This is the main problem in the books of Dallas Mayo = Gilbert Fox. Books written before 1970 suffer from writing restrictions due to fear of censorship. In the books from the sixties, the writer is very reserved and avoids developing the plot with revealing erotic descriptions. At the same time, the author does not usually in some scenes detail and reveal everything. He usually leaves the reader to fill in the missing details.
Has a fun role-reversal plot at it is centerpiece. Plus a crime sub-plot, but that gets a bit lost until the end when it is needed to wrap everything up. Unfortunately most of the book is disembodied expository dialogue. And some great potential scenes are too quickly dispensed with via short summaries rather than being shown scenically. Disappointing that a good plot and characters were, with the exception of a few fully realized scenes, mostly wasted.
