Rate this book
This is a young adult paranormal romance.

One night, nearly two years ago, Keely Kiem was attacked. With her throat slit, she was left to rot on the cold, damp floor of a vacant warehouse. Keely survived, but not without consequences. Her mother believed the move to Hunt, Ohio would offer them protection and a fresh start. Some problems, however, cannot be outrun.
Keely thought she was the victim of a serial killer, but the truth she uncovers is much more terrifying. She belongs to another world she never knew existed. One with Watchers, Guardians, and Demons—and that is just her family.
The man targeting young girls and savagely murdering them is Keely’s own brother. Her friends are not who they pretend to be. Even Keely’s parents have been keeping crucial information from her. Her dad is not her dad, her mom has a secret life, and Keely’s true father is the King of Demons.
Now Keely has the protection of Nick Wallace, her heartbreakingly handsome Guardian, and his unorthodox team of defenders. Though she may have survived the first assault, is Keely strong enough to face what is coming next? Can she make the necessary decision between life and love?

I am in a love/hate relationship with this book. I love the story it was different from other books I have read and really grabs your attention. It keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. The hate part starts with the short choppy sentences, then I don't understand Keely's relationship with her mom, next I don't understand her love... whatever it is between the guys. I also was unhappy with the ending. If there was a way to know there was going to be another book that would be great but as it stands the book just stops and there isn't even a website to find out if there is another book to complete this one.
I wanted to edit my review because the author did message me and let me know that there is another book out Dark Craving in 2013... HELL YEAH! Anyway, can't wait to see what happens next! Oh and gotta add, I love Cheryl McIntyre for messaging me, there are not many authors who do that and its great an author takes the time to do that.

Okay. I need to first say that I am biased because the author is my sister and I helped her edit this book. It is her first published book! And man, this book has it all! It's a supernatural thriller/ love story with lots of action that keeps the book constantly progressing until the end. READ THIS BOOK!!!

I got this as a freebie a while back and I had put off reading it because it was so long. I generally do better with shorter ebooks, but I've been wanting to get through my Kindle library for a while so why not start with the oldest thing I hadn't read?

The story started out strong, as Keely, the victim of an attack a year ago, notices a new boy Nick and proceeds to be attacked by demons. Then she discovers that not only has Nick been assigned to protect her after the attack a year ago (and stayed under her radar the whole time), but all her other friends are also assigned protectors, including Byron. Keely's parents have been taken by the demons as well, and she learns that she's the child of a demon and an angel and so fulfills some prophecies, etc., oh, and also she's betrothed to her demon brother who she has a psychic bond with. That's pretty confusing, because since he can feel her feelings and she can feel his, they can't help but fall in love, but Keely's already in love with Nick!

Toward the end I couldn't really keep track of any new characters and I never felt like the world was truly developed. Keely's inability to not fall in love with every guy around her (yeah, she also decides she likes Byron too) got annoying after a while, and I never felt like this was resolved beyond being physically unable to be with two of the characters, so she's left with the third. This book took me way too long to read.

True story.
I LOVED this book!
Loved the twists and turns and trying to work out who's the good guy and who's the bad.
I was gutted at the end though, absolutely devo'd (a special word of mine means devastated) I so wanted her to get her ending with Asmoday. *sobs*
However I have just discovered there is a second book to be released!! *double fist air pump I'm joy*
Alas there is as of yet no release date or blurb but for the sake of my sanity lets hope it is soon!!!! *crossing all available appendages and praying to every God I can think of*

TEAM ASMODAY ALL THE WAY!!!

This book is a must read! I couldn't put it down! The storyline is amazing and you will fall in love with the characters. I can't beleive that this is a first time novel by Cheryl McIntyre. Her writing style is captivating and I love the world she creates. I can't wait to see more from her. For anyone who loves super-natural / fantacy with a good romance, you will love this book! Be prepared to be completely sucked in!!! Here's hoping for a sequel! (And more Asmoday!!!!)

I really enjoyed it. I want the story to continue. It's a very interesting story with lots of action and unusual twists. There are really good characters; surprisingly my favorite is by far Asmoday. His growth and discovery of feelings and his willingness to sacrifice everything for his love...I want the story to continue and Asmoday to be with Keely.

Contains several spoilers

“Oh my God. You are a complete lunatic.” She jerks her backpack from Nick’s hand. “You both are.”

“And you are an ungrateful spoiled brat,” Nick says through his teeth.

I definitely loved the book. The plot is very twisted and complicated, but the story is quite easy to read. There is a lot to take in, from Guardians, Watchers, demons... but it all makes sense in the end. However, the book seems a bit too long, there were some parts that weren't necessary.

The main character, Keely acts pretty much as a spoiled brat in the first part of the book. Fortunately, her Guardian Nick is the opposite so it's not as irritating as it could be.

“Don’t you dare touch my stuff,” Keely simmers as she shoots off the couch. Puts her hands on her hips.
“Oh, shut up.” Nick walks past a wide mouthed Keely.

Keely finds out that Nick is supposed to guard her, her friend Bryon watch her and almost all her all friends are involved. She often overreacts, constantly talking about how they lied to her. They did, but they had a reason.

My favourite character is Nick and least favourite Bryon. The ending is so disappointing for me, since Nick swore to guard her and he loves her even though she wants to date Bryon. How can she be so blind?!

The only one who always took care of her, listened to her although she was whining all the time, soothed and protected her was Nick! Not Dustin, not Bryon.

The book was really interesting apart from that, since Keely had dreams which involved her demon family and together with her friends, she survived it and became a bit stronger. I doubt she could have survived without them, she seemed pretty fragile and confused all the time.

I liked the way the book was written, every chapter was short but mostly everything inside it mattered for the future events, except from some 'filler' chapters which I would delete.

It's quite an unique story with a great plot and interesting characters (except Bryon, who I can't stand). This is a quick and fun read for summer and definitely not a waste of time.

this book is terrible. the main character is a fucking idiot! she follows a serial killer to a quiet dark warehouse and gets killed.. then she follows the girl to a dark "safe" place.. hello!?! is this not the EXACT same situation you were in before! I was screaming at Keely because she made the STUPIDEST FUCKING CHOICES EVER!!! she ranks up with the most idiotic main characters EVER. she deserves to get slit in the throat because everything she does screams kill me now, im such an easy dumb target!! I was banging my head on a table throughout the book. I couldn't do it. I couldn't finish this book. thank goodness I stopped before I got to the love quadruple square! I would've sewed the Keely's mouth shut, kicked Adophis in the balls, bitch slapped every other character in the book, then tore this book up and burned it after shooting myself. DO NOT READ unless you like suicidal too stupid to live female protagonist.

4.5 Stars

I was really excited to read this book...and it did not disappoint. I thought Keely was a good mix of selfless heroine and damsel in distress. Nick and Bryan were great and I was absolutely in love with Asmoday. The only reason I would give it 4.5 instead of 5 full stars is because I wasn't sure how I felt about where everyone ended up in the end but I know that I desperately want to read more!

I really enjoyed this book. I know a book is good when it has been a week & I am still thinking about the characters & wanting to know more. I think I love Asmoday! I hope Keely continues to progress, so many times you see heroines who stay the same through a series & do not grow. This is a great new author & I look forward to reading more :)

A good book, well-written. Gripping, fast-paced, nail-biting thriller, though with somewhat complex relationships that got a bit too much at times. But all-in-all worth reading.

The first couple of pages were slightly off for me, however, post venturing further into the story I was able to connect the dots. It's an age old theme of good versus evil, but the lines drawn to separate them are all but fading. Loved the way Cheryl weaves this story where the bad guys come to the rescue or are ready to sacrifice themselves and you're not sure whether the good guy can really be trusted. The emotional and psychological turmoil faced by our protagonist further adds to the drama. The intense passion and emotion is overwhelming.

Well-built characters and surprising twists and turns make it quite a page-turner. The growth of characters is astounding, Asmoday by far was my favorite. I got really engrossed in the story and there were times when I was just frustrated at the way things were going and wanted to jump to the end hoping things would have turned out differently. You will need some patience, but believe me, it will keep you on the edge and make you beg for more. Looking forward to reading book 2.

I had received this book in exchange for a review.

Let me start by saying I was not expecting this book to be anything supernatural AT ALL. The very first chapter had me intertested since it was sooooo intense. You could feel Keely's fear and nervous and then he attacks! Oh man, I couldn't imagine starting over after that. I did not enjoy how the story went from Keely getting extra attention from Nick out of no where to a crazy chase/attack on Keely by a Demon. I mean I had to go back and re-read because I got so confused on how it transitioned. After the transition things started to get explained and I understood more. The story was really good and there were non stop crazy events happening around Keely. Just when you thought it was about to calm down someone else went missing or was attacked. Right now after reading the end I am frustrated with Keely. I don't fully understand her position between Nick, Bryon and Asmonday. I am excited to see where book 2 takes us as Keely embraces her Doyenne future.

Even though i found the basis for the story exciting, i found it long and drawn out and not enough depth to some of the more emotional scenes. For example, when her parents went missing, she was desperate to find them and then when reunited, her relationship with her mother was written as if they had a conflicting relationship, then when her mother was found again, once again Keely was desperate to find her and yet when she did there was nothing written to indicate their reunion or her desperation to know her mother was ok.
Also, i am not sure of the way the love square was written, it could have included the different reasons (with more indepth) Keely loved each boy.
As a paranormal story i thought it was a great story, and i will be following up to see if there are any sequels.
