The lights have gone out, and the darkness is hungry.
There’s nowhere to run
London is in lockdown, trapped beneath an impregnable cover of darkness, filled with some real creepy horror stuff, straight out of a heart-pounding, piss-yourself nightmare. There’s no way out, no way in, the only hope is to fight back, to find a way to reach the sun before the world is swallowed whole. When help arrives in the form of otherworldly allies, the news they bring sticks a big ticking clock on the whole operation, because something is coming, something huge and it’s hungry.
Now the wolves, vamps and witches must work together to face a common enemy?
Amos Cassidy - a team of two. Amos is a 32 year old Diva and Cassidy a 40 year old mum of three. Aside from a passion for writing and a love of reading they also share an addiction to coffee, love anything Joss Whedon and are constantly playing tug of war over Jensen Ackles.
I have been looking forward to Crimson Darkness ever since reading Crimson Midnight. The second book in the series is packed full of action, adventure, and danger. After London was plunged into darkness, everybody left is fighting to save themselves and the world as they knew it. All of our favorite characters are back, and there are some new players who I am very interested in reading more about. Rose is struggling with some decisions she has had to make and some new information she has to deal with about herself.
Crimson Darkness was much darker and more sinister than the first book. You can see the definitive shift from the old world to the new one and the toll the stress of fighting every moment for life has taken on the characters. Tension is high and everyone knows that likely disaster is imminent.
Once again the storyline was unpredictable and exciting. I love being surprised every step of the way. And, oh my God do the authors know how to write a cliffhanger! I will not be able to get my hands on the next book to find out what happens soon enough!!
“We’re here,” Raven said. “Let’s go.” He scooped up his axe and makeshift shield in case of quills, and stepped out of the vehicle. Thistle and Ossian followed, machetes and shields in hand. They walked toward the towering concrete of Centre Point. There were some lights in the windows about halfway up, bright and flickering a little. The main doors were dark, probably barricaded. A loud crash filled the air. Raven stuck his arms out. “Stop.” Silence… Raven silver eyes darted to his left, towards Tottenham Court Road Tube Station. Masses of rubble filled the old station entrance. “That’s quite the commotion…” he said. “Sleekers, you think?” Thistle said. Raven shook his head. “I don’t think so.” “Maybe the thing from the Underground is…” Ossian hesitated a moment. “Maybe it’s surfacing.” “It’s…” Before Raven could finish, the rubble exploded outward. They hit the asphalt, rolling out of the way of falling debris. They got to their feet, weapons ready, waiting for the dust to clear. Things were moving behind the dust…figures… “Is that people?” Thistle said. Raven sniffed the air. A perfume, a familiar perfume of dying flowers and exquisite beauty, a scent of a non-glamoured… “Faye?” He stepped forward a little. Ossian and Thistle flanked him. “Raven?” Ossian said. “What do you mean?” Then he froze. Raven turned to him. “You sense it now?” “It can’t be her…” “It is,” Thistle said as the dust cleared. There she was, the beautiful red head who had manipulated and destroyed and taken. Faye! And with her other fey looking ready for battle. A tall man with black hair stood beside her his dark eyes searching the shadows around them. Some of the fey were dragging a horse and a pretty huge chariot from the rubble, the horse seemed incredibly well disciplined. Was there someone in that chariot? A familiar scent…but not quite… Faye stopped and smiled, placing a hand on her hip. She looked dishevelled despite her attempt at composure. “Well,” she said, “look who it is; the welcome party. I guess we have you guys to thank for that little distraction back there.” Raven took another step forward, snarling. The beast within wanted out, wanted the taste of fey blood. “Why are you here?” “Don’t play dumb, wolfy boy. You know why we’re here.” “Rose,” Thistle said. “Ah, the vampire has a brain.” Raven noticed Faye’s emerald gaze fall on Ossian who still hadn’t moved, but he didn’t give her an opportunity to open her mouth. “You must be pretty high on your own sense of power to cross back over here.” Faye narrowed her eyes. “Well, we weren’t really expecting a pre-emptive strike on your part. We’ve lost some great warriors.” “Strike?” Raven asked. “Again, don’t play dumb.” Thistle stepped in. “I take it you didn’t know.” “Didn’t know what?” “That London isn’t what it used to be.” “What the fuck are you talking about, blood hound?” “Since your power was set free,” Raven said, “London has fallen into eternal darkness. Things have gone, well, to shit. And there are things that live in the dark that don’t like the light; hence these glowing suits.” Faye laughed. “Please, don’t make excuses for your crappy fashion sense.” Raven crossed his arms across his chest and arched his brow. Faye looked suddenly unsure. “You expect me to believe that crap?” she asked, but her voice wavered. “Faye,” Lugh said, stepping off the chariot. “Look around you.” It was then as Faye looked around at the darkness, the quiet ruined street that something leapt from the shadows and tore a knight open with furious speed, before dragging the corpse away into the thickest shadows. “SHIT!” Faye cracked her whip in a reflexive action, eyes scanning the dark. Raven could hear them moving around in the inky blackness that surrounded them; a pack of Sleekers, moving towards their potential meals. He readied his axe.
Okay, so after the events of the first book, Crimson Midnight, this book starts off with us wondering how Rose will get out of her current predicament. She is herself, but not herself. She is stuck inside her own mind, her body merely a capsule at this moment. But a deal with an unknown entity allows her to come back, along with a friend or two. Tehe. Well, friend is a very general term. We should probably say that they are her protectors, which, in the current state of the city, pretty much screams friendship to me. So Rose has been changed by the events of the first book. She has great power inside of her just waiting to be released at her very call. But, as the old proverb states, with great power comes great responsibility. She is going to have to make some very difficult decisions regarding herself and her friends, and not everyone is going to be happy with the choices she makes.
Along with Rose, Roman is also changed. Because his wolf is now gone, he somewhat feels lost and possibly unworthy of even being around the people he has known forever. He is moody and a bit 'woe is me', and somewhat annoying in this. UGH!! He keeps mentioning that he is not good for Rose and no matter how good they are together, or at least how good they were together in the first book, everything has changed. Okay, news flash! Dude, suck it up! Your wolf may be gone, but that doesn't mean you just give up the fight! Just because you feel weak or helpless doesn't mean you should let that consume you!! I mean, seriously! Rose's life is falling around her throughout this entire book and she stands strong and tries to protect those she loves!!! Seriously!!
Sorry about that.
On a lighter note, this book is a wonderful sequel to the first, and I love how the characters are getting even more complicated. It just makes me feel alive when I can rant and rave about characters. Tehe.
Read This! You will definitely not be disappointed.
Had to wait a while for the release which was gutting as I was hooked after Crimson Midnight but waiting does make the heart grow fonder which showed when I read this book. Finished it in 2 days as I was hooked with the dizzying storyline and dynamic characters.
Rose has woken to a new London after a month of blissful dreams and has quickly got to get to grips with what she is and what's happened. When the power was released it split a rift in reality and evil creatures spewed forth into London slaughtering the humans and blocking out the sky. The City was quickly evacuated, quarantined and the Supernatural community was outed.
The dynamic of Raven's pack has changed and they've had to front an offensive against the enemy with all of the supernatural communities help.
Faye hasn't forgotten about Rose and with Faerys power failing she along with her consort Lugh mount a crusade to return their new human treasure to the courts.
New characters, plots, species and romances are introduced in this amazing second installment that had me on the edge of my seat. Rose and Roman were on course to possibly be together but that's thrown off course completely here with not only the introduction of the Guardian Rune but a massive change in Roman that I won't spoil.
The story was quick paced with different characters point of views and many storylines going on at once. Love that it's set in Britain and with the authors being British they stay true to the characters and have traditional food like Shepherds Pie and wear knickers!
Does contain sexually explicit content so for the more mature audiences.
Finished on a massive cliffhanger and the small excerpt i've read of book 3 has me chewing at the bit. Great new Series that i'd recommend to all Paranormal book lovers
Intense… that’s pretty much the first word that comes to mind after reading Crimson Darkness. That is pretty much the way things go from the opening scene through the final chapter with little or no down time.
You can pretty much guess from the synopsis how things are going for the characters since we left them at the end of Crimson Midnight. That sets the tone for the entire book. Given the fact that the entire world has changed, it isn’t a shock that the status of a lot of the characters changed as well. Personal worlds are turned upside down and lives, friendships, relationships hang in the balance and allies shift.
Just a fair warning, this series keeps you on your toes. I realized quickly that these are not books you can just skim through. You need to pay attention because not only is there a lot going on, there are a LOT of players involved. They’re all important though and they each add another layer to the action and the plot.
I don’t want to give anything away, so I’m just going to let you know that this is a series that I’m really glad I picked up and I can’t wait to continue. The world building is great and the characters are well developed and there are many layers to several of them. There are some that I’ve loved from the beginning, some that had my heart breaking for them and some I’ve hated from the start. I don’t see either of those opinions shifting, but there are a couple that could go either way and if you’ve read the books I probably don’t have to explain which characters I’m referring to. ;)
Next up in the Crimson series is Crimson Dawn and I can promise you that there won’t be as much of a time lapse between books. Too much happened in Crimson Darkness for me to wait too long. Besides, Crimson Chaos is due to be released sometime this year and I want to be ready.
Crimson Darkness pretty much picks up where Crimson Midnight left off. London is being devoured after the faeries failure to restore power to their world caused a rip in the fabric of reality, causing other dimensions to spill over in the human and supernatural world. People are dying horrible deaths and the government that was keeping London's supernatural community hidden, left them to clean up their mess and evacuated the humans. The moon disappeared and the inky black smog covering London is littered with dangerous creatures making it difficult for the Werewolves, Vampires, Witches, and Warlocks to restore London to it's original glory.
Rose is stuck in an awake coma after the faerie power enters her body and takes over her mind; while in this coma Rose finds out who or what she is and has to make a difficult deal with the power to release her so she can help her supernatural friends close the breach. Rose had to learn how to use her power so she could fix things and work with some new additions to the team. Things got very intense and the story took off, with a lot of action and loss. During all the fighting the lives of the Werewolves, Vampires and Rose continue to heat up with a lot of drama and steamy moments.
This story keeps getting better and keeps me captivated, I love the characters and is so engrossed in their (love) lives. Can't wait for the continuation of their story to see where their lives go and whether their relationships progresses or not.
WOW I didn't think that you could top the first book but you did that and more!
The storyline sometimes seems pretty out there but you are hooked in and just can't wait to see it all unfold. Love all the characters and their interactions and you never know quite what is going to happen next. I love that in a book as I hate knowing where its going half way through.
Twists and turns and you just feel the emotions of the characters and sometimes you're wishing you could tell them what to do LOL but sadly it seems that Rose and Thistle just don't seem to listen.
Superb writing as always and I will be waiting very impatiently for the next in the series.
Even if this isn't your usual genre please give this series a try as you will be very surprised.
Congratulations to the writers - you have a winner for sure!
I was given a copy for beta reading but will tell you I would have very happily bought this one as I was just dying to get my hands on book two. Bring on book three..soon..Please!

SUMMARY (50 words or less) I can’t believe I forgot to put my review up. How could I do such a thing. This adult paranormal romance series has it all. If you haven’t read, I highly recommend. The writing, the storyline, the man candy, the everything. I absolutely can’t wait for the next book.

After an exasperated wait of wanting more from reading book one,it yet again kept me wanting more. A great read and just as great as book one. I'm now left wanting book 3 now please!!! Oh yes this is a must read and highly recommended.
Okay, wow! Crimson Darkness definitely starts off with a few stunning stories. At first, I wasn’t quite sure what was going on, and – oh my god, Faye and her toy, um yeah, that was shocking!
After the preface, we meet again with the old gang, minus Rose, who’s being kept prisoner in a glass box, and a few other key members of the group. At first, I was a little confused and felt like I had to play catch up – which may be just what Amos Cassidy was intending. Afterall, London was in a state of chaos and her inhabitants were being thwarted and confused and eaten by the demonic arrivals following the end of Crimson Midnight!
I enjoyed the interaction between Rose, Gaia, and “the power” that resided within her. Bits and pieces of information were granted which kept me wanting to read on to find out the answers to the many questions Rose had. Speaking of characters who raise questions – hello Rune and Lazarus! Rune quickly replaced Roman as the yummy stud of the story (seriously, don’t get me started on Roman and how many times I wanted to reach into the book and strangle him . . . and then at the end, well, no, I won’t say. You’ll just have to read to find out for yourself). The connection between Rune and Rose is intense and their sexual interludes are riveting – I’m curious to know the cause of the crazy-attached feelings they have for each other because there’s got to be more to it than it just being a side effect of the feedings . . . there’s just gotta be! And they’re not the only ones stuck in an emotional tangle – yep I’m looking at you Thistle and Gabriel! And I suppose I should include Faye’s demented dalliance with Harold (poor Harold) – let’s just say I hope Faye gets her come-uppins at some point!
Amos Cassidy does a good job of keeping the story flowing and the pages turning. The evil creatures actually make a friendship with the fey an attractive option – but I still hope the fey’s ultimate plans are thwarted in the final book of the series! Again, Amos Cassidy ends the story with a huge cliffhanger – so be forewarned! All in all, it was an enjoyable, entertaining read and I’m looking forward to the conclusion in book 3 – Crimson Dawn!
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
Appropriate for ages 17 & up.
***I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.***
This second book by authors Amos Cassidy is darker than the first. It is filled with action, suspense, loss, love, family and enemies. The city of London is thrown into darkness, friends and enemies will come together fight the darkness. Characters are once again well written complete with their flaws and doubt, putting their best forward to fight and save the city. Some have alternative motives and some make deals, but all are effected by decisions made by few. Also in this book greater powers come to play. What will that mean to the out come of the story is any ones guess? Not all as it seems, there are many twists and turns and another cliff hanger ending. Leaving you thinking….what, no way what? And "How many are to be torn apart? Will they ever find one another? Recommending this series to friends.
This is what happens when you throw every plot idea into the mix and when in doubt about how to make it work distract your readers with kinky sex. Faye and Lugh are caricatures with no depth. The supporting cast are so generic I couldn't remember who half of them were and the abundance of R names didn't help - Raven, Richard, Roman, Rune etc. The behaviour of women, especially towards each other, is appalling. Why is Kelly immediately labelled a skank?
Sigh. I might finish the trilogy because I have come this far, but I can't recommend
The first book left you wondering, wtf? This one picked up right there with the wtf. About half way through you feel like the authors have jumped the shark. Unfortunately for me, I really liked Thistle and made the mistake of purchasing the series so I will continue to read these. However, I can't say I recommend them. :(
