When we last saw JJ and Lori Shultz, their dinner was rudely interrupted by someone at the door with a gun. In this second episode of GETTING DUMPED, we learn who’s brandishing the pistol and follow along as the girls’ sleuthing kicks into high gear.
Who can JJ trust to help, and who’s hiding sinister secrets? Is it Collin, the surly British science geek? Pete, the D-list action-hero turned secretary? Or Daniel, the on-again, off-again boyfriend? Tune in, turn on, and help decide! Oh, did we mention that we’ve dialed up the sizzling sexiness, too?
GETTING DUMPED PART 2 is the second installment of an Active Fiction series from Coliloquy. In Part 2, Tawna gives you three tantalizing choice Who should JJ contact when she needs a little comfort? Who should she ask for some sleuthing help? And what does she do when things get dangerous and she’s in need of rescue? Depending on your choices, you not only unlock different paths to solve the mystery but you’ll also get to know one of the guys a bit more intimately.
When Tawna Fenske finished her English lit degree at 22, she celebrated by filling a giant trash bag full of romance novels and dragging it everywhere until she’d read them all. Now she’s a RITA Award finalist, USA Today bestselling author who writes humorous fiction, risqué romance, and heartwarming love stories with a quirky twist. Publishers Weekly has praised Tawna’s offbeat romances with multiple starred reviews and noted, “There’s something wonderfully relaxing about being immersed in a story filled with over-the-top characters in undeniably relatable situations. Heartache and humor go hand in hand.”
Tawna lives in Bend, Oregon, with her husband, step-kids, and a menagerie of ill-behaved pets. She loves hiking, snowshoeing, standup paddleboarding, and inventing excuses to sip wine on her back porch. She can peel a banana with her toes and loses an average of twenty pairs of eyeglasses per year. To find out more about Tawna and her books, visit www.tawnafenske.com.
How do people make it through life without a sister? ~Sara Corpening
The Schultz Sister – JJ and Lori – are facing a serious dilemma at the end of Part 1 … leading into Part 2. They use their brains, wits, and even purses (which Lori designs) to find an escape from an impossible (and improbable) situation. The unexpected conflict ends with a bang, er, thud, but another mystery remains unresolved – where is Lori’s intern, Macy? Once again, JJ and Lori rely upon their own resourcefulness to overcome the villains and save the day.
Tawna Fenske continues the madcap adventure of the Schultz Sisters. This series is told from JJ’s perspective as she “repositions” from PR specialist in the DA’s office to a heavy machine operator in the county’s dump. She is juggling her attraction to two coworkers – hot actor turned department secretary Pete and suspicious yet intriguing Collin. Likewise, Lori is evaluating if her high school sweetheart (who broke her heart) is worth taking back (with his tail between his legs). Yet their love lives do not distract the Schultz Sisters from the task at hand – finding Macy and solving the designer purse piracy.
Fenske’s story has elements that reminded me of Janet Evanovich – over the top and laugh out loud. But Fenske adds her own touches with dead pan comedy, confident heroines, and quick witted conversation. Now that I have spent time with the Schultz Sisters (132 pages in Part 1, 132 pages in Part 2), I am hooked on their zeal for life. I look forward to the next mystery coming from the dump!
I received a reviewer’s copy of GETTING DUMPED. It gave me the opportunity to easily read the options to the interactive story. The options were clever … it was just fun to read!
GETTING DUMPED, parts 1 and 2, is a recommend read for those who enjoy zany antics.
JJ Schultz and her sister Lori are getting closer and closer in discovering who the person responsible for making the fake handbags is. Should they leave it to the police to unravel the rest or will they take matters in their own hands?
Part 2 starts off exactly where Part 1 of this series ended. Frequently, episodic books can be read as stand alone stories, but with Getting Dumped, the reader will need to read Part 1 first and then go into Part 2 (otherwise Part 2 will not make a lot of sense).
The humorous writing in Part 1 had me in absolute stitches, Part 2 however, focuses more on the mystery element of the storyline and does in my opinion not include as many comical scenes as Part 1 did. I still enjoyed reading Part 2 very much though. It just had a complete different mood to it.
The two sisters definitely have a lot of excitement in their lives (I don’t want to say to much here to not give any spoilers away). The twists and turns in the storyline nearly gave me whiplash… I would have never guessed the secrets that some of the characters were hiding.
Similar to Part 1, Part 2 of the series can also easily be read in one day. Both books are quick and easy reads that are entertaining but shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
Getting Dumped Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 left off and BOY was that a cliffhanger. I have to say I’m quite pleased with the plot arc of the book and here we solve not one but 2 mysteries. There’s something absurdly delightful about characters who fancy themselves detectives and throw themselves headfirst into danger and mayhem to solve a crime. It’s indulgent and escapist and totally unlike reality (where at least I’d run screaming in the other direction). It’s wonderful! The relationship between the sisters is particularly enjoyable and I find the constant food references hilarious if not hunger inducing. I was slightly miffed at the end that she hasn’t chosen at man yet, but that’s mostly for a reader’s benefit so we can choose who she pursues in the course of the future books in the series. And given the ending of part 2, we can be fairly certain there are more adventures in our future. I know I’ll be choosing a certain sexy Brit at all the active fiction choice points. AHEM. But in short, Getting Dumped (pt 1 and 2) is a perfect read for an easy sunny beach day.
Are you ready for more sister fun? In this second instalment, we get to find out who interrupted dinner. Was it Daniel, Colin, Pete or someone else ? It's time to find out.
If you enjoyed the part one you are going to love part two. Everything kicks into gear in this instalment. I can be honest, I didn't think I could love interactive fiction, but this series has proved me wrong.
The best part is that you get to choose what decisions JJ should make. Then you get the chance to go back and try the other option. It's super fun.
This time we find JJ still at the land fill with her pink hard hat, two hot co-workers and and decisions for you to make. Colin or Pete or Daniel ? Plus there is a mystery to be solved, a heart that might be broken and more fun and games than should be legal.
I could read this series forever, it's never fails to crack me up. I love the sisters and the crew at the land fill are awesome. Throw in Colin and Pete and you have the perfect weekend read. Bring on more instalments. I'm begging.
The fun story of Getting Dumped continues in Part 2 with just as much fun and charm at Part 1. I loved diving back into the world of JJ's sleuthing and seeing what would happen next.
I love a good mystery and Getting Dumped Part 2 really delivers that. One of my favorite things about this series is how lighthearted and fun it is. There is a bit of a cheese factor at times too which was great.
I also love all the relationships between characters and all the witty banter. I loved seeing more of my favorite characters from part 1 and look forward to seeing more of them in the future! I love Lori and Macy - they both are super fun.
Getting Dumped Part 2 by Tawna Fenske is a totally fun mystery. If you are looking for romance wrapped up in a good story, look no further! Getting Dumped Part 2 by Tawna Fenske is the book you are looking for.
Tawna is one of the funniest writers producing books right now! I loved how she wrapped up storylines in Part 2 (and how she solved my problem that I couldn't decide between Collin and Pete) and I'm crossing my fingers that there will be a Part 3 (she wraps up this book on a teasing cliffhanger).
