Possibly the most important collection of poems and essays in our time. Yes, Kenneth Pike probably wrote these many short pithy reflections as a thoughtful and godly response in an age of student protest in the late 1960s. But is that not both the mark and the need of our times as well? Individuals and communities dealing with dilemmas that shape our actions, giving voice to justice on social issues, finding language that unites people, expressing commitment through bringing life to others, and translating events in the real world of mess and strife?

Poems by a linguist...better if you watch a movie of Pike reading (as I did, in linguistics classes with Wm. Smalley). Good memories.
