Courage is feeling the fear…then pouring on the throttle.

Abandoned or betrayed by everyone she ever loved, Sera Manning’s life spiraled out of control until a near-death experience left her with a mission. Now a DEA agent, her sole focus—and her first undercover assignment—is to take down a drug cartel that’s manufacturing seductive, deadly angel sugar.

To do it, she needs access to Operation Black Abyss to establish a connection between the cartel and the Death Angels outlaw motorcycle gang. Which means she must pose as a couple with another agent who’s already deep undercover.

ATF agent Ryan Thomas desperately needs a female agent to maintain his cover in the gang, but the last thing he wants is a rookie agent jeopardizing his op. Especially one who is a sexy reminder why it’s a bad idea to get involved while on a case.

Living together, surrounded by crime, pretending their sizzling sexual tension is just for show is getting harder by the day. But as the mission comes to a head, the two fiercely independent warriors must decide which fear is worse. Losing their quarry…or losing each other.

Features a badass biker hero and kickass heroine who go at it undercover—and under the covers.

“Fuck,” he muttered, fisting a handful of her hair and yanking her against him. She gasped, and he knew his erection pressed into her softness. “Let’s just get this over with.”

Once upon a time
, there was a magical place on the internet named Goodreads. And on that place, a lot of people gathered around and talked about books :)
Now, I won't be telling you a story about all those people. No, this is a story about Blacky, and her brave voyage through the land of to-read books, her incredible jorney through reading Hot Ride, and how it changed her life...

One day Blacky logged in on the magical Goodreads site, and saw a recommendation from her dear friend Vishous (don't be fooled by the name, V is not a terrible ogre, she is a sweet pervy lady).
The book was called Hot Ride, and the title itself was enough to get her interested, but then... She saw the cover. Oh yes, it was a sad day in Blacky's life, the cover being khm, not so good, and out of courtesy, she said she'd read it. Someday. Some far far away day.

Time passed. Blacky continued to visit the magical place called Goodreads, make new friends and read an unhealthy number of books.
Then out of nowhere, another good friend, Steph, said she'd like to read the book too. Now, what to do? Steph proposed a buddy read, where they would gather in a ritualistic circle and discuss everything they experience while reading the said book. Vishous wanted to join in the ritual, so poor Blacky had no choice but to agree on reading the book with the oh so khm, bad cover.

Dear readers, you have to know that Blacky had absolutely no idea about anything in the book, except for the title and the khm, bad cover.
She was extremely surprised to discover that the story was really interesting right from the beginning! It was about Sera Manning, trying to infiltrate a biker gang in hope to catch a big drug dealer. Sera came into a bar dressed as a skank, and decided to seduce the most good looking guy in there. Now, at that point Blacky was having heart palpitations because of the description of the guy, and his hair. Yes, poor Blacky developed a fixation on the hero's shoulder-length silky dark hair, and his good looks, and his sexy talk, and the fact that he was a good guy, another agent trying to infiltrate the biker gang!

This was another surprise for our Blacky, because the main story is one of her favorites! The H and h were supposed to be pretending to be a couple, and later were supposed to be living together! After a few happy dances, Blacky managed to get herself together and continue the book.
The chemistry between Sera and Ryan was incredible, and she just couldn't wait for their first kiss. Then they kissed and it was so hot that she couldn't wait for them to have their first sex! Then they had sex and she couldn't wait for them to have it again and again!! And they did it again and again! After a few cold showers, Blacky continued her incredible journey through this hot book, and managed to read it to the end without self-combusting!

Back at the ritualistic circle of friends, everyone was talking about the book, and Blacky joined them. She shared that she absolutely loved the hero and his hair, and that some things were a bit weird (the heroine had an experience which was... well let's just say that it would be normal for a pnr, but in this book, Blacky just couldn't see it fit). Some of the scenes with the drug dealers were boringish, but she somehow ignored most of it thanks to all the incredible hot scenes between the protagonists.

Blacky's path in this story took a nasty turn at one point near the end, where she wanted to b*tch-slap the hero for doing something utterly unforgivable!!! Utterly!!!

Somehow managing to enjoy the end of the book (because of some more hot scenes of course), Blacky realised that this was a great journey through sexyland, longhairland and the best of all, magical land of Goodreads that enabled her to read the book at all.

At the end of the road, Blacky stood watching at the sunset, and thanking the friends who read this book with her, most of all Vishous, for seeing beyond the khm, bad cover, and recommending this book to her!

Blacky's voyages continue even now, you may keep track them on her profile or through her updates...

So long!

Here are some quotes from the book that Blacky prepared :D Read at your own peril :D

"The chemistry between them was all too real, whether either of them wanted to admit it or not, and while they could use it to their advantage, they also had to be damn careful things didn’t get carried away. Like Sera. Over his shoulder. His hand on her ass, carrying her up to their room."

"Every minute, with violence and sex surrounding them, they were on edge, putting on an act, hyperaware of everything going on around them. It was only natural that it would get to them, and maybe they did just need to take the edge off, to let loose with a screaming, toe-curling orgasm. Or two."

"Hell. She kept saying she could look after herself and he was beginning to believe her but even so, even though she’d knocked him on his ass, he found himself feeling unaccountably and annoyingly protective toward Sera. Dammit."

And some dedicated to his hair <3

“Whoever it is, I’ll kill them,” Ryan muttered, raking his own hair back. Long and loose, it brushed his shoulders, and he looked so insanely dangerous and sexy, Sera’s legs almost buckled again.

"She studied his back, the width of his shoulders, the strength in the muscles, her gaze tracking down his back to his ass, so tight and perfect in his jeans, then back up to the nape of his neck where his hair was tied. For some reason, the softness of his neck there looked so vulnerable..."

And some pics that prove that a tough-ass man with long dark hair CAN be sexy as all hell!

I have read a lot of romantic suspense books over the years, and this book is one of my favourites. I enjoy some steam with my romance, and Hot Ride delivered.
I found it hard to rate this book though. I really liked the Tommy/Ryan hero. The gang members were life-like in most ways. I wanted to know more about Manny. I enjoyed all of those characters. Did you notice I have left someone out? The female lead perhaps? Yes. Yes I did. Want to know why? Because she gave me the s**ts. I don't care for hard ass, I so tough, I don't need anyone females.
Thankfully at the end Sera made it up to me, so I forgive her, and then Ryan went and did something I didn't like and so I had to transfer my annoyance to him.
All in all this was a great book. The pace was fast, there was enough steam to keep me happy, the hero was a sexy hottie and at no time did I wish I was reading something else. Only reason it didn't get the full five stars was Sera.
I will look at other books from this author in the future.

WOW, WOW, A MILLION WOWS!!! To say that i was blown away, would be an UNDERSTATEMENT!!! This was romantic suspense at its BEST!

Hot Ride had EVERYTHING! A kick-ass storyline, a SERIOUSLY smokin' HAWT, totally ALPHA male and enough heat that i had to reach for BOTH the fan AND the freezer!

I CONSUMED this book in less than one day and for me, that is a sure mark of an AWESOME read!!! All i can say is Ms. Jamieson, you NEED to write more romantic suspense because you TOTALLY ROCK at it!!!

My thoughts....

Well this book fell flat for me. First let me start by saying that it is a romantic suspense, well I suppose it was supposed to be. The characters Ryan and Sera are undercover agents working for the ATF and DEA. They were infiltrating a hardcore motorcycle club....now let me stop right here and elaborate. First the motorcycle club didn't at all seem hardcore, I just never got that scary edgy vibe when reading about them. The impression I took from them was "motorcycle gang" not club. Then there was Sera and Ryan or "Sara and Tommy" which was their undercover names. Now these two were about as transparent as glass! Who meets an MC and with in two maybe three weeks your asking for a shit load of drugs....I don't know it just bothered me it was so freaking unbelievable. These two would of been choked out in the real world! Ok enough of that...now on to the sexy stuff. At first I have to admit I was really liking this book, I thought the two characters had great chemistry. That scene in the motel with Manny in the same room was hot...when he said "open" I was like "hell yea!" Then it just stopped I swear from that point on it just stopped.....flat! I didn't even think I was reading the same book. I never felt a connection after that with Sera or Ryan and I hated that because people had written such great things about this book. All in all it's definitely not the worst book I've ever read, I just don't think it was for me however I'm not discouraging someone else from giving it a try.

I can't explain it but I just love books where the hero/heroine have to go undercover. The heroine works for the DEA and has to infiltrate a motorcycle club where the hero an ATF agent is already uncover. The mission is personal for the heroine because the club destroyed her mother and her too. The hero isn't happy working with someone who has no undercover experience but they have no choice.

I liked how the heroine was so gutsy and could take care of herself, she went in to prove herself the first time when the hero and others weren't even aware of her mission and despite her mission she cared about the women she saw, who were being abused. Yes, there were moments she irritated me and her amateur status showed because it seemed like she was being reckless and was over-reaching but it was all tied to what almost happened to her as a teenager.

Now, the hero was a little less sketched out but I liked him. The best part of the book was the smoking chemistry between the characters and a hero who didn't mind being vulnerable and putting his feelings out there.

Massive thanks to Blacky, Vishous, Shanna, Shelley and Silkeee (sorry if I missed anyone) for a really great Buddy-Read. It wouldn't have been the same without you :)

I have been desperate to read this book since its release a few months ago, and it totally lived up to my expectations. I enjoyed every single page.

Ryan Thomas/Tommy might just be one of my favourite hero's. I adored him. His job means the world to him and he puts his heart and soul into every case. He wants to help people be safe and to make a difference.

The connection and sexual chemistry between Ryan and Sera was incredible, right from the word go. They were insanely attracted to one another, but also neither willing to back down. Sera wanted to prove that she could take care of herself, that she's his equal and that she could put him in his place if she wanted to. Watching her do exactly that was priceless.

'With a sharp extension of her leg, she laid the ball of her foot in the centre of his chest in a stop kick just as he made a move towards her.
Ryan landed hard on his ass...

"I said, get out."
"Oh no."
He shook his head, rubbed his butt with one hand."You're going to pay for that, angel."
Ryan was ready to chew bullets and spit them out. There was no possible way she could have done that. But she had. That was going to leave a bruise on his ass. A girl had just knocked him on his ass. Jesus. The humiliation stung more than his butt.
Clearly she'd just caught him by surprise.'

Ahahahaha, amazing!

He also had such a wonderfully tender side, I really loved that about him.
"Sera," he gasped, pulsing inside her. "I know you're going in alone tomorrow, but know this... I love you. You're not alone. Never alone."

Sera was an amazing heroine. She'd overcome such an awful situation, had made the best of it and did something great with her life.
I think I connected to her so deeply because I know that feeling, of watching a parent let a bad person into their life and have to watch them destroy themselves slowly, one day at a time. That just hit a personal note for me.
Sera is so strong willed, determined to help people and put the 'bad guys' where they belong.

The only negative I do have about this book was the whole 'I saw a white light... I chose to come back because I had a mission to do...'
It's nothing personal, it was just a bit much for me. I felt it didn't add to the story in any way, just made her sound a bit crazy. Then when it happened again with Ryan, it was a *rolls eyes* moment. Sorry :(
This was such a great read for me. The storyline about 'Angel Dust' was brilliant. Despite some of them being real arseholes, I liked living in the Biker world and seeing it in all its glory.
Also the romance was smokin' hot too, which never hurts ;)

I will definitely read more from this author.

I'm very happy that I read this book, it was a very enjoyable read and it kept me interested all the way through. I really liked the story line and would love to read more like it. Kelly did a fantastic job with ALL the characters in this book. The romance side of the story was also good, I could feel the sparks flying between the H&h. The sex/love scenes were VERY SPICEY.
The action near the end of the book was excellent and I loved how the story ended.

This was not my first Kelly Jamieson read and it will not be the last.

2.5 but I’m rounding up, tis the season and all that jazz.

As I was reading this I kept wondering why I wasn't getting into it
? Why did it feel a little flat? It has all of the elements I look for when I set out to read about hot undercover agents trying to bring down a group of drug dealing, gun running bikers: mainly hot undercover agents and bikers. Shouldn’t that be enough? Unfortunately this book just wasn’t ENOUGH for me, in any respect. The sexual tension between the two main characters was off the charts and kudos to that, but once that’s explored I felt like neither of the characters was really fleshed out personality wise. Some past tragedies are introduced, but for the most part they were undercover agents. Period .Other than some hot undercover cop on undercover cop action, these two pretty much argued the entire book. How they eventually fell in love is a mystery to me. By the end I could feel the mutual respect but was nowhere near buying “I don’t want to live without you” love. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by Sons of Anarchy but the bikers didn’t meet the bad ass bar for me, either. I guess when it all said and done I just wanted more. More action, more suspense, a deeper romance or any combination of the above would’ve gotten the job done. Unfortunately, I just wasn’t feeling it.

Didn't care for the story, found it slow paced and boring. The leads had zero chemistry and there's no way I'd buy them being undercover agents. Disappointing read.

I was invited to be a part of a blog tour for Kelly Jamieson’s new release, Hot Ride. Well, I didn’t want to be part of a blog tour for a book I never read, or didn’t like, so the publisher sent me an early copy. I will tell you this, the description kind of sold me:

Warning: Features a badass biker hero and kickass heroine who go at it undercover—and under the covers.

Hello? You had me badass biker hero! The book opens with a meeting between the ATF and the DEA discussing adding a female agent to the team investigating an OMG (Outlaw Motorcycle Gang) Sera Manning is a DEA agent who has worked her whole career to get into this undercover job (her first) with the Death Angels, a motorcycle gang based outside of L.A.. When she is brought into the gang’s bar-hangout, she immediately sees a big gorgeous guy, and decides she might as well hook up with the hottest guy there.

The sexual tension is immediate. She is already gushing (literally) over ‘Tommy’, and he is hot for her as well…until she scores some drugs. ‘Tommy’ is really deep undercover ATF agent Ryan Thomas, and when he realizes ‘Sara’ is actually Sera Manning the DEA agent, he is surprised, and at first refuses to work with someone so inexperienced. But he needs a girlfriend for his cover, and she had already fit the bill so nicely…

So they are paired up. Partners. With surveillance on them at all times, and Ryan’s other partner always around. Getting personally involved with someone on a case is obviously not a good thing, so they try to keep their hands off each other in private, while they are a couple in public. But they can’t.

The sex was totally hot, and I liked the way Kelly Jamieson writes it, with enough detail without going over the top. There is a light BDSM side to it as well, which definitely made it even better.

She had no idea why this man dominating her, inflicting sweet pain on her like that, doing things to her that no man ever had, thrilled her right to her very essence.

And then she knew why.

He wasn’t dominating her in the sense that he wanted to control everything she did. He believed in her, which no one ever had. He respected her abilities and treated her like his equal. What they did in bed had nothing to do with that–and everything to do with it. It was all about the pleasure she got from the things he did. He knew what she liked, what she wanted, what she needed and he gave it to her. She trusted him with her life, in any situation, including sex.

She was in love with him.

I had a bit of a hard time getting into the book. I received an advanced copy with a lot of formatting issues, so I must say, that may be partly, or even completely to blame. Because at around 35% in, I asked for another copy, then I didn’t put it down until I finished.

Not only did I enjoy watching the relationship develop, but the case was exciting as hell. It is easy to see how caught up in undercover work these agents can get, and I think it was portrayed very well.

Likes:

-A kick ass female heroine.
-The realism of ‘Tommy’ getting personally involved with the guys he was trying to bust.
-Also the realism of cops having to look the other way when crimes are committed so they don’t blow cover.
-Sera’s horrible childhood coming back into play.
-The sexual tension was through the roof.
-I loved the way Ryan trusted Sera to be a strong woman, his equal, yet was still ready to back her up.

Dislikes:

-The beginning seemed almost detached, like a narrator giving the background.
-The beginning also had way too many abbreviations. Seeing the OMG written so many times kept throwing me off.
-I wish there was an epilogue. How can undercover agents maintain a relationship?

Rating: 4 stars 4 for heat (great sex, but not an over the top amount)

I really ended up enjoying this story despite my difficulty at the beginning. Again, the formatting of my copy may have been a big part of the problem. A problem you won’t have. The book was 313 pages, and I never moved from around page 100 on, which is when I got the new copy, but also when the story really started to pick up. This is romantic suspense, and I enjoyed having a little more of the suspense to go with a HAWT ROMANCE.

On October 1st, I will be the last stop on Kelly Jamieson’s Hot Ride blog tour with for this book. She will be giving away a Kindle as well as two motorcycle thumb drives with the book of your choice. You can enter now by clicking the rafflecopter link below, or wait until she is here on the blog doing a guest post!

Hot ride is the story of two undercover agenst from two different agencies being thrown together to bring down a bikie gang. They have an instant attraction to each other and struggle to keep things professional, although it could mean their jobs or there lives if they stuff this mission up.

This book had some stellar reviews so I thought I would give it ago. I am glad I did because it was a solid enjoyable read. But while I am saying that I had a few problems with this book.
I felt a bit disconnected to the heroine Sera, she seemed to make some really stupid mistakes with her job, and to me felt like a bit of an amatuer.
I wasn't feeling her weird feelings around her neighbour to me she just came off rude and even though her behaviour was explained later in the book she still came across as childish in her actions to him.
Steam factor, I was feeling it in the beginning, but maybe it's because the books story slowed down for me in the middle, the steam started to slow down for me (what is wrong with me? I love steam!!)
Like a said before the pacing of this book was a bit off, it had lulls where I actually found myself skimming to get to more interesting bits.
It was a good suspensful romance but not great, still an easy read and one I reckon if you had the time you could sit and read in one sitting.

I really love romantic suspense, and I really loved the romance and the suspense in this one. I had quite high expectations and this didn't disappoint.

I adored Ryan so much. He's a total alpha male but he's also a total gentleman. My favourite kind of male. He was so sweet and caring, yet confident and hot. The tenderness he showed towards Sera numerous times throughout this made my toes curl.

"Sera," he gasped, pulsing inside her. "I know you're going in alone tomorrow, but know this... I love you. You're not alone. Never alone."

I know a lot of readers had a problem with Sera's extremely tough exterior and her total belief that she doesn't need anyone, and that she's better off alone. But when you take into consideration her past, you can't help but understand why she is the way she is.

The sexual chemistry between the Ryan and Sera was off the charts, scorching hot, right from the beginning when they first laid eyes on each other. So steamy and passionate. The scene when he pinned her down on her stomach and completely dominated her. UNF! This was me during that scene...

The plot was fantastic and the pace was good. It was great to see the dynamic of tan outlaw motorcycle gang and the way they are. Violent and abusive criminals, dominant and controlling, yet loyal and almost kind in the way they look out for their fellow gang members. It was very interesting the way the author portrayed it.

Like many other readers have said, I could have done without the whole seeing a light in a near death experience. I just don't think it added anything extra in this book. And what the author did towards the end with Ryan. I didn't like it, it was almost too unpredictable for my liking.

It's still worth a read though, and I'd definitely recommend it.

This was a great story! I think the author did a wonderful job of blending a hot, sexy romance with an action story about 2 undercover Federal agents trying to bust a MC that breaks a lot of laws (drugs, guns, murder, etc...). I loved both the action and romance plot lines of this story.

Sera is coming in to an undercover Op that Ryan is a part of. His agency needs a female agent to go undercover but they have none available. Her agency has a lead on a drug lab that's tied in to Ryan's case so Sera is brought in. I really liked Sera. She's closed in and doesn't rely on anyone at first but we find out the reasons for it later. She is very smart and can take care of herself. Unfortunately in her line of work she's always having to prove herself and the same holds true with Ryan (at least at first).

Ryan is a great hero. He's one of the rare guys that is able to treat his woman as an equal. OK, he was a little Alpha at first but has Sera starts to prove herself he treats her more and more like a true partner. It's hard for him though because he's attracted to her and has the urge to protect her.

Both Sera and Ryan feel a strong attraction to each other from the very beginning which translates in to some hot and sexy romance. The emotions that build between Sera and Ryan as they worked together and tried (with no success) to fight their attraction to each other were well done and believable to me. There were times (esp at the end) where I actually teared up (sometimes happy tears, sometime not). The undercover agent story line is very well done and I liked the complexity without it being boring. This story kept me well engaged and I read it very quickly. The few times I stopped to do something else I fond myself thinking about the story and wondering how it would progress.

I loved Sera and Ryan's shared experience and the reason why he had to return. This was a great action/romance story. I'd recommend it. 2 thumbs up. :D

Sera/Sara Manning goes undercover to take down a drug cartel. Posing as the new girlfriend of undercover ATF agent, Ryan Thomas aka Tommy, Sera may have bit off more than she could chew. Set in the world of Harleys and motorcycle gangs.

This actually barely made 4 stars for me. It was a decent read and had all the elements I like in a romance but it barely qualifies as a romance. It is more of an erotica/suspense book with romantic elements. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the hero and heroine. I think the characters could have used a little more development. I also didn't care for the heroine very much. She was new at her job and didn't want advice from the more experienced agents. Borderlined on TSTL.

3.5 hot read....but
if your looking for a biker book that has all sexy bikers and talking about the ins and outs and there kind of love like the un-fucking-believable books Undeniable, Reapers Property, or Motorcycle Man, this is not that book!! not saying this book is bad but I came into it thinking I was getting more bikers but I did get a sexy cop!
This book is about taking down the biker club DA with undercover cops, Ryan/Tommy, Manny, who I actually thought we should of had more of, he was kinda irrelevant in the book even though he was supposed to be Ryans partner, and then Sera/Sara.

This is about undercover agents who love there jobs and are determined to take down the DA's no matter what. Tommy is a veteran in his career he had been undercover a couple months just getting loads of dirt on the biker gang, with all the drug dealing, the murders, and the guns!! Sara is a very energetic amateur in her field but wants in on this undercover op, she was very determined!! After finally begging enough she's in and things are progressing. But the sexual tension between these two is off the charts!! Very hot and steamy!

They think maybe giving into each other one time will extinguish the tension, but really!? It drives them crazier for each other!
This undercover op is making them stressed and they have to make sure to do everything the biker gang wants of them they can't risk blowing this.
Sara so independent, she doesn't want to rely on anyone, she never has and never will. She can't, she won't get hurt by someone she loves.
But Ryan gets in, somehow through this undercover sting, they form true bonds and not only sexually, although I'm sure it didn't hurt, lol.
He finally confesses how he feels right before they prepare for a BIG setup

"I LOVE YOU, SERA."-ryan
"I DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR LOVE IN MY LIFE,"
"ANYONE WHO'S EVER LOVED ME, BETRAYED ME.LEFT ME.I DO BETTER JUST ON MY OWN."- sera

There relationship revolved around there undercover op, and during all the bullshit they have had to go through within those months they got close started trusting each other and got real feelings! Sera thinking her independence was all she needed but really always lonely but not admitting it and Ryan fighting her walls breaking her defenses to finally get to her heart!

"I'M WITH YOU ALWAYS.FOREVER.I PROMISE." he whispered. "YOU'LL NEVER BE ALONE AGAIN."-ryan

"NEITHER WILL YOU."-sera

Not exactly what i was expecting (not in a bad way) but i wanted my biker fix again. This wasn't it! But a hot, steamy read.

Impressions and Opinion

Kelly Jamieson built two really strong characters. I couldn't find any fault for both. Their connections was amazing from the beginning and their struggles very much like real life.
The book started a little slow, but through out the read it grew in complexity. The author touched some very delicate subjects with grace and heart. She also managed some unexpected moments at the end.

I wish for an epilogue for this book. I found the ending a little abrupt and my HEA-heart wanted some hard proofs of how well they stayed together.

I will be looking at some other books of this author. Really amazing read!

Okay, here's the deal. I just didn't find this believable. Why? They both asked too many questions! Anyone would be suspicious. Especially for the new girl in town, in a group that doesn't respect women, to come in asking who the major suppliers are in a drug operation? Yeah, give me a break. Then to have followers all the time? Someone will see that, I don't care how good you are. If you are "deep" undercover, you don't have a lot of contact with your superiors. You don't go back to your own home. You don't talk to your family. And for the love of all things to love you do NOT talk about the case when you are still at a party and people can over hear you. Also, you probably shouldn't use real names...ever! Too much of a chance to screw up.

I did like how Sera could knock Ryan on his ass and take care of herself. I liked the chemistry between them. But, that's really about it. Everything else was unbelievable in my opinion.

Then what happened at the end?

I feel like this one just fell a little flat for me. In a way it was a bit boring to me. The two characters had great sexual tension and the sex scenes were really steamy, but the rest of the story was a bit blah.

The "bikers"in this book were a little too simple, not very bad ass. It was a little cheesy and not bad or real enough. Sometimes the suspense part of the book was too long and drawn out, a bit boring. It also seemed to take forever for me to get Sera and Ryan to finally get it on...but when they did...holy wow!! It was soo Hot! Some really awesome sex scenes.

This book was dry.... the story line sucked and it wrapped up to quickly. the most entertaining characters in this book were the villains, Sera and Ryan bored me to death, they gave them such a great back story (Sera's past life, Ryan's mom) but that was about it. Character development to me was poor, the story line was predictable, more development with the DA story line should have been done. It was too rushed. I give it 2 stars cause i loved the Villains.. Not as in i love drug dealers or abusers, but they seemed more real than the main characters..

DEA agent Sera Manning has a personnel interest in bringing down a drug cartel responsible for selling a new seductive drug known as angel sugar. The perfect opportunity arises to go undercover with the motorcycle gang, the Death Angels, and she wants in. What she didn't count on was having to pose as the girlfriend of the wickedly sexy ATF agent, Ryan Thomas aka Tommy, to help him make his cover even more convincing.

Ryan Thomas needs a female agent to pose as his girlfriend. When he's paired with a rookie agent, he's more than displeased – not only could her inexperience blow the whole operation, but it could also get them all killed. Their chemistry burns white hot, and that's enough to cement their place with the DAs, however it doesn't take long before the lines between reality and make-believe begin to blur. Though neither of them wanted it to happen, they can't deny their feelings for each other. When the time comes to wrap up the case, it's possible that everything they've shared will come to a deadly end.

Can we just take a moment to enjoy the sexy cover!? This was my first book by this author and I really liked it! I think this was a first for me – an alpha male AND an alpha female as the main characters, and what a pair they made! Sera's unpleasant and difficult childhood molded her into the tough-as-nails woman. She has no family or friends, just her job to which she dedicates the majority of her time and her life. Shes a loner, and she prefers to keep it that way. When she meets Ryan, she's troubled by her attraction towards him, but when she realizes that he's the agent who could get her closer to achieving her goal, she decides to play along.

Ryan was the perfect counterpart to Sera in every way. Where she's impulsive, almost to the point of being reckless, he prefers to be cautious and not go into a situation half-cocked. He's using to being in charge and telling others what to do. Sera doesn't like being told what to do , she hates being underestimated and patience isn't one of her virtues. Naturally those two butt heads all the time! Of course Ryan enjoys getting her riled up. And what do you know ... they both get turned on by it. The sexual tension was thicker than London fog!

There was hardly ever a dull moment in this story. Perhaps the only thing that bothered me a little was Sera's carelessness. DAs were known for keeping their women on a tight leash, either through intimidation or via drugs. Now, picture Sera acting docile. I was never sure whether she's play by the rules or whether she'd "go rouge" at the first opportunity. I loved that bit of uncertainty and tension. The author briefly touched on an interesting facet of undercover work – the possibility of going so far under that you one nearly forgets their true identity. And how far is one willing to go for the sake of it all? That just added another interesting layer to the drama. There was a very memorable scene dealing with the passing of Ryan's mother, and the contrasting reactions he received from this work colleagues and the members of the gang. The ending seemed a little corny, but it did tie in with Sera's past and it just fit the story.

I noticed only one minor discrepancy, but on the whole I highly recommend this story if you like a scorching hot romance involving federal agents and strong-willed characters. I'll definitely read more from this author in the future.

In advance of the author's upcoming book tour, I received a review copy from the book tour organizer, with the author's permission.

I've said it before, but Ms. Jamieson really creates great characters.

We have Sera, a DEA agent with no undercover experience, and Ryan, an ATF agent, currently undercover going after a motorcyle gang. I loved how they met... how they were drawn to each other even before they had to work together. And I wanted to hurt Ryan when he disparaged Sera's lack of undercover experience. Everyone has to start somewhere, right? So now their respective cases have forced them together -- they are to "pretend" to be a couple to get closer to the gang members and learn more about the operation. And it seems such a hardship for them to pretend to be attracted (sarcasm, lol). I thought it was interesting, too, that the gang members treated them more like friends than the people in their real lives. I really liked that Ryan ended up experiencing what Sera had experienced, so he had a new appreciation for it. And I really liked that he didn't think she was crazy for admitting her secret to him. I also liked that Sera was strong and could take care of herself, yet she allowed herself to submit to Ryan. And that she recognized that she'd never submit for anyone but him. And Ryan respected her ability to take care of herself.

The story surrounding the Sera and Ryan couple story was interesting and kept me wondering what would happen until the end. The *one* thing is I want an epilogue!!! When I get wrapped up in the characters, I really want to know where they end up. If this was first in a series, I could have patience (sorta, lol) and wait to see how the story unfolds in the next one, but this one doesn't look like first in a series. Maybe it will be. Then I can be happy. :-) But I was happy with how this ended... I just wanted more.
