Five years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Hermione Granger is running out of time to restore her parents' memories. Hoping a Master's in Medical Anthropology at Oxford will help her unlock exactly how memories can be recreated, she ends up bumping into the last person she expects to see at a muggle university.

After finally completing his house arrest, Draco Malfoy wants to understand how he was conditioned to believe in Pure Blood ideals. A Master's in Social Anthropology seems the best way to free himself from his past. Until he runs into the very person who haunts him.

this slow-burned very slow for slow-burns but because i was so into the academia oxford shenanigans, it didn't bother me much. with the build up, i thought id lose my mind when they did eventually get together but it was a little anticlimactic and i also didn't like how quickly things wrapped up in the end regarding the whole experiment thing. and I HATE MISCOMMUNICATION TROPE SO MUCH 😓 it was AWFUL that hermione didn't even give draco a chance to explain himself so for a bunch of geniuses, these two really were dumb at getting their feelings across and known 💔. but, the oxford bits, even the studying to exhaustion parts, had me yearning™ for the life i could've lived 😣 had i been able to go to uni abroad and the little treats and food they had HAD ME CRAVING EVERYTHING TOO 😞. might've been the writing, might've not since im always down for a sweet treat.

Cute. Slow burn started getting a bit heavy handed for no other reason than to say it's SLOOOOOOW burning. Chapters began repeating themselves and skimming was prevalent.

annnotations:
-Someone implying that she was not on top of her inbox with militaristic efficiency was a step too far.

-Hermione had grinned, grateful for Ginny's mothering even as it annoyed her.

-The telephone was easy(ish) to get the hang of(from what Draco had gleaned, social media caused some kind of disease that made you hate yourself and he would avoid it)

-and the only other booth that he was even slightly intrigued by was the Tolkien Society, before he saw the people clustering around it. Draco may have been reformed, but he was still a snob.

-Granger was a symbol of Draco's guilt. And he was tired of feeling guilty.

-She decided magical self-defence, duelling, being on the run and being tortured in front of said former school bully probably didn't count as regular exercise anyway.

-'No, shut up Granger,' he said. 'Wait, no, don't shut up -I mean be quiet but not in a rude way, shut up so I can apologise to you.

-He would send her a book (she likes books) with an apology (she liked apologies), and then everything would go back to normal.

-Had he been younger and rejected, he would have said something awful and started a years long feud (hello, Potter refusing a handshake in first year).

-'If you're going to insist on moping and crying you might as well be full and unhappy.'

-'Oh bloody hell,' she sighed, taking his arm. Her hand was small, and warm. 'Don't flex your stupid muscles, Jesus Christ,' she muttered, rummaging around in her little bag.
'I'm not flexing,' Draco lied.

-let's gooooooo

-'Sorry,' he said, startling her out of a bite. 'I know you hate this so I'll only say it once - but, you are brilliant. No-' he held up a hand, stopping her from objecting. 'You really are. Obviously I knew that, but this is the first time I've been exposed so violently to it, so you have to let me be impressed.'

-He knew that lots of people cared about Hermione. He was just unconvinced that they were very good at actually looking after her.

-But he couldn't say sorry for wanting her so badly it made him sick, without admitting to wanting her in the first place. Which was difficult, because he was trying very hard to pretend that he didn't.
She seemed just as keen to move on, though they were both awkward with each other. Which was made all the more awkward because they were both furiously trying to pretend that everything was normal.

-Was he not going to put on a shirt? Was he really just going to stand on the other side of the kitchen, half naked? This was obscene. Her traitorous eyes flicked down his body once more. Were that many muscles necessary for daily life? What was the point?

-But Hermione was standing there, wand pointed towards him, watching him carefully. He could not - he could not get aroused.

-'See you tonight,' she shrugged, walking out the room at a normal pace, as though she was not flustered at all, as though she was indifferent to the almost predatory look in his eyes, that promised things she really, really wanted to find out. Hermione was very close to wanting to feel like the prey, and this would not do at all.

-He would also rather cut out his eyes than mess up the project. But he was selfish, and wanted to spend time with her.

-'I think,' his mouth continued its detailed exploration of her neck, 'that you need to let someone else make the decisions sometimes.'

-she did not think she was in danger of losing herself. She thought she was in danger of being herself. That was altogether more terrifying.
She did not want to hide herself. She did not want to be a better person. When she was around Draco, Hermione wanted to be herself and all the ugly, scared, selfish things that that entailed. And Draco, completely unwittingly, had the power to see all of it and reject her anyway.

I swear I gave it a good try, seeing as it was recommended on all sorts of forums. But this story really moves at a glacial pace and Dramione’s relationship seems to move 2 steps forward, 1 step backwards. They blow hot, then don’t communicate with each other, make wrong assumptions, then blow cold, stay away for a lengthy time sulking, and then slowly patch up. And rinse and repeat. Honestly, I lost interest at around the 40% mark and then plodded along for a bit (sunk cost fallacy and all) before finally giving up at 76%. And at this point there was still no relationship to speak of. No smut. And barely one kiss.
Seriously glacial pace with minimal chemistry.

Giving it 2.5 stars and rounding up to 3 stars since Goodreads doesn’t do half stars.

I'm on a bit of "Oxford fatigue" so I could be biased -- this fic is a nice safebet that is a slow burn. The characterisation in Hermione's insecurity was not as believable as I'd like -- the character study is all there and make sense in canon context, but the way she exploded twice for the exact same reasons is not a favourite trope of mine. The miscommunication was not quite there.

The Draco here is reformed but the process seemed a bit underdeveloped.

It is sweet and cute tho, there's times I laughed out loud and enjoyed it.

Just when you think you’ve read all of the best in class dramione, you stumble across Creep. It’s adorably hilarious, reminiscent of DATMOOBIL, BLOODY, SLUTTY, & PATHETIC, Detraquee. Story is paced perfectly, I couldn’t put it down and upon completion of this review will be enrolling at Oxford to find a tall, fit, pale posh rich man- no- wizard to fall madly in love with.

-cute & fluffy
-miscommunication trope (I’m not a fan)
-ending seemed premature. I wish we had gotten to see them living out there life together more
-not good fanfic since it didn’t feel like Hermione & Draco at all, but was a good story itself.

Really liked the plot about hermione's project and how it was a slow burn, it was light and giggly but the ending was really underwhelming and felt overly rushed i would've liked to see more of the process on the restoration of her parents memories and how it was after they remembered her.

Oh my GOD. This author deserves all the love. She captures the characters personalities perfectly, the banter is incredible, and the angst is perfect. I love s good slowburn and couldn't put this down

One of the best lighthearted fics I've read. The slow burn is practically evil but sooo worth it. The writing is stellar, the setting is cozy and beautiful and the humour and banter is top notch. A lovely post-war story.

THE YEARNING!!!!!!! Now I’m not a miscommunication trope fan at all usually.. but THIS *bites fist* Jesus. The slow burn was delicious, the yearning from both sides, the absolute idiocy from both of them was top tier

Somehow this both drags at the end while simultaneously wrapping up way too quickly? Started off cute but was just waaaay too long considering nothing happens for too much of it.
