Tillukesel Madlil ei tule kuidagi und. Voodiservale ilmub vana hea Une-Mati, kes on kohe valmis uneliiva tüdruku silma raputama. Madli aga palub Une-Matil sedapuhku hoopis üks korralik unejutt jutustada. Lõpuks, lapse pisarsilmsest palvest liigutatuna, Une-Mati soostubki.
Occupation: freelance writer Date and place of birth: 27 March 1960 in Tartu Heiki Vilep represents the Estonian new children’s literature which during the last ten years has gone through numerous significant changes and developments. These developments include the progress of information technology and visual media which tends to dominate over traditional literature.
Madli palub temalt uneliiva asemel hoopis unejuttu. Une-Mati oskab aga ainult udujutte rääkida. Lood on eriti humoorikad.
True story, I swear to God! :D
A wonderfully quirky book! I read it with my niece and she was hooked from the first page. She especially loved when Neil got caught in the car tire, she kept giggling at that part. The dynamic between the screws, washers, and nuts felt like a tiny world inside a toolbox. Very cute characters, simple language, and a unique storyline. Highly recommend
As part of our club’s children’s literature review cycle, we picked up Sandman’s Stories and it was a pleasant surprise. The author has a real talent for turning simple settings, like a cellar shelf or a dusty toolbox, into magical places. Nail Neil’s dream of being hit with a hammer might sound silly at first, but the story uses it to show patience and resilience. A fun, imaginative experience.
Heiki Vilep writes with such playfulness! Nail Neil’s misadventures are the kind of stories children remember for a long time. My favorite part was how each object had its own personality—Nuts Nina, Nana and Nelly were adorable. The story has a sweet rhythm and teaches determination in a funny way. Excellent for bedtime reading
Absolutely delightful. The humor, the little world of screws and bolts, the unexpected adventures, it all feels like something that would make a child laugh and an adult smile. The author creates miniature worlds in such a clever way. Neil is a memorable character, and his dream of being hit with a hammer… well, only in a kids’ book can that be adorable.
