firefighter out for a run when he notices a car barrelling down on a young woman. He knocks her out of the way and is horrified to watch the car turn around and head back to them. They manage to get out of the way and the car goes roaring off. The young woman has been clipped by the car and Danny sees she gets to the hospital.

The young woman turns out to be our heroine Lark of course and it turns out she’s lost her memory. She remembers her name and that’s about it. When she’s released from the hospital, Danny insists she comes and stays with him and his grandmother as they need to find who wants Lark dead and why. His grandmother is palliative and Danny has taken a leave of absence to care for her. The story is Danny and Lark trying to discover her past and why someone wants to kill her. Along the journey they fight their growing feelings for each other until they can’t any longer.

I love both Danny and Lark. Danny is everything that makes for a great hero. He’s a good and protective guy for his grandmother and now Lark. And of course he’s a hot fire fighter and that’s always pretty fine. I love Lark too. She’s a strong young woman who despite having no recollections is wanting to face whatever is out there hunting her.

I’m an end reader, someone who has to skip ahead to make sure there is a HEA. (Hello, this is romance, of course there is 🤭.). I always try not to do this, especially in the RS genre and I’m happy to say I didn’t peak. The only slight issue I had and this is small enough that it didn’t affect the grade, is this is the fourth book in the series and there were a few of Danny’s friends as secondary characters that popped up that I need to go back and read now.

This is the third book I’ve read by Hannah Shield and they are all available on KU. I had some free space so I picked up a few more to sit back and enjoy.

Like the rest of Hannah’s books, this book gives readers an unexpected, intense romance along with intriguing suspense. Lark and Danny’s first encounter is fraught with danger and uncertainty. A night run in his grandmother’s neighborhood turns into a rescue mission when he witnesses a car hit a woman. He steps in to use his paramedic and firefighter skills to offer aid. A repeat attempt puts his own life at risk and Danny finds himself unable to leave the woman’s side. When she regains consciousness, she can only remember her first name, Lark, and not much else. Lark feels safe in Danny’s presence, though she doesn’t understand why. They have an unexpectedly strong connection, one neither has felt before. His grandmother suggests that they offer Lark a place to stay until she gets her memory back or until the police can find her family. Lark is agreeable, though she doesn’t want to be a burden or intrude especially since Danny’s grandmother is terminally ill and receiving hospice care. When it seems her family or at least an aunt by marriage has been found through a missing person’s report, Lark sees no choice but to leave Danny and his grandmother to go to her aunt. Danny feels uneasy about her leaving, but can find no concrete reason for it. As it turns out, his instincts are spot on and both he and Lark are happy to have her back at his grandmother’s house. Their connection deepens and hearts become involved though both try to hide their feelings, until an incident turns the sparks between into a roaring blaze that consumes them both. As the investigation into her past continues, they discover that Lark’s story is tangled, twisty and inexplicably tied to his own. Who wants to harm Lark and why? Will they have a future together or apart?

I really love this series, though I like some of the books better than others. Counting down from six, we're at the penultimate novel, though there are crossovers from other series. Fans will like that.

This book for me is one of the better ones, and I devoured it quickly. That said, after finishing it, I found myself a little disappointed in a handful of things.

Danny and Lark are adorable together. We know Danny is awesome by how much he cares for and helps his grandmother and, later, Lark. He's pretty much swoony perfect. Lark is also clearly a good person, but as she's dealing with amnesia, we can only go on our impressions of goodness and Danny's conviction that she's pure of heart.

The suspense is... well, suspenseful, but I did find myself wishing there were more incremental breakthroughs in Lark's recovery. I will say that I was mostly surprised by the truths when they were finally revealed, and that is rare for me. But I also felt like the truth was half baked. Like when it finally all came out, a lot of it was convenient more than anything.

The book has plenty of sexy time, but this author is so good with them. They are never ever gratuitous or cringy. They're purposeful and help progress the plot in the way I wish the suspense did.

In spite of my criticisms, I really loved this book. I literally stopped reading another book to pick it up, and sorry, not sorry. 🙂

Oh, but really quickly... for the four previous books, I understood the title. Here, I'm not sure what the two last moments are? I maybe get a reference to Danny's grandmother, but...?

❤️This is my ARC review, release day 19.7.23❤️❤️
📖📖This is the fifth book in the West Oaks series📖📖

Each one book was fantastic and Hannah defenetly keeps her standard- story that has so many twists and unexpected moments, again this is a very original story, I read this book in one day because it was not possible to put it down.

From the first chapter we are introduced to Lark but actually we know nothing about her. And that's the main storyline of this book, Lark tries to find out who she is and why she is suddently in West Oak.

She thinks about herself as a weak and bad person since every person who claim to know her from the past tells her twist truth, but fortunatrlly one blueeyed guy helps her to release how strong she is and is worth to be loved and to enjoy her new family and life.

Danny is from the first moment charmed by Lark ( and he find himself in the same situation as his friend Matteo) and starts to release what it is to be concerned and take care about more then one person at the time. He is a loving grandson and I loved his relationship with Nina 😍.

When he allow himself to be happy, he cant keep his hands from Lark and the sexual tension opens into inferno 🌶️🌶️🌶️🔥🔥🔥( thank God he is a firefighter 😁).

I did really enjoy this story, the storyline has great tempo, we meet old characters and new ones too, Hannah created a great world and I am really looking forward to read the last book in this series and I am sure she will bring something great again.

Danny and Lark

This was another great fast paced romantic suspense. I love the amnesia trope and this one was extremely well written. There were so many twists and revelations I didn’t see coming.

The mystery of Lark and how she ended up in West Oaks dominated this plot. As she and Danny uncover more of her life it seems like she may never get her memories back, and after awhile, Lark is okay with that. She’s found a new family that accepts and loves her and that’s enough. But there’s still the threat of the man who tried to run her over out there and until that is wrapped up, Lark isn’t as free as she would like to think.

Danny was an excellent hero. He was trying his best to do the right thing for Lark and his grandmother, the two women in his life, and that was no always easy. He quickly learned he didn’t need to fix Lark. They had great chemistry and although she didn’t have her memories, they found they had a lot in common.

I loved how Danny and Lark’s relationship progressed. From strangers to friends to lovers. Lark attached herself to Danny when she had no memories and nobody else, and it seemed like fate that lead her to Danny. I loved their friendship and seeing it evolve. I love Danny’s determination to show Lark that she was a good person, no matter what secrets they revealed about her past. I love that all Hannah’s series interconnect and we get glimpses of not only other couples from this series, but other characters from the Bennett Security series.

This series just keeps getting better.

The Last Two Moments is the 5th book in the West Oaks Heroes series and the suspense was incredible. Danny is out for an evening run to clear his head from the heaviness that is watching his grandma slide downhill in hospice care when he sees a woman hit by a car. He rushes to her aid and stays with her in the hospital until she awakes. When She does Lark can only remember her name and the blue-eyed stranger who helped keep her safe and alive. Finding out who Lark is and why she was on their street that evening is the beginning of a search that will bring Lark, Danny, their friends, and family into a web of intrigue and danger.

I love this book and the way Hannah Shield builds the suspense and danger surrounding the mystery of who Lark is. Immediately drawn to her, Danny becomes the hero everyone wants. He’s strong, patient, and kind, and puts her needs above his own. Lark, while she has the uncertainty of not knowing who she is, still is capable of helping herself and still is smart enough to trust Danny and his friends. Grandma Nina brings in heartwarming and heartrending love to this fast-paced, intriguing, and thrilling ride that I couldn’t put down. This whole series is written in the same intense and action-packed way. I’m excited about the last book, yet sorry to see the West Oaks Heroes series finish. I received an arc of this book from Booksprout, and this is my honest review.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: forced proximity, amnesia, proctetive hero, firefighter, ex-military medic, slow burn,

𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀: attempted murder, dr*gging,

This book left me pleasantly surprised.

Lark runs from someone at the beginning, but only she knows from whom. That person seriously injures her, but her luck was that Danny saw her at the right moment and helped her. From the moment she wakes up in the hospital, everything is lost. The only memories are her name, the accident and the color of Danny's eyes.

Danny fights for his grandmother to have the best care. He took a break from his work to take care of his terminally ill grandmother. What he doesn't know is that during his break he will meet his soulmate, who through her past will somehow unite his long-lost family. He will also start taking care of Lark who stuck to him because he was the only person she felt safe with. He also helps her remember her past, but until the last moments nothing is known.

This book is full of mystery, and although we only find out the whole truth towards the end, it was really amazing. Apparently, people who wished Lark harm were closer than we could have imagined.

The love story between Lark and Danny is created little by little, based on sincerity, trust and love, and the spicy scenes between them do not disappoint at all.

Thank you Hannah Shield for the opportunity to read this amazing book in exchange for an honest review.

This was such an emotional story that had everything poured into it and it gave so much out.
Take one person with amnesia and her saviour who moved quickly when he saw her hit by a car in an attempt to silence her...Also throw in the no nonsense grandmother of mentioned saviour who easily accepts this lost woman into her house. They will fight to retrieve memories that may bring danger with them but something much more heartfelt will creep into the two main characters.

I adored this story with the gentle protector who wants to build this woman back up from her broken parts and weld them to form. Danny is perfection for any literary hero and I loved that he has never been much for commitment but Lark is the one capable of capturing his heart. The characters have such development that it is hard not to be sucked into every different event or drama they are involved in.
Lark is written in such a way that you are hoping this gets the ending it deserves and nothing can truly disrupt the romance.
I loved every second of this book and I took my sweet time being enraged with the characters and feeling every pang of pain.
A truly impressive story that managed to sting my eyes and touch my soul.

This is the fifth book in the series and I think I said it before, but this series really is wonderful. Each book can be read as a standalone but in my opinion it's even better to read them all because we have appearances from other characters in previous books.

This time we have Lark and Danny who meet when Lark is runover deliberately by a car. Danny tries to warn Lark but she's so shocked that she just doesn't react. He immediately rushes to help and when it turns out she has no memory of who she is or what happened in her past, he takes her into his home.

Danny is a firefighter, he taken a break from his work to care for his grandmother who's terminally ill and immediately falls for Lark. Together they try to find out who is targeting Lark and to retrieve her memory.

I loved how both MC's were secretly pining for each other and taking things very slow once they confessed their feelings. There's another mystery on the side that's very entertaining too.

All in all, this book was great but still for me not the best of the series. I can't wait for the last book which will be Quinn and Rex.

Suspense, mystery, surprises and steamy romance; a little age-gap
This book starts off full-throttle and never lets up. When Danny comes to the injured girl’s aid, there is a connection that he can’t explain. He is a 33yo firefighter and EMT so he knows what to do for her body, but can he help her mind and heart heal too? He’s dealing with his own sorrow; his beloved grandmother with whom he lived, Nina is dying of cancer. His parents decided to move away without their seventh-grade son! In romance, Danny has always been a one-and-done kind of guy. Something is different with the injured girl, Lark. Danny thinks she is too young for him since she is only in her early twenties, but there is just something about Lark…
In this book there are nefarious things happening but it is hard to tell from where. The author has a done a great job of making several people look suspicious. This was a suspenseful mystery with lots of dreamy passion. If this sounds like your kind of book, you really must read it. So good. Perfect cover for Danny too. I volunteered to review an ARC of it through BookSirens. I have loved every one of the books in this series! I have already bought the last one which is my favorite romantic genre: age gap.

Stunning, complex, romantic, breathtaking!

Danny just happens to be in the right place at the right time to rescue Lark after she's hit by a car in front of his grandmother's house. The trauma leaves her without her memory, except she knows her name and she remembers Danny as the one who saved her. From there we have a surprisingly complex tale that is well-plotted and perfectly paced.

I loved how cautious and respectful Danny was with Lark, despite their instant chemistry and undeniable attraction. I completely related to Lark and her impatience with trying to figure out what's going on, who she is, and why she ended up where she is. I was not prepared for the many twists and turns this story took! Once the answers started coming, so does the danger, and it was edge-of-your-seat action from then on.

The story is beautifully wrapped up, though not without its heartbreaking moments. As a standalone romance in this amazing series, Lark and Danny do enjoy a very satisfying HEA and we're given a few hints along the way about the next love story to come.

This author really knows how to build emotional intimacy while also building up the suspense and nail-biting action. I could not have loved it more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I read this book in a day! As with the previous books in this series, Hannah Shield knows how to keep you reading.
The book includes compelling mystery elements along with just the right amount of emanate and spice. This is not the spiciest book of the series, but there is enough for readers that enjoy it.
Lark is nearly killed and suffers a case of dissociative amnesia. She is saved by Danny and for reasons unknown to us she instantly trust him - we find out later that it isn’t just an instant fall for you saviour thing. Lark and Danny are fun together, they bring out the best in each other. We’ve got some ‘touch her a die’ vibes here, along with a dose of forced proximity. They become friends before they become lovers.
The mystery of who Lark is and who is after her unfolds at a good pace and there aren’t any plot holes that stuck out to me.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it along wth the rest of the series. I am actually quite eager for the next one after having gotten to know Quinn a bit in this one.

Lark is on the run, but she has a goal and she is almost there. Firefighter and EMT Danny Bradley is on his daily run when he hears a car, going fast, and a woman in the road. Can he reach her in time before she is hit? Was the car aiming for her? Lark is injured and now the only thing she can remember is her first name. Danny is determined to protect her and find out who she is and why she was near his grandmother’s house. Danny is staying with his grandmother who is in hospice care and Lark, after leaving the hospital, has moved in with them. An unusual amnesia story and just when you think that you have things figured out, there is a new twist. The closeness between Lark and Danny leads to a strong attraction between them, until finally they are no longer able to control their feelings. There are persons in Lark’s past who have their own agenda, and they are going to make sure that she doesn’t remember what they have planned. Will the truth finally set her free or kill her? I continue to enjoy the West Oaks Heroes series by Hannah Shield. This book follows Lark and Danny. We met Danny in the previous book with Marco. He is Marco's friend and co-worker at the firehouse.

The book begins with Lark, who seems to be on the run from someone. She was on her way somewhere when she was suddenly hit by a car. Danny, who lives right up the street from the accident, sees Lark and rescues her.

Lark later wakes up in the hospital, but she is suffering from disassociative amnesia and seems to cling to Danny. Things proceed from there, with Danny trying to help Lark remember her past as well as trying to find out who hit her with their car.

I really enjoyed this book. Though this was my least favourite of the series so far, it was still good. I enjoyed the relationship between Danny and Lark and seeing their friendship blossom into something more. I loved Marco and Angela's appearance in this book and seeing where they are going from where we left off in the last book. I loved the addition of secondary characters like Quinn, who became a good friend of Lark, and Danny's grandmother. Nina's humour always had me laughing.

The plot developed nicely and was well-paced. As it unfolded, we, along with the characters, went on a journey to discover who to trust, what story to believe, and who Lark truly is.

Great mystery romance, including amnesia and very crafty, mean villains. Our hero, Danny, is a firefighter in the West Oaks universe. He rescues Lark from being run over on the street in front of his family home. But all she knows afterward is her first name. Who she is and where she came from are lost. But she trusts Danny, in part because of his brilliant blue eyes. We find out why much later. He vows to protect her and moves her in with his grandmother, who is dying of cancer, and him. She continues to feel haunted, but his friends befriend her, and she likes his grandmother. We get investigators and the DA from Bennett Security, another of this author's series. She and Cole work to find out who she is. What they find is complicated and disturbing. Watching it all get figured out is the pleasure of this story. Plus, we get a delightful romance!

I absolutely loved this book. Danny and Lark were just so good together. At first I was skeptical because suspense isn’t really my thing but I’m so glad I took a chance on this book anyway. Lark has had a rough life ever since she was young and an accident causes her to lose her memory. She doesn’t remember anything. Danny happens to save Lark and then their chemistry begins. They both embark on this dangerous journey to find out who Lark really is and where is her danger coming from. Danny was so swoon worthy. He always was protecting Lark and caring for her even when she pushed him away. These two were meant to be together and this book was just so good. There was danger, steam, humor and everything in this book. It was definitely a page turner. Very well written. I definitely say go for it. Read this book you will not regret it.

This series keeps getting better and better!
When Lark wakes in the hospital, there are only a few things she can recall. Her first name. A car, racing toward her before impact. And him. The firefighter EMT who miraculously appeared that night and saved her. Danny Bradley takes her in, vows to help recover her memories and find out who did this to her. But as she starts to remember, they’re both pulled into a twisted web of deceit and danger.
OMG these two! So hot and sexy! Danny is my new book boyfriend. Sorry Lark! He’s just too perfect. I devoured this story. It’s engaging, super entertaining and sexy. The book is action-packed, with intrigue, sexy times and wonderful side characters from previous books (Hello Matheo and Angela, also Granma ).
I highly recommend this book and this author. I’ve read all this series and is super addictive.

This book is worth ten stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ !!! It’s a riotous riveting read that fiercely bursts along with stunning twists and turns that will spin the reader’s mind. I was grabbed in the very first chapter and the journey continued to throw me int ne spiral after another. An incredible page-turner filled with drama, danger and delight and I could not put it down. Danny is everything an amazing alpha firefighter medic could be for a lady. His charm, loyalty and dedication know no bounds. Lark, on the other hand is entirely lost after her accident and in need of a hero. Danny knows how to step up and be that man. I truly enjoyed their journey together no matter how suspenseful and surprising things became. What an incredible book! Thank you Hannah for once again delivering the best stories!

This is a story about finding yourself and another person that complements you. It was sweet and well told. There was a compelling suspense element and the story flowed well. I enjoyed the character development and setting that was created.

The drama escalated quickly but was exciting and fun to read. I liked that there wasn’t a third act break up and that the couple’s feelings and commitment evolved realistically over time.

At times the dialogue seemed clunky. There were so many background characters, it was hard to keep track of significance. This could have been a tool to keep the suspense, but it was also a bit confusing.

I recommend this if you enjoy high stakes suspense a bit of spice and romance!
