It turns out that some of the fairy tales Xandra learned as a child were true after all.
Xandra's world is turned upside down when her changed destiny comes back to haunt her. Her only way back to the life she craves is by standing up against beings who are stronger than she is. With her relationship with Kallen hanging in the balance, she had better hope fate is truly on her side this time.
2. My children. (Please don’t tell my kids I listed fans before them. You may cause a riot in my home. They’re pretty feisty kids.)
3. My cats and dogs when they’re not making me sniffle, sneeze, rub my eyes or irritating my asthma. (Scratch that, they always do and I love them anyway.)
4. Writing. (I would have listed this first, but it would have looked bad. Worse than putting fans before my kids.)
5. Good friends. (Fortunately, I have several.)
6. Quiet evenings at home in front of the fireplace reading a good book. (Please, like that’s going to happen with five kids in the house - but I can dream can’t I?)
7. I got stuck here so I asked a couple of friends to tell me their fondest memory of me. This is what I got:
Deb: It was when you used to babysit Michael and rode the horse in Meijer so he could ride with you. Also......my first trip to TX for a wedding. You were at my house and said you would put my clothes in the dryer when they were done. Needless to say, the next morning I had to pack wet clothes in my suitcase. The airline lost my luggage for 4 days so when I finally got it back, my clothes were all mildewed. (Okay, in my defense – I was twelve at the time. The sad thing is, I still forget to put clothes in the dryer.)
Michele: I have too many…but one of the first that popped in my head was how you drove all the way to Chicago to look at my apartment for me because I was too hung over, and then gave me all the details so I could pretend I was there. You are a good friend... (It was only a seven hour round trip. What are friends for?)
Joe: A particular Domino’s pizza delivery and you invited the delivery guy inside…(I’m going to stop there because my ex-husband thinks he’s funny.)
For obvious reasons, I didn’t ask anyone else.
Hates:
1. Puppies, kittens, babies, sunshine, peace on earth, goodwill, recycling, education, gifts, and sweets of any kind. (Really, I do.)
2. Being facetious. (I would never dream of it!)
3. People who don’t read my books. (Well, maybe not all of them. But, most of them.)
4. People who always manage to stop by the house when I look terrible. (You know who you are…)
5. Lumberjacks. (Don’t know why, just do.)
Now that you know everything about me, you should drop by my Facebook page to tell me all about you.
Blood of Dragons is going to be my last book with this series, which is very sad because I loved it at the beginning. Now, it has become nothing more than a formula.
1. Someone pisses off Xandra. 2. Xandra throws a tantrum/asks “do you know what I am?”/shoots off her mouth and a “mine is bigger than yours” battle ensues. 3. Kallen gets mad about something. Either it’s Xandra or something dealing with Xandra. 4. Ghost parents. 5. Ghost dad gets all huffy at bio dad who is trying to make up for the past and have an actual relationship with his daughter. THIS HAPPENS. IT IS A THING. 6. Everyone gets mad at Xandra for not being able to control her magic/know something that all of them know even though she wasn't raised around any of the same things they were, which seemingly she’s not had long and didn’t know about/wasn't taught because her mother didn't want her knowing about stuff like magic. But, it's easier to get mad at Xandra and think she's beneath them which brings about point 2 all over again. 7. Someone is trying to kill someone else.
I loved this series so much. Xandra was brash and took no crap, but it became old. Very old. There are only so many pissing contests I can read about before I just want to close the book (or pick another one on my Kindle in this case) before I just want nothing more to do with it. Xandra, by this point, should have shown some growth. How many times does Kallen need to lecture her about reigning in her temper? I hate how she makes very little effort or no effort at all to conform to the cultures she’s around, instead expecting the other cultures to bend to her. She’s 17, now a married woman, yet she still acts like a petulant child.
As for this book, the soul switching was too much. The marriage outcome was too much. It’s come down to the point of being “how much longer can you drag this out?” Either marry them or don’t. The changed destiny thing bothered me as well. Honestly, there wasn’t much about this book that I did like. Tabitha, a character I normally like a lot, well, she could have been fed to the dragons and I would have been happy.
I don't know what it is about this series that continues to hold my interest...sometimes it is so sugary sweet I think I will have a toothache, but I push forward because the author is truly talented and has a way of creating her characters to where I want to slap them at times and then turn around and laugh. Some series have a way of falling to the side after a few installments, but this author delivers with a good storyline each time. It is complete fantasy, but I can't help it, its good!
Xandra is one of my favourite characters and I can truly identify with her "take no prisoners" attitude and lack of diplomacy. I have been accused of that myself a time or two and know the feeling of foot in mouth disease on numerous occasions. We start off with Xandra and Kallen having to become right-hand fasted due to the fact that the rings on their fingers are blinding everyone and broadcasting the fact that they have had sex. Yes no privacy among the Fae that is for sure and if it was me, I would have gotten naked with Kallen a long time before this so you have to admire her restraint. Tabitha has been kidnapped by goblins no less and a rescue attempt must be planned in record time as she is being held captive in the dragon realm which is not an ideal place considering the dragons treat the goblins as their own private food source. After a shotgun wedding is organised (just kidding) Xandra is about to kiss Kallen and she opens her eyes to find that she is not with Kallen any longer but with the angels. To make matters worse, she is in the body of Raziel the archangel who changed her destiny because he loved her enough to want her happiness, talk about an invasion of the body snatchers feeling. So that meant Raziel's soul transferred into Xandra and he ended up kissing Kallen instead - talk about an awkward moment to tell the grandchildren one day. I so did not expect the changing of bodies element which took me by surprise but it adds a depth to both characters and having walked in each other's shoes both Xandra and Raziel understood each other more. Plenty of magic and mayhem as somehow Xandra needs to get back into her own body if she ever wants to be with Kallen again, rescue Tabitha and save everyone from the dragons. There is the matter of being overwhelmed with all the knowledge of the world that Raziel has to attend to. I do recall something about Xandra challenging the Angel of Destruction to a magical duel which has future repercussions and learning how hard it is to fit in when you are not really an angel but a witch fairy in disguise. It should be a walk in the park right but with Xandra life is always a bit messy and complicated and the ending leaves you anxiously awaiting the next chapter in Xandra's life. Thanks Bonnie for a wonderfully entertaining read, I enjoyed every minute of it.
This was a GREAT book! I enjoyed the switched bodies - although the soul mating part with Kallen and Raziel at the end could have not happened. (Too much happened, that was just slightly over the top.) The wedding was so good. The relationships with Kallen and Raziel was a nice twist, with each gaining a new friend. It was great that Raziel has found his partner and its not Xandra. And I loved that they are all living with Isla. And, Xandra was Xandra, but she is gaining wisdom with her power. She is such a great character and a joy to read. I love seeing the situations her mouth gets her into and out of. The romance for Isla was interesting. I don't know if she will be able to bend enough to forgive Garren, but I'm guessing it will be an rollercoaster getting there.

Once again I am amazed by Bonnie Lamer. I love how she makes everything right with this book. She always ties up loose ends with the previous books but opens up more questions with each new book. One of my favorite series!
A great book, I have been keeping up with this story for quite sometime and each story never disapponts. Now I am looking forward to see the plans Belial (evil dog) had in store...
There is nothing I can say about this book series that I haven't said before. As always a great installment of this series. Could not put it down. Can't wait for the next one.
I'm finished with Blood of Dragons: OYE, not what I expected, definitely would not want to share my body with another soul. Xandra shows her strengths again, GO WITCH FAIRY.
The more I read in this series, the more I want. I can’t wait until the next book and the next. I know when I get closer to the end I will be slower in my reading to prolong it. Thank you so much for have such a brilliant mind….
This review is for books till Book #8. Recommendation? Stop reading at Book#7.5
I've a different review posted for Book#8. But from 1-7, this series is just awesome.
Xandra is coming of age and learns a whole new world and about herself. She deals with many challenges and comes off as any teenager - a bit confused, a bit arrogant, chastened by elders and at times rebellious.
Kallen is the character that shines in this series. He is powerful but his power is easily overshadowed by the more powerful Xandra. Yet he never lets that affect his ego or his relationship with Xandra. He manages to come off as the more mature, in-charge person. The intimate scenes between the duo are at the same time passionate and tender.
There is a lot of "wow-gorgeous" falling-for-looks-mainly thing happening but the way the characters are depicted takes away the sting of it.
Overall - the series till Book 7.5, has a natural easy flow of stories without awkward pauses or WTF moments. Totally recommend!
I seriously would love to give this whole series a five star rating EXCEPT.... I am so tired of having to skip over page after page... after page... of sex, sex, sex. The story is so cute and imaginative and fun. But, what a ripoff that she uses up so much space with "filler". The filler being page-wasting sex, for crying out loud. I have kept on with the series, dealing with the fact that only half of each book deals with the story line, by flipping through the sex pages. I was hoping that now they are finally married, we could get on with more substance... But I read the reviews on the next two books and it looks like now it only gets worse. So I'm throwing in the towel. Done. What a waste of talent.
When I started this series, I was pretty sure I would not make it this far. I found book one to be too fluffy and a little more mindless than I usually like, but the series has grown on me so I continue through... One thing I need to get off of my chest at this juncture is this... When one plants their fists on their hips and stands before you with their legs slightly parted, this is called standing akimbo. Unfortunately this seems to be the only way this author knows how to describe this stance, and the characters "stand akimbo" a lot. It is annoying and I enjoy descriptors that are varied as repetition can be really annoying. I will be here, standing akimbo, until Xandra's next adventure.
I am on the fence about this book. I usually love the books that come out of this series...but this one left me feeling blah. I was hoping for something more to come of Azriel and Xandra. Maybe Xandra actually falling in love with Azriel but in the end stays with Kallen. I wish we could've had more of Isla and her beau. I do think Xandra needs to begin to grow up a bit. Kallen should be rubbing off on her some. I love her sassiness, but sometimes it is just too much. I enjoyed the book, I just didn't love it.
Another really good story by Bonnie Lamer! I love this series. The only thing that prevented me from giving it 5 stars *Spoiler Alert* was the souls between Xandra and Raziel switching bodies. I understand the lessons they needed to learn, just have a hard time wrapping my mind around it :) Cant wait to read book 8!
Definitely not my favorite of the series. It was okay, but having the story come from both Raziel's and Xandra's first person perspective just made it confusing, rather than more interesting. I liked most of the story, but it seemed not quite enough plot for a whole book.
So I still love this series - I finish 1 and buy the next immediately. But I was disappointed in this one. Easily my least favorite. It started off so exciting and great and then tanked (for me). That didn't stop me from buying the next one though!
I really enjoyed the appearance of Raziel as a bigger role in Xandra's life. Much bigger, actually.. A lot of mess and adventure once more, this time, with dragons! I really wish that Xandra could catch a break! lol :)
there happy little family keeps growing. happy to see that love finds everyone. now to finish up with the Dragons, figure out the hand fast thing. and take care of another problem that come with the new day.
I've read seven of the books in this series. Other than one that I couldn't get into (may have just been me) I have enjoyed these. This seems to be in the Teen Supernatural Romance genre, but interesting even at my age (not a teen
