Robert Muchamore was born in Islington, London in 1972. He still lives there, and worked as a private investigator up until 2005 and the critically-accepted release of Maximum Security.

The Hunger Games phenomenon is part of the huge YA / Children's book explosion that has grown, thanks to the British Rat pack of YA authors, Anthony Horowitz, Robert Muchamore, Mark A. Cooper and Charlie Higson. We owe much of the hunger games sucess to authors such as Robert.

Robert was inspired to create the CHERUB series by his nephew after he complained about the lack of anything for them to read. CHERUB: The Recruit was Robert's first book and won the Red House Children's Book Award 2005 in the Older Readers Category.

Following the last book in the CHERUB series, it was revealed that a trilogy would be released starting from August 2011 that will focus on a new set of CHERUB agents centred upon Ryan Sharma and also involve an sixteen year old Lauren Adams. The first book will be called People's Republic.

Check out the Hendersons Boys series. Henderson's Boys is a series of young adult spy novels written by English author Robert Muchamore. The series follows Charles Henderson, the creator of the fictitious CHERUB organisation.
CHERUB is currently being made into a TV series.

After only a few short days of not being able to pick the book down in anticipation of what will happen on the final page, I am done reading The General by Robert Muchamore, which is the 10th book in the CHERUB series.

The book is a lot different from all the other books in the series, because it's almost like the series takes a break from all the intense missions and fights and has a little fun. It's almost like a relaxing vacation from the series so it's not always so intense and wild. It's really a genius idea by Robert Muchamore to put something that gives the readers a break for a little bit. And even though this may sound boring, it's fantastic because after reading nine books of action, the action doesn't seem as good. So the purpose of Muchamore was to give the series a break and when it returns, it seems even better. Pure Genius.

The General was about James Adams and his younger sister Lauren,( Who both work for the top secret British government organization CHERUB, that trains children to work as spies,), and a group of other CHERUB members, that are selected to do a training exercise with ( against) the US Army at a brand new compound designed to simulate urban warfare. The compound basically looks like a city and civilians are paid to come and stay over the course of a week to simulate civilians in war. Although this seems like very serious stuff, the reality is, the training is a game of war with high tech paintball guns that remove you from the game for 24 hours. But, while the US Army is expecting the training to be easy and routine, the general for the opposing side has another idea and a trick that he needs to win.

The book is fun to read and really enjoyable while also very well written. Robert Muchamore is a complete genius for a number of things. The first one is the "break" he included in the series. so many series don't do that and it becomes tiring to read. The second is the fact that with children spies, the entire series can escalate out of proportion and become ridiculously cheesy. There are far too many books that sound good, but destroy themselves because the author gets too unrealistic. The third, as I have said so many times before, is the ability Muchamore has to teeter on the edge of reality with his book ideas. Making them exciting but still with realistic plots.

What the book clearly displays, is that the main character James, ( of whom I have become attached to) is 16 and a half years old and is almost done with his CHERUB career. In the last few books Muchamore has tried to conceal the fact a little bit, but in The General, he becomes more open, as James realizes that he basically has nothing left in his career and wants "One last Hooray". He achieves this by after being excluded from the training for his own safety, go to Las Vegas and helps his general win at the tables, by cardcounting. A technique that is used in blackjack to keep track of your odds of winning a hand. James is a great math student and the counting comes naturally. And after being discovered, he makes a narrow escape to conclude the thrilling ending of the book.

Although there is to be another book that will be James' last appearance as a CHERUB agent. Muchamore is, to my dislike, setting up the series to switch over to Lauren. The real thrill of the series was how funny, likable, and daring James was, so when it does, I am contemplating not reading the series because Lauren is not a character that I particularly like. I'm sure James will still be in a couple of them as a MI6 agent or something but the series won't be the same. I'm really looking forward to the next book though and hope it sends James out with a bang.

These are the books i would read if i think I'm about to get into a reading slump This is the 10th book in the cherub series I am really loving these books just seeing how all the characters were growing up I stop reading these books a few years ago because I didn't like the character Lauren James his sister and was feeling like it was coming all about her
The book unlike most of the series starts with James in the middle of a mission. However the mission fails and when James comes back to campus something worse than that was waiting.
While James was busy in his mission, his girl friend Dana was cheating on him. This information leaks from a single photo which Kevin takes on his phone which showed Dana and Michael on James' bed. In a lot of ways I thought right on because of the way he used to treat Kerry
James embarks on an American soldier-training mission, in a newly opened compound called Fort Reagan, located in the Nevada desert, with nine other fellow CHERUB agents and they've got out in portrait and take down the compound what they successively do

Most boring book in the series unfortunately - I thought the same when I was a kid but was curious to see if I’d enjoy it more now. Found the training exercise v boring (most of the book) but it gets two stars for the blackjack card counting side-story and relationship drama. I find James’s catastrophic love life very entertaining.

I loved this book so much, but I had to give it 4 stars because it got off to a slow-ish start. I like my books to get off to a crazy fast start. But this book is one I could not put down. There is more action and comedy in The General than the other books in the series making it one of the best books in the series, no doubt about it.

The book was about a military training exercise for Britain and the USA. Britain uses ten Cherub Agents (a branch of the British Army that uses kids under 18) and ...spoiler alert... absolutely wrecks the Americans. My favorite part was when James, one of the Cherub Agents, got tricked by a cute girl for the United States Army into an interrogation. I love a good trick.

This has always been my favourite CHERUB book. Despite being somewhat fragmented - there's no plotline that runs through the whole book and I have no idea who 'The General' is - each section is brilliant fun and inventive in the way it puts CHERUB agents in new and exciting scenarios. I love the airport sequence, as well as the training in America, and the Las Vegas heist to round it off. Brilliant book, that starts the series on it's ending trajectory. 5 stars.

In this addition to the Cherub series, we have a few different plot lines that happen; from Lauren leading a group to test airport security, James infiltrating an anarchist group in order to get evidence needed so they can arrest the leader, and even a bunch of Cherubs getting the chance to try out their tactics in a "real" war environment - facing American soldiers as insurgents during some official "war games" put on by the US Military.

This novel is probably one of the more fast-paced in the Cherub series so far, so much so that I legitimately thought I was nearing the end of the novel when I was only a third of the way through (ahh, the perils of reading eBooks :P) because just so much had happened already at this stage! I really enjoyed how despite the amount of action that was crammed into the novel, it didn't feel like anything was rushed or left unanswered.

It was pretty great getting to see how Cherubs would fare against "regular" military, as I felt this was probably the first time that they were able to truly test their metal against other government-trained personnel. You could definitely see the difference in the training, and in the way they were taught to handle situations... especially with Kazakov as the tactical leader (the US troops did not see ANY of his plans coming, holy crap XD). It was also hilarious to see just how much chaos one pissed off Ukranian could cause with some well-trained Cherubs under his command ;D

Cherub: the general is the 10th book in the cherub series and has a crime genre. The story was exciting, but also mysterious. I would recommend this book to boys and girls of any age between around 12 to 16, because it has a confusing story, and deals with fairly mature feature, such as drugs and terrorists.

This book was a positive reading experience for me because it shows how a small force can outsmart an overpowering enemy. It was a good reading experience because it was interesting to see the big details of the training mission and how the military trains its troops to fight in places like Afghanistan and other places that hold urban warfare. I loved this book because I am interested in the military and how it works so a book on a training mission to train American troops to fight in urban areas was a really good pick for me.

This book was very exciting to read, we explored a turn in James life and a dilemma in a mission he and his friends were in. James talks to a friend he hadn’t talked to for a year, whilst also becoming very sad as someone betrayed his trust as he was very faithful to them.

They are all sent on a fake mission in the second biggest army base in the world to perform as the 'red team' as soldiers are trained for urban warfare. Kazakov is in charge of 'red teaming' and takes things too far, with military-grade laxatives and blowing up 6,000,000 dollars of drones. He was then asked to leave when the red team won against the soldiers way too quickly. they then redid the exercise with some added rules.

I thought that this book was quite interesting as it was based on warfare. This is a crime story and is part 10 of the cherub series. I liked this book as it had quite a lot of dramatic events which made the book even more entertaining and engaging to read. The ending is quite good and I would recommend for people who are fine with some bad language and there is some potentially dangerous content in the book such as sexual relationships etc.

Unlike the preceding books in the Cherub series, the plot line is not centred around a mission at stake. Instead takes a break from the formula and throws some fun at our characters. The setting takes place at a U.S. military training base, Fort Reagan, Las Vegas, Nevada. The task at hand concentrates at extra training for 10 undercover agents including the main protagonists James and his sister Lauren, plus their friends Rat Rathbone, Kerry Chang, Bruce Norris and Kevin Sumner. 'For official purposes, these children don't exist'.

Personally I was sad to finish this book so quickly AS IT WAS THE BEST IN SERIES SO FAR. The story is punchy with exciting action scenes that enticed me to read for hours, making it very hard to put down.

The story introduces with James' mission in London to get information on demoting an anarchist protestor, turning terrorist. On the contrary, Lauren's focus is on a mission on testing a new airport terminal to expose its security weaknesses before grand opening. For both plots, their missions go awry as James faces a mission with multiple intelligence organisations on the case, aborting the mission and eventually James fails to escape and gets captured by the police. On the other hand, Lauren mission with her fellow Cherubs has been disrupted with the encounter of the military. Both scenes have very funny parts and gripping description to entice the reader to continue on.

During James mission, we find out that Dana, James girlfriend is not all she seems. In fact, she is caught two timing with a fellow older Cherub. I felt with this moment with Dana's cheating was a moral. Regardless she considers it as 'fun', this catalysed a domino effect, effecting several people including James. Especially when he tries to redeem his love life throughout the course of the story. Fun and games can come at an expense, even small actions can have consequence. However for all we know we find out later, that James' first love, Kerry has just broken up, which makes me think it's going to be a potential topic to draw attention to in the next book.

The bulk of the General is focus at Fort Reagan where Muchamore focuses on action and character exposition. For instance, shining light on James failed attempts at a romantic love life. However, I enjoyed the development on Ukrainian trainer (Yosyp) Kazakov's character as there is little knowledge established so far about his background. In fact, the Cherub series hasn't expanded on the personas of the staff at Cherub throughout the novels that much. Kazakov's main aspect was his anti-American attitude which made for some comedic parts challenging the American armed forces and culture.
Despite the entertainment, Muchamore continues to point out serious topics in reality such as the weakness of the U.S. military in combat and behaviour of the British police force towards criminals.

Considering I am steering towards the end of the CHERUB series, it's quite sad to see the reality of the fact that these characters are on the dawn of growing up and leaving the CHERUB life. In this book it investigates in small depth of what the next step is for James Adams. It teases with the idea that James wants to become a professional con artist in the word of card gambling, more specifically blackjack. What is more, despite the series is drawing to a close, I still feel like our main character still needs more time to grow up, especially with behaviour towards girls. Nevertheless I still love James' mischievous character which is a dynamic Muchamore explores more so than Mad Dogs and Sleepwalker. Also, anyways just because you have to grow up, doesn't mean you to have to grow up.

In conclusion, I very much enjoyed this book as I have so established in this review with both its humour and drama.

Rating: 5/5

This' book target audience is for teens mainly boys, but I believe that series this can be enjoyed by female teenagers as well. I would definitely recommend the whole series.

This is a book you can lost in and let hours pass and is the series that started me to read again. TRULY RECOMMEND.

I enjoyed The General because of the constant action. From within Fort Reagan, where James is in a tight situation with a pain grenade that will blow any second with nowhere to go, to cheating casinos of thousands of dollars. I also enjoyed the chase for James when he is caught helping Kazakov to count cards, and the tensity of the situation.

The General by Robert Muchmore is the 2nd last book in the cherub series.
This was my favorite part as this leads to a mass battle between Michael and James.
Another part I liked was when the red shirts (cherubs under 10) all rushed to get their christmas presents. The description of how all the red shirts waits outside the door which has the presents was interesting and funny as it described in such a great way how desperate and excited the kids were to get the presents.
I also liked the part Kazakov talks to general Shirley through handsets as everything Kazakov says is a insult based on truth showing how his army of little kids (Cherubs) won to a bunch of military soldiers which general Shirley took charge of.
I really enjoyed this book as it has a mix of funny and serious parts which makes it enjoyable for any reader. Although it is one of a series anyone will still get the story. Since there is some sick parts I would recommend this book to anyone who is above 12.

CHERUB is a branch of MI5 focused on expertly training young agents to travel across the globe on top secret missions, hoping to earn higher ranks, ‘CHERUB agents have one crucial advantage: adults never suspect that kids are spying on them’ is part of the blurb to every CHERUB book in the series, this being the tenth. James embarks on an American soldier-training mission, in a newly opened compound called Fort Reagan, located in the Nevada desert, with nine other fellow CHERUB agents and around thirty soldiers from the British Royal Air Force on his side.

I remember attempting to read this book a while ago, but getting bored of it some way in, now, reading through it again, I remember why I got so intrigued by the CHERUB series, and I recommend this book to others, even though many have probably already read the whole series, I have two more to read after this.

This was a sensational book; the way it is written just makes it a book that you want to read over and over again. As this book is not part of the fantasy genre, its creative and subtle snippets of fantasy make it seem to good to be true. The story is mind-blowing and an amazing text to read. In this story, the cherubs go off to an American army base camp to 'pretend fight' or a war simulator against the Americans. The elements that are true make the story more believable and not over the top. Which are that they go to real places in the world and do things that I do. I wonder why the author would write this story because it doesn't really connect to the rest of the series? Overall this was a great book to read and enjoy and I will read it over and over again.

O Kazakov partiu-me toda!
Adoro a nostalgia que sinto quando leio estes livros! Espero que o próximo seja fenomenal!!!
