Caleb's an ordinary guy...except for his bizarre ability to adapt to any situation. Really. Any. Fire and water are no problem for Caleb.
Someone is shoving innocents into dangerous situations. Again and again Caleb is forced to act--until he decides he must stop the person who's trying to draw him out.
He already suspected his attractive neighbor is his stalker and then she demonstrates the rare ability of seeing him as he adapts. After Caleb confronts her, he has another problem on his hands. He’s told the innocent civilian Melinda far too much about himself and she apparently has some extraordinary skills herself.
Her extraordinary skills might make Melinda a target of the nuisance who's stalking Caleb. And, thanks to his mistake, the nuisance of an agency that controls his life has been alerted to her existence as well. Caleb decides he has to protect and hide her from his friends and foes. Maybe she won't notice he's pretending they've got a future together.
Summer Devon is the pen name writer Kate Rothwell often uses. Whether the characters are male or female, human or dragon, her books are always romance.
You can visit her facebook page, where there's a sign up form for a newsletter (she'll only send out newsletters when there's a new Summer Devon or Kate Rothwell release and she will never ever sell your name to anyone).
The plot was a good idea and had so much potential but the characters were bland and I just could not connect with them. The spice and writing was mediocre. Which is a shame because that plot could have worked so well as a longer book.
Can't log onto GoodReads via my work computer for some reason. Had to resort to using my phone, very frustrating.
In a nutshell, this is a science fiction novella with a light romantic element. It has a heavy superhero theme and the hero is definitely unique. He's not the brightest crayon in the box and he's perfectly content in being the low man on the totem pole. He carries the book and the heroine was very passive in comparison.
Reminded me of a cross between Carolyn Crane's Disillusionment series and the Incredibles movie.
