A delightfuol book full of valuable insights, especially for pet lovers and vets starting out in their profession. This book is a collection of interesting cases seen by Dr Marc Abraham and his colleague Ruth in Brighton over a period of one year. It makes for easy reading, although some of the sentences did not quite appeal to my prudish sense of English usage. Nevertheless, it is a book worth reading, short and very, very pet friendly! Throughtout the book, the close, and at times poignant, connection between humans and animals is emphasised, gently but effectively. Well worth a read.

I first read this book when it first appeared in my local waterstones when I was 5, and it’s been my comfort book since! It’s come on countless holidays, multiple school trips, and has remained on my bookshelf for nearly 12 years now even as I’ve grown up and I love it deeply, it’s so inspiring while easy to read and follow for any age. Marc is a real inspiration to anybody who wants to be a vet, any animal lover should read this at least once as it was such a great read!

Celebrity vet Marc Abraham tells us what it's like to be a vet, and explains some of the cases he took on after startng his own night-time vet's surgery.

He mentions the embarrasing things, such as the time he put his hand up a cow's, er, hiney, only to be told he had the 'wrong hole'.

description

He told us about miracles, such as the time Bella the cat died and came back to life.

And he told us about his passion for helping animals. Marc Abraham, you have my respect. Plus, he totally cherishes his assistant, Ruth, and knows how much she does for him.

description

Not only does Marc come into schools to talk to students about what he does and how to keep their pets safe around holidays, but he also offers tips and advice for future vets, and information about what can happen to your pets. Once again:

A good book for any wannabee vets or animal lovers out there. :)

A collection of cute little stories. It made me chuckle a couple of times, but I found that in editing it into a childrens book, it lost most of the 'animal' in the 'animal stories'. Most of the stories were about Marc and Ruth getting the call, them arriving where the animal is or the animal arriving at the clinic, and then a quick speed through of what was wrong and what they did to close the story. Most of the stories spent most of their pages on Marc and Ruth, less so on the animals and the clinic.
