Jennifer Bernard knows how to deliver sexy, romantic, emotional stories, and Sex and the Single Fireman, the third installment of the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel series is all that and more!
From the cover:

The toughest captain on the East Coast, single father Rick Roman has come thousands of miles to San Gabriel to put an end to the "Bachelor Firemen" media hype. But when a stunning woman he nearly hooked up with in Reno turns out to be a firefighter from his new station, Roman realizes it's going to be tough keeping the tabloids at bay.

But there's even more Sabina isn't telling him. Before dedicating her life to battling blazes, Sabina led a very different life, one that made her famous. The last thing she wants is to have her secret exposed. The papers, bloggers, and TV gossips will have a field day with that—especially when they sense the obvious sexual heat between Sabina and Chief Roman, who's torn between firing her...and falling in love with her!
One of the things I most love about this author is how well she tells a story. They’re easy to read, yet compelling, and pull you in right from the start. Her characters are people we come to care about because even though they’re amazing, they’re also human. They the kinds of people you live next door to, and they’re like the odd cousin that everyone wonders about. They’re the people you meet in the grocery story and the friends you wish you had… they’re people who draw you in and make you love them, every single time.

Sabina is the “Bachelor” fireman in this book and Chief Rick Roman is a man who’s trying to build a life for he and his son after losing his wife in the 9/11 attacks. That right there got my attention because we’ve all heard the tales of the real men and women who gave their all that day, and stories like this – stories of the ones left behind – never cease to touch me deeply. Whether it’s only mentioned briefly or the center of the story; whether it happened yesterday or eleven and a half years ago, it gets to me. Every single time.

Watching Sabina and Roman’s relationship grow from lust to love was heartwarming – and burn up the pages sexy. Start to finish, through the good and the bad, I couldn’t get enough of them and that thirteen year old Roman-in-training, Luke.

My thanks to Avon Books for providing me with a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

DEFINITELY the BEST book in the The Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel series! BRAVO Ms Bernard!! I MUST say your writing has gotten MUCH, MUCH better. A tighter story line, two leads that i felt emotionally invested in and WHOA, Rick Roman aka Rock... *SWOON*! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! Well done!! I will write my proper review closer to the release date, but suffice to say, EVERYONE that read your first 2 books in this series and enjoyed those should MOST DEFINETELY read this one, because they will LOVE IT!!!!

Thank you to Edelweiss and Avon for providing me with an ARC copy to review.

I think one thing that really drew me into this story was that it’s not just about the main couple. We have layers of plots all entwined together beautifully. We get to follow along with Sabina and Roman as they try to find new happiness. We also get to watch Roman and his son bond and work through a lot of issues. Furthermore, there is the complicated scenario with Sabina’s famous mother who shows up after 13 years and causes all kinds of drama. I know it sounds like a lot for one book, but trust me it is just the right mix of intrigue and happiness to keep the pages turning quickly.
One thing that Ms. Bernard does extremely well is research her scenes. Every time you read about a fire these characters are fighting, the image is clear and vivid in your mind. Her attention to detail is amazing.
If you’re in the mood for a sweet sexy story that pulls at your emotions and is filled with a lot of laughs, you won’t want to miss out on this one.

Summary
Rick Roman, is a single father and is well known for being the toughest captain on the East Coast. When he gets an offer to come to California for a transfer where they need his expertise, Rick is more than willing. He knows that this change will be good not only for himself but for his son as well. Rick's job is to change how the people of San Gabriel view the fire station and the firefighters that work there. His job is to get rid of the title "Bachelor Firemen", in Rick's mind its not professional and is distracting from what they need to be doing...putting out fires. On his drive to San Gabriel, he runs into a woman in Vegas and despite the fireworks between them she runs like a scalded cat. But he puts  the incident out of his mind, he has a job to do and the last thing he needs is to be distracted. But he is shocked to discover that same woman he ran into in Vegas is a firefighter under him now. Will wonder never cease and the chemistry between them is explosive and she is untouchable. But when certain truths are revealed about Sabina's past, Sabina and Rick connect when they least expect to and love follows but will they find a way to be together despite how much it is forbidden?
The Hero
Rick Roman, has served as a firefighter back east for the longest time. He lost his wife during the 911 attack in the towers, and she died instantly and he has never been able to forgive himself. Rick has had to raise his son with the help of his parents. Rick has learned to close himself off emotionally, he couldn't afford to risk getting hurt again. Rick is from an Italian family, an excellent cook and has worked hard to be a reliable father and setting the high standard for fire stations and doesn't soften his approach. Rick is quite the hoot in this book, and I fell for his character quite instantly. I loved how firm he is and doesn't back down from what he believes in. He is the type of hero you would want as a husband...reliable, hard working, sexy and takes care of his body and has a commanding presence. He loves to cook, is a loving father and quite loyal. In this book, we see his character really shine and he adds that balance that is needed.
The Heroine
Sabina is hiding out from the world. Sabina grew up the daughter of an actress and joined her mother up until she was seventeen in the acting business and was quite talented at it. Being beautiful and graceful she made a good name for herself and could have had an explosive career. But then she had an inspiration and decided that acting just wasn't for her. She wanted to make a difference, and she and her mother argued and fought and Sabina left. Her mother refusing to talk to her for years. Now she has a different identity, she is talented at hiding who she really is and went through the training of becoming a firefighter. She loves what she does and has worked hard to become one of the team and be accepted by the other in San Gabriel. Sabina is fiery and passionate, she wants to make a difference and help others and I really admired how she was willing to change her life around to do something she loved and believed in. She is protective and quite good at what she does. I liked Sabina quite a bit because of her determination and resilience.
Plot and Story Line
Sex and the Single Fireman is a sensational read and I just got my jolly's off reading this one. So much humor and romance and fun times I just couldn't put this one down. I was hooked from the beginning, and with each book the series just gets better and better. This is the third book and what a ride it was. There were so many little things that combined together made for a fantastic read. I first want to mention the team of firefighters or known as the 'bachelors of San Gabriel'. They are quite unique and they have this close bond and commadarie that I just couldn't get enough of. What became the most admirable about this was seeing the friendship between everyone. The romance between Rick and Sabina is quite explosive especially at the beginning.
"We didn't know if there were any sparks between us. So we tried a kiss to find out if we had chemistry."

"And?"

"And there wasn't. Not like..."

"Like what?" he asked in a low growl, demanding she finish her sentence.

"Like...um...like there ought to be." She dropped her gaze, so he knew she'd censored herself.

"That's not what you were going to say."

"You don't know what I was going to say."

"Yes, I do." He stepped close to her and took her head in his hands, tilting it until her eyes caught dancing sparkles from the streetlights. "You meant, there wasn't any chemistry like This."

And he claimed her mouth like a lion claiming his prey.

But then it turns into a form of "forbidden" romance. At first Rick really lights a fire beneath the firefighters and really works them hard. So Sabina likes him but doesn't want to. But through a set of circumstances they end up falling in love with each other. Its very subtle, this is no instant love connection. Their love story takes some time and they build a relationship that isn't an easy road. They go through some rough patches of learning to trust and relying on each other.
There was no way in living hell I was going to watch another fucking pile of concrete take the woman I love

But boy do they make a fabulous team. Then we have the son, he was so fun and I loved how easy going and talkative he is at times. He is so close to his father too and you see that Father and Son bond real close here which was just another highlight to the story. This story really packed a punch, and had everything I need for a sexy firefighter romance. Passion...excitement and laughter!!
The Cover
Such a sensual cover...I really love the pose with the "half naked" look here. I like how flirty but sexy it as at the same time. And the yellow and red is so fiery hot!! LOVE it!!
Overall View

Very good book. Rick is a former New York fireman who lost his firefighter wife on 9/11 and is raising his teenage son by himself. He has been hired by the San Gabriel fire department as training officer to get Station 1 back into shape and stop the media nonsense about the Bachelor Firemen curse. He nearly hooks up with a woman in Reno and is stunned to discover on his arrival that she is one of his firefighters. I liked Rick a lot. He is pretty uptight at the beginning with a lot he has to cope with. He's moved from New York to California, so he and his son are dealing with some culture shock. He has to try to stop the fire station's Bachelor Firemen reputation from getting worse. And he has to fight his inappropriate attraction to Sabina. I liked the way that he puts his son's wishes to play baseball ahead of staying in New York where he is comfortable. He has a great relationship with Luke. He comes across as unreasonable at first to the firefighters at the station, as they are unused to his kind of intensity. When the media storm around Sabina breaks out, he wins their approval when he supports her rather than firing her. His biggest challenge is his attraction to Sabina. He wants her a lot but he has two major problems. First, he's her boss, which makes any relationship between them impossible. Second, she is a firefighter and he's already lost one woman he loved in the line of duty. As much as he tries, he is fighting a losing battle. I really liked the way that he respects her abilities as a firefighter and stands up to his boss when her past creates more media problems. I loved watching him get to know her better and try to cope with his growing feelings. He is the strong silent type who doesn't talk about his emotions and this causes so communication problems between him and his son as well as with Sabina. He has to learn to express his feelings and this creates a few funny moments as well. There are some really funny scenes with him starting with his encounter with Sabina in Reno. He also has some incredibly emotional moments such as his rescue of Sabina during a fire and their search for Luke and Carly. Rick has an unusual stress fighting hobby that plays several parts in the book and ultimately aids in the resolution of their romance.

Sabina is an independent feisty woman who has worked hard to get where she is. I really enjoyed hearing her talk about the challenges she faced as a woman in a male dominated profession. She is a former child star who walked away from her fame and her famous mother. She has told no one about her past and has even dyed her hair to distance herself further from her old self. She thinks about a one night stand with the sexy guy she met in Reno, but chickens out at the last minute. She is horrified to discover that he is her new boss and does her best to avoid him. They agree to try to forget what happened but circumstances keep throwing them together. When her mother and her old agent show up and try to get her back into acting, they leak her past in an attempt to force her to cooperate. But Sabina is nothing if not determined and digs in her heels. I love her friendships with her fellow firefighters and the way they support her even as they tease her. Most of all I really enjoyed watching her relationship with Rick grow from adversaries to lovers and more. She had to learn to accept her past and how it contributed to the person she is now without letting it define her. I also liked the way that with maturity she is able to mend her relationship with her mother - who is a piece of work herself.

One of the best things about this series (Bachelor Firemen earlier books) is the way all the characters are portrayed as real people. No one is larger than life or perfect. Everyone has their own issues to overcome, but they are always there to support and help their friends. I loved the appearances by Ryan and Brody as they weighed in on events. All the firefighters were great, but I really enjoyed the substory with Vader and his issues with his girlfriend. I'm looking forward to his book.

Last three books of Jennifer Bernard’s have been about the sexy firemen of San Gabriel but this one is all about San Gabriel’s first fire woman, Sabina Jones. Everybody in the fire station loves her but none more than Rick Roman, captain of the house. Sabina knows that a man like Rick can be dangerous especially since she’s been in lust for him since leaving him well horny in Reno. Sabina never thought she would see him or expected her being the new captain replacing Captain Brody. Seeing him again and seeing that the lust for her is still there makes her uneasy. For years she has shielded her heart but something about this brooding, sexy Italian fire captain has her libido going up. Just when she thinks she has a handle on things her real identity is revealed. With her famous mother back in town and wreaking havoc in her life she is confused about the feelings Rick has towards her. Sex has never been on her mind but lately Rick is making her see what has been missing from her life.

He’s a bad ass, strict and also the new captain for San Gabriel’s famous fire station, Rick Roman. Leaving New York with his son, Nick was supposed to be a new beginning since losing his wife to 9/11. He expected complains, wining from the men but never thought he would meet the woman that left him hanging in Reno over the holidays. Since her disappearance he has been lust but knowing that she works for him just starts his over protectiveness towards her. Rick knows saving lives is her main goal but knowing that she is in danger each time gets his heart up. He’s lost one woman and is determined to make her see he cares a lot for her. Just when he thinks he’s got a handle on things he does one stupid thing and now he has no idea how to make things right. Can he make her see that he can be more of a lover to her and a friend if she just opens up to him?

One word for Jennifer Bernard’s latest San Gabriel fireman story is WOW. This is another great story in a series that has found a special place in this reviewer’s heart. Each fireman is special in a way that makes them memorable. Rick Roman is definitely a guy that will melt your heart for what he has gone through. Sabina now seems like a tough girl on the outside but inside she is a little girl wanting her mother’s love above everything else. In the book see is tough and brave yet it takes a man like Rick to make her see what has been missing in her life, love. Jennifer Bernard is truly a talented author to bring this story to life and still enchanting authors with these firemen that will leave a mark of their own in a special way. Sabina and Rick are definitely two characters that make this book shine and highly recommended. Loved it.

Rick (Rock) Roman, New York City Fire Chief, a single father of a son, Luke, is moving to San Gabriel, California to start a new job with the San Gabriel Fire Department at Station #1. He is the Interim Chief and hired as the Chief Training Officer to whip the all-single fire crew into shape. The crew calls him Chief Hard-ass mainly because of his brisk manner of speaking, and his huge persona. He stands well over six-feet, and his hulking body is all muscle and no flab. Black hair, blacker than brown eyes, and strong sensuous lips, with a body covered with thick black hair, he looks more like a cave man than a firefighter.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and Firefighter Sabina Jones, a former child actor now incognito, always spends Thanksgiving alone in Reno. Driving along with her windows rolled down, and her music blasting louder than normal, she barely hears the honk of a horn. She looks at the vehicle next to her, and sees the most gorgeous, sexy man on his cell phone motioning for her to turn her music down. Ignoring him, she turns the music even louder which causes him to scream into the phone, and makes him furious.

There was no doubt that sparks fly between the two drivers at the red light and before it even changes Roman dashes through the light in his black Jeep only to be pulled over by the Reno PD. Sabina speeds by him with her music blaring and smiles at him sweetly as he glares back at her, only to meet face to face in the Casino/Hotel lobby. Not knowing whom she is dealing with she taunts the big man by offering to pay for his ticket with the change she has in her pocket. Arriving at the fire station on Monday, both stop dead in their footsteps when they realize whom the other is. Dio Mia how the sparks begin to fly, but they contain them until Roman can no longer keep his hands from his subordinate, the only female firefighter at Fire Station 1.

Ms. Bernard has written a sexual tension-filled love story that has great potential. All supporting characters are true to themselves and complement each other nicely. She did a great job getting to the depth of the main characters and making them feel real to the reader. Through her descriptive words, the reader can transport himself or herself to San Gabriel, California and almost smell the sage all around.

This book captivates its reader, is an easy read, and one that the reader will not want to put down until finished. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a little light reading with a, will she or won’t he realize what’s right in front of them, and will the curse of Firehouse 1 ever be broken.

It was a good book that I've had for a while & kept putting off reading. It's the 3rd in the series & as usual I didn't read the other 2 first. The 2 lead characters meet unexpectedly in Reno where Sabina is spending Thanksgiving & Roman is passing through to his new job, at a stop light Sabina's loud music bothers Roman while on the phone & it creates events that are hilarious to start off the story. They meet again in a Casino hotel lobby while checking in after Roman has been pulled over & ticketed for jumping a traffic light & talking on a cell phone while driving & Sabina gets pulled over for her excessive noise. Sabina is rude to him as he tries to bully her into an apology for his tickets & then ends up having dinner with him & almost falling into bed with him. Sabina is a female firefighter with a big secret, she used to be a famous child actress & her mother is a famous actress who she's been estranged from for 13 yrs now. With the arrival of a new chief at the fire station things are strained, not only because Chief Rick Roman(Roman) is a hard as nails chief & the new training officer but also because he's the guy from the Reno Casino. Roman is from NY & is a single father...a widower from 9/11 when his firefighter wife was killed in the collapse. Roman is trying to put a lid on all the media that the station is getting because of the name given to the firefighters under his command.... Bachelor Firefighters.... but with the outing of a semi nude scene in a Zombie movie that Sabina did at 19 comes all the craziness again. Her mother's agent is trying to force Sabina into a return to TV for a reunion series with her mother & is doing everything possible to bring the paparazzi in her direction hoping to force her out of the department & back onto the screen. In the meantime Sabina & Roman become closer & then Sabina's life is put on the line during a fire call which changes everything. Now they have to figure out a way to make things work even though neither of them has spoken the words needed...yet. With the side story of Roman's son Luke & Sabina's Little Sister Carly's baseball team & their running away to find Carly's father this story took you on a heart felt ride.

Jennifer Bernard writes smokin hot burning...FIRES!! Ha ha, No seriously...Bernard know the recipe for romance, Smokin Heroes + Hot Tempered Heroines = Burning Passion!!

If Jennifer Bernard keeps writing heroes like Roman...well...I guess I will just have to make room at the top of my favorite romance heroes list!

He had to call her right away and communicate this important message. He snatched up his cell phone and punched her number. He'd figure out what to say once she answered. Maybe something like You're mine, woman, all mine.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED SEX AND THE SINGLE FIREMAN!! This series just keeps getting better and better and the firemen just keep getting hotter and hotter!

Sabina, or better known as Number Two, gives new Chief, Rick Roman, or better known as "Sexy Jeep Guy" a run for his money...or hers...since she was the child super star. The storyline in SEX AND THE SINGLE FIREMAN is so much fun. Sabina and Rick have so much sexual tension between them, and a jealous Rick is a sexy Rick!

I loved getting to know Rick better and to be able to see him interact with his thirteen year-old son, Luke, was funny, and charming. Give him another ten years and Luke might just be a danger to women's hearts all on his own! Who doesn't love a sexy firemen with a protective streak a mile wide and he can cook amazing Italian...I know...I'll fight you for him!!

Sabina had her own issues that just couldn't be hidden any longer and when they come out into the light...they SHINE BABY!! Her mother, Annabelle, was a trip. She had me shaking my head wondering if she ever stopped to just listen to herself speak...cracked me up! The more I got to know Sabina, the more I liked her. She was humble, strong and quite the little snarky thing when she wanted to be.

I can't say enough GREAT things about Jennifer Bernards Firemen series, I have enjoyed getting to know each and every character...cough...Brody...ehem...and I can't wait to see who or what she has next in store for us!! Psycho anyone?? Yummy!!

This series is BURNING HOT and is highly recommended by A Tasty Read.

Enjoy and Happy Reading!!

For this review and more visit my blog

I have not read a fireman romance in years so I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into Sex and the Single Fireman, and for the most part I was not disappointed. To be honest the whole thing was a little far-fetched but it was sweet, funny and at times I struggled to put it down. I thought the writing and storytelling was strong but I would have liked more fire action. The small scene there was really came alive for me and I found myself wanting more, but it was not to be.

I really enjoyed the character. Rick is AMAZING and I had a bit of a thing for him. He tries so hard to be tough and stern but behind all that he was just one big softy. He is a great dad and an understanding boss but he sucks at handling romance. He just had no idea what to do with Sabina, he half wanted to throw her down and have his way with her and half wanted to run away screaming. He makes some silly mistakes in the romance department but all in all he is adorable.

Sabina was awesome as well, I had bundles of respect for her and the decisions she made in her life. She refused to be pushed around and I thought she handles herself well with the situation she found herself in. She had a tendency to jump to conclusions which could be a smidge amazing but mostly I loved her. Like Rick she was useless at romance and messed things up as much as Rick did.

I loved the romance there were sparks flying everywhere; Bernard sure knows how to write a couple with chemistry. She also knows how to write great sex and the bedroom scenes were explosive.

My one real complaint was that it went on a little too long. It could have done with being at least 50 pages shorter, other than that I really enjoyed and I cannot wait to read more of this series. Especially if the next book focuses on the frankly devastating psycho.

Roman is the man!!

SEX AND THE SINGLE FIREMAN by Jennifer Bernard is now my favorite. Roman is everything a woman could want in a man. He's handsome, sexy, brooding at times, but he can cook and he's a wonderful father. He's tough as nails when he needs to be but gentle and caring when the moment dictates the need. Sabina is tough, feisty, and a role model for women who want to make their life count. She makes me want to join the fire department.

This is a story about love had, love found, and love never forgotten. It's about sacrificing one's needs for another and caring when no one expects it. Jennifer's writing is excelling when I thought it couldn't excel more. She's conjuring emotions and depth in her characters that I thought were already there but then they become ever more endearing and relatable with each story.

I highly recommend SEX AND THE SINGLE FIREMAN by Jennifer Bernard for anyone who truly loves a great story, touching moments that make you sigh, family oriented relationships, and romance, romance, romance. One thing for sure, if you want to meet an absolutely sexy, all male man who has a gentle side that makes you sigh, and a tough side that makes you respect his kick ass attitude - Jennifer has created him in Rick Roman.

A chance encounter full of sparks on Thanksgiving weekend and a nightmare 'meet the new boss' moment as Firefighter Sabrina Jones and Fire Chief Rock Roman off on an awkward and very bad foot. A snarky and sexy, humorous and sometimes sweet encounter for me to a new to me author and series.

Sex and the Single Fireman is book three in the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel. There were mentions and appearances of previous books' main characters, but this one worked fine as a standalone.

Rock has transferred from the East Coast to the West Coast for his son's sake and a new start. His first encounter with a rude, fiery woman has him wondering if he made the right decision. And, then he spots her in the line up of the fire station crew he is planning to train. No, he is not touching that and he has a job to do no matter what fiery attraction he has to put out.

Sabrina gets an attitude around the holidays knowing her mother is off doing her thing and doesn't even have time to pick up the phone or tell Sabrina how to reach her so when a sexy man in the car beside her politely asks her to turn down her radio so he can hear his phone, she cranks it. Later, when they're getting along fine, she ditches him with just an abrupt note. And, yeah, he's her new hard-nose boss who wants them all in perfect condition and working toward a better rep at the station. But, she's not done causing awkward situations when she really has no reason, but insults him in front of his son and her past comes back to light up the news media and put her fire station right back in the middle of the type of rep Rock was working them all toward leaving behind. She's worse than a raging wildfire so why would he want anything to do with her, right?

There is humor, easy attraction, a fun set up, and who can resist a firefighter romance? I was all set for a light and flirty though spicy romance between a cranky fire chief and a snarky firefighter and it was that. The comedy starts right in the opening scene and keeps going along that line of the heroine putting her foot in it a few times.

But, I'm going to buck the tide and be the person who just did not get off on the right foot with the heroine. I went through swings from liking her to getting irritated with her for her unnecessary snark and behavior at times. I didn't find the way she took out her hurt and anger at her mom out on Rock funny nor a few follow up episodes where she keeps unloading her smart mouth on him and copping an attitude when he ignores the attraction and focuses on the job. But, there was another side. She really did have a tough and sad family situation and I had full respect for how she sorted out her life and earned her place on the fire crew.
Roman gives off a bad impression to the crews at the firestation because he has to be the bad guy who comes in after the popular chief and gets the job of whipping things into shape. He hides why he is the way he is- his wife was an emergency responder in NYC during 9/11 and she didn't survive. He's tough because he wants these people doing a dangerous job to have the best chance at surviving.

One episode of Sabrina's did stand out to me and not in a good way. Her friend and fellow firefighter took all the blame, but in my mind, she should have owned some of that fall out. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought she pulled a stupid when her supposed help in conditioning Vader to being comfortable around his girlfriend's gay brother was to take a buff firefighter into a gay bar on a Friday night. Fresh meat!!! Monday night maybe and early, but Friday? Did she really expect that to come out well? The poor guy got surrounded and hit on and he panicked.

I enjoyed how this pair, when they got past the shenanigans, were able to help each other get past things and through the new situations. She was good with his son Luke and he was good for her young sister Carly who were about the same age. Her mom was a real piece of work and her uncle not far behind her. I love how she held her ground with Roman backing her up.

Was this a terrible book? Not even close. But, this is a case of me getting a wild hair up my nose when she was the jerk right from page one. It's a light, sexy romcom with a little depth caused by their separate complicated pasts. Those who want sexy firefighters and steam have come to the right place.

It's another tale of the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel! This time, it is the story of one of the few women in the group. I can admit to an higher expectation with this title than the previous one I had read (The Fireman Who Loved Me) because it focused on a woman firefighter instead of the traditionally male one.

This story, I discovered, was more emotional than that other story with most the conflict being internal rather than external. There were a few outside problems that affected the plot--the infamous popularity of the firemen, several fire emergencies, the town itself-- but most of the conflict was how Roman and Sabina dealt with their own feelings from past mistakes, heartbreaks, and disappointments.

One particularly interesting element was how the characters did not overcome all of their emotional issues, as most characters in romance tend to do. Instead, they learned from each other how to be strong and live with the problems they have. Not all problems in this world are easily overcome, some are with a person until the day. There are some things in life that are not insurmountable and shouldn't be. I felt the characters did a good job of demonstrating how to live and love despite the fears and issues that impact everyday life.

That being said, I was enjoying the story up until the ending. Seriously, how the author resolved the hero's fears of having (another) firefighter wife was enough to wipe out the beginning's warm feelings. I won't say exactly how it ended because of spoilers, but it really got me down. The most annoying part was the lack of conversation between Roman and Sabina. He made his decision and then did it.

Even more upsetting was how okay Sabina was with this decision. I know she wanted what was best for Roman, but come on! I don't know too many couples who aren't offended by their partner making life changing decisions without first discussing with the other partner. I can understand Roman feeling like he did; he has a son and his own personal well-being to consider, but I don't understand why he did it the way he did.

I was glad the author revisited a few of the characters from previous books, too. It lightened the mood in areas and kept the book from becoming too dramatic or serious. Sometimes previous characters's appearances can distract from the current story but that wasn't the case here. These characters complemented the main story very nicely.

Overall, it was difficult to see such an entertaining story resolve in such a flat way. This completely overshadowed my entire feelings of the whole book. The beginning had the makings of a well rounded story: emotional, witty, funny, romantic. *sigh* That ending though... I can admit to the possibility that I may be overly severe in my opinion because I had such high expectations. I tend to do this with stories featuring heroines in strong roles. Nonetheless, it was a good story, just not the great one I was hoping for.

Prelim Review: Contemporary romance and myself are in a weird relationship. I read them more now then I did before, but its still not a genre I can confidently say I enjoy wholeheartedly.

That said SEX AND THE SINGLE FIREMAN is an entertaining and satisfying read. I haven't read the previous books in the "Bachelor Fireman" series (The Fireman Who Loved Me and Hot for Fireman), but surprisingly this didn't impact my enjoyment of the book at all. I found that the backstory for Sabina and Roman, individually and together, was enough to keep me interested in the story.

As for the heat...well...I can't make myself write a pun. I just can't. But you get the idea.

This was also a bit of a crossover appeal novel. Not just firemen, but also a lot is delved into with Sabina's life as a child TV star and the lasting impact that has. In a world where child stars are routinely paraded on tabloid and magazine covers, or in blog reports and Hollywood Scandal shows as having difficulties adjusting to their adult years, I found it refreshing that Sabina took that step and walked away before it came to that. Roman for his part had a lot to deal with because of the death of his wife (also a firefighter), raising his son alone and being Sabina's boss, but I was more invested in his present circumstances (struggling to find the same passion he once had for being a firefighter) and where that ultimately led him.

The tension is palatable throughout the novel, but it never feels...strained I suppose is a good word. The two of them don't get together until fairly late in the book (last third), but that connection is still there. It was almost sweet really, how they both obviously wanted to encourage the other, but was thwarted by overly ambitious mothers, coworkers who didn't know when to quit and regulations that could strangle them.

I was not a fan of the resolution between Sabina and her mother Annabelle. While the truth wasn't particularly surprising, given the circumstances, what was surprising was that it took them this long to get to the bottom of things.

Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It was a (really) quick read and was perfect to jumpstart my want for romance once more.

I was so excited to get this book to review. Jennifer Bernard always delivers such sexy heartwarming stories and it was just what I needed. Sometimes I get caught up in erotic and eventually it just burns me out and I need to a switch up. Without fail this book did the job.

This is the third book in the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel. I honestly think this is my favorite of the series so far. I have enjoyed all the books in the series, but for some reason this one just captured my heart and I fell in love with the characters, the action, and of course their love story.

Sabina and Roman do not meet under normal circumstances. They first meet in a casino in Reno over Thanksgiving. Later she learns that he is the new Training officer for her fire station. They are polar opposites in personality, but they mesh extremely well behind closed doors. He is trying to build a new life for him and his son. He is not looking for a relationship and especially not one with a firefighter. His wife was a firefighter who he lost in the 9/11 attacks. He can’t go down that road again.

Sex and the Single Fireman is the third in the Bachelor Firemen series, it will be available in January but is up for pre-order now.

Rick Roman lost his wife in the attacks on 9/11 and has been a single father ever since. Rick wants to do what is best for his son Luke and look is a great baseball pitcher, so Rick is moving from NYC to San Gabriel to give his son the chance to play baseball year round. Rick has never found it hard to keep his tough but fair reputation firmly in place that is until her meet the sexy Sabina.

Sabina has worked hard the last ten years to be the best firefighter she can be, trying to put her past behind her she has told no one the secret of her former life.
Sabina meets Rick and they have the heat and intensity of a backdraft, the course of love is never a smooth one and Rick and Sabina will be put to the test when her past makes her and the station prime time news.

Once again we are invited into the lives of the bachelor firemen of San Gabriel Station 1 and we have a front row seat to the sparks and flames that are put off when Rick and Sabina try to work out the issues surrounding her past, his loss and keep all of them out of the tabloids.
I enjoyed the humor and the steam of Sex and the Single Fireman, I thought that the adjustments that Rick and Luke had to make moving from the East coast to the West were well written and down right hysterical at times. I loved the chemistry that Sabina and Rick have and that they have some realistic hurdles to clear for them to make it to the HEA. I love the secondary characters of the other firemen, Sabina's mother and her "little sister" and look forward to seeing more of some of their stories in future books.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review

I really enjoyed Sex and the Single Fireman. It was well written, realistic, and fun. It was also serious and deep at times. A nice balance.

It starts out with the two main characters in an antagonistic situation, which I enjoyed immensly. I guess I like a grumpy verbose female lead. It's much easier to antagonize when you think you'll never see someone again. Then, as fate would have it, they end up at the same hotel in Reno. And things get REALLY interesting. Although, I WAS hoping for a different outcome there.

When Sabina returns to work, she gets yet another surprise. Sabina is a female firefighter and truly loves what she does. I really enjoyed her personality and grit, especially after her past becomes common knowledge. She has a major secret that she has been hiding from for years.

Rick Roman is a firefighter also. He lost his first wife in the 9/11 attacks and is raising his son alone. He is known for running a tight ship and this firehouse proves to be his greatest challenge yet. He is trying so hard to distance himself from his attraction toward Sabina, but life keeps happening.

A well written story that captured and held my interest from the beginning. As this was the 3rd book in this series, I will be eagerly seeking books 1 and 2.

This was just so-so for me. I honestly like all the characters in the book (aside from Max & sometimes Annabelle). There are a multitude of personalities that keep you entertained as the story progresses. However, I felt like there was TOO much going on at times. Max & Annabelle were horrible. I just don't understand why Sabina didn't just change her number & get a restraining order. I would have in a heartbeat. I think the story could have lost AT LEAST 50 pages if not a few more. There was a feeling that the author just kept creating conflicts to make things drag out longer when in actuality they could have been resolved quickly & easily. It wasn't horrible but it could have done with some revisions & exclusions. In the end, the likable & enjoyable characters could only pull you in to the story for so long until the endless twists & turns get to be overwhelming. I'm gonna read the first two in the series to determine if maybe it was just this particular story or if its the particular author that didn't pull me in enough.

I really liked the depth to the romance.

There are aspects with this series that I just can’t really connect with anymore. I came to enjoy Rick Roman and Sabina in SEX AND THE SINGLE FIREMAN, but I was still missing the enjoyment from the entire crew.

Roman and Sabina got off to an anonymously bad start that takes them on a whirlwind of ups and downs.

Roman has come to the station to put an end to the “Bachelor Firemen” media, but hits a huge glitch when it comes out that Sabina is a child star of a hugely successful TV show with her estrange mother.

Sabina never wanted her past to meet her present. With pressure from her mother and former agent, they are willing to go to any length to try to force her back into acting.

Meanwhile his son and Sabina’s “little sister” find friendship through baseball and aid in Roman and Sabina’s budding relationship that is against the code.

Review of Sex and the Singe Fireman by Jennifer Bernard , Harper Collins February 2013
Sabrina Jones likes to keep things simple and she not a big dater, so when she sees a magnificent hunk of a man in Reno, she went for it. Who’s going to find out? Did she know that hunk was going to be Rocco Roman her new boss? And so begins this delicious tale of a love you cannot have. Sabrina and Rocco are fighter fighters and with as much heat as they generate, they should walk around with a fire extinguisher. They try to be good , they really do.This book was fantastic, I love Roman and he is my new “book Boyfriend”. This is the third book in a series and I hadn’t read the others and it’s ok. Of course I’m now going to go back and read them. If all Firemen were like Roman, I would be a pyromaniac.

This was the best book in the series.... BY FAR!!

Firefighter and firefighter!!

It wasn't as "fluffy" as the others. It had depth and emotion.

Put it this way... It was hot!

Hot! Hot! Hot!

I love this book and have reread it many times. Roman is my favorite bachelor fireman hero and Sabina is really good too. I think she's a very realistic female firefighter, although her background is a little far fetched. That doesn't matter because the actual romance is great. Their mutual attraction and how they get to know each other is really romantic (as it should be, but isn't always). Unlike so many other romances, you can actually see why these two would fall in love after the initial attraction.

I loved this booked and plowed my way through it!! Of course I love a good Firefighter story and to have both the female AND male lead on the force was lots of fun. Sabina is a stubborn female who won't give up, who will find a way to make her point but learns something about herself along the way and I really like to see that is a book. Roman was a tough guy on the outside and sweetheart on the inside. Again, love it. I can't wait to read the next in thi series :)

Very nice story and the 911 reference tugged on my heart strings.
The beginning with the car scene cracked me up.
I really liked Roman and Sabina and thought Luke was a sweet kid. I loved that he called Roman, Papa.
I was wondering how their HEA was going to work out and therefor loved how they sorted that out.
