"I used to be braver in the old days. I traveled Europe with a backpack and a Eurailpass, flew hot air balloons and jumped out of airplanes. I could stay out all night, change my clothes and go to work in the morning with not even a tell-tale circle under my eyes. I cycled the South of France, the Central Coast of California, and went to dance camp in Crete. Club Med was my vacation destination more than once.
Now I look at the pictures with my wonderful son. I can still direct you to a lovely dinner spot in St. Remy de Provence but I'm probably not going to go. I still love the good things--a fabulous book, sweet kisses and hugs, bacon, candy, red wine, good coffee and God help me I would trade my car for delicious bread, but my adventure is in my poems. My poems are my biography."
