Even vampires get tired of playing with their food…
Running an off-grid community for vampires is serious business, and Remy Winslow gives it her all. Weary of the world and its noise, she’s content to live at Dark Haven and away from the public eye after all the work she did to help vampires come into the light, so to speak, so humans and vampires could live side by side. The last thing Remy needs is more press, but that’s exactly what she gets when Sage comes to Dark Haven.
Internet influencer and all around positivity pusher, Sage Samara can’t wait to chat up all the vampires available at the Vampire News Conference, and then after, during her stay at the mysterious Dark Haven ranch. And when she sees Remy looking utterly hot and powerful, she’s even more buzzed. Sure, she’s a human among vampires, but they totally don’t act that way anymore…right?
Disaster signals a swift change in politics, and then vampires start going feral. Between keeping Sage from being someone’s meal and trying to stop a war between species, Remy is too busy for the long dead emotions Sage is bringing back to life.
When a traitor threatens everything they’ve built, Remy may have no choice but to do the unthinkable.

The author is new to me and I am so pleased I bought this book! Dark Haven by Brey Willows is a vampire fantasy novel that surprised me in a good way because it was such a good story!

The plot was so interesting and different from most of the vampire books I’ve read, my interest was piqued straight off the bat, from chapter 1.

I also appreciate how the author supplied character backstories. The backstory drip felt very natural in situations when it was presented and didn’t feel staged? It was smooth and everything just flowed.

The language the “influencer character” used was on point, cringy and came out authentic. Even the other “younger” 20-something computer nerd had it down pat.

I was just so amazed of the idea of vampires trying to break out of the monster mold and trying to assimilate with the general populace. For me, it’s a unique perspective which I haven’t read before which is why I am so thrilled by this story.

In summary, Dark Haven is worth the read especially if you’re in to the vampire lore.

What happens when the Vampires living among the humans have enough of the modern world and retreat into a community of their own? With Dark Haven Brey Willows delivers a refreshing and intriguing spin on the paranormal vampire trope that pulls you in and keeps you turning pages late into the night.

In this refreshing dark urban fantasy vampires have come out to the humans and live openly among them. But not all of them love the modern lifestyle or being the subject of human curiosity. So Remy Winslow runs an off grid compound for vampires to life a quiet life among themselves. That gets threatened when Sage Samara, a pro vampire influencer, manages to secure a week long stay at Dark Haven. To make sure that Sage’s blood doesn’t turn into an irresistible temptation for the residents of Dark Haven Remy gets tasked to have a watchful eye over her.

I loved the unique approach to the vampire trope and the age-gap romance that develops between Remy and Sage. The subtle and seamless threads of political and environmental issues that are woven into the story fabric make this a deep and thought provoking read. The characters a fun and lovable from the first page or maybe a tiny bit intimidating in the case of Remy. I wish I could tap into the wealth of century long knowledge Remy has collected throughout her life.

This book is a great and thought provoking read and I loved every second of it. I will defiantly read this book again in the near future.

I received an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.

So Beautiful!

As an influencer, Sage gets the opportunity to attend the Vampire News Conference and has an exclusive chance to stay in Dark Haven, a ranch for vampires. Remy, who runs Dark Haven, has successfully bridged the gap between humans and vampires but her work isn’t over yet. Having Sage around comes with risks, both emotional and physical when a change in politics starts vampires going feral.

This was amazing! Brilliantly creative and nothing less than the imaginative stories we’ve come to know and love from Brey Willows. This had darker elements but for the most it was about passion, love, and truly good people who just wanted what we all do; to be accepted. I loved the mystery surrounding Remy and how infectious Sage was, bringing light and curiosity into Remy’s haven and completely turning her world upside down. Remy had great support in her friends, which she really needed when her emotional connection to Sage had her trying even harder than she had been before to keep her safe and prove to the rest of the world that not all vampires were a threat.

Sage really got under my skin, she made me as curious as she was inquisitive about everything in Dark Haven, Remy and her friend’s history, and growing as she learned about how listening to those you want to help is the best way, especially if you’re not from their background or living their experience. Both Sage and Remy developed their character wonderfully as this experience bought them closer to one another than either of them had ever imagined. That bond and closeness they eventually shared formed from something more than just an understanding but a true love for one another.

I really loved every minute of this story. It had amazing underlying messages about exclusion and inclusion, being an ally of those who are different to you, and genuinely wanting a better world for everyone, where no matter who you are you were respected. What a wonderful story, and hopefully Brey will do more stories about Remy and Sage, or just other vampires in future!

🖤 Age gap (...*quite* the age gap)
🌈 Lesbian MCs, queer side characters

Normally if I read lesfic romances I only read femme/femme, but vampires? In an off-grid community? And a wlw influencer happily charging in with her phone to annoy them? Fuck. Yes. 🌈

~*~*~*~

The lore and world building in this story is excellent and a lot of fun! I love how vampirism works in this world. The writing is interesting and kept me wanting to read, resulting in a late night or two lol. Well done Ms Willows!

I really liked our MCs. They're such different people from different worlds. So much so that you might wonder how they'd ever get along, let alone fall in love - but I think something lovely about Dark Haven is how much the shared experience of needing love, whether human or vampire, is what truly draws people together.

But. Despite having to occasionally reorient myself while reading, I really liked Sage as a character! The vampire cause is one that genuinely matters to her. Many of the vampires dismiss her as a silly, vapid young human and won't take her seriously. But she's brave enough to keep championing the cause even in the face of mounting hostility.

Remy, in spite of having been around a long time and displaying a certain tough cynicism, deeply cares for her community. And it's lovely watching Sage make her start to feel things again.

There's a great cast of side characters here who made me smile and added a feeling of cosy community despite all the tension going on throughout the story. And there were so many interesting explorations around communication and family that both Sage and Remy end up navigating and, dare I say, influencing each other on. How deep can someone's friendships be when they only ever happen over socials? But how deeply can you connect with others in today's world when you shut the world out?

Overall a fun and enjoyable read!

This may be a vampire story, but I just loved it as both a love story and a wonder as to what a different kind of world would mean. That’s not to say that vampires aren’t a part of the story, but somehow the term is limiting when spoken in the same breath as Dark Haven.

As is usual with Brey Willows, the book is a real page turner as we find a world with a sympathetic outlook to vampires suddenly finding things happening which bring doubt to their view. The vampires could be very much at risk. Remi who is the leading light of Dark Haven, an off-grid vampire community and Sage, a visiting internet influencer are at the center of things. In the midst of events, their relationship is a slow burn seething mass of wants, desires, fear, hope, dreams and loneliness that become important to the story. I just loved it.

The words that Brey Willows has chosen and the writing itself are special and beautifully crafted. We need more books like this!

Brey Willows created a new-to-me vampire world - complete with history and character relationships. I loved it! I'm really hoping this is a start of a series - hint hint. I found myself laughing out loud at the antics and behaviors of the "modern social influencer" Sage. The bubblegum happy influencer paired with the centuries old vampire grump in Remy played off each other well. Add to the romance a bit of mystery or vampire suspense this book was well-rounded. There's a whole vampire community that lives off the grid in our current time period. There's a bit more than surface relationship experiences which I enjoyed.

Yes, this is a predictable book, but ya know what? Doesn't matter one iota; it's damn near perfection. Always looking for a good vampy fiction and from the characters to the dialogue and plot this book delivers- hands down, bar none. You'll love the MCs, and phew, those love scenes are steamy so pace thyself. The plot is believable, especially in this day and age- vamps aside. It will take you a hot minute to warm up to the influencer, but once she plants some roots and does a wee bit of growing, colliding with the MC is a delicious affair. Highly recommend.

Dark Haven by Brey Willows draws you into the world of Remy Winslow. Remy heads up an almost self-sufficient community for vampires called Dark Haven and prefers to keep herself to herself. Life was going well until Sage Samara, an infuriating social media influencer, attends a vampire conference and subsequent weeks stay at Dark Haven. Little does Sage realise just how much danger she has placed herself in as events unfold.

The dynamics and back stories of the older vampires is interesting and very well written, giving a thought-provoking take on their world. When you are as old as Remy, you never know who can reappear in your life. The exquisite world building has you immersed in the vampire domain and their plight to be accepted. Despite Remy’s frustration and annoyance with Sage, something more than the exceptional chemistry is drawing them together.

This is the first book of Brey’s that I have read and won’t be the last, the twists and turns keep you wanting to read more, it’s a shame the book ended. I would highly recommend this book.

An ARC was received for my honest review.

Would you vacation in a community of vampires?

4.5 ⭐️ I was in need of a good sapphic vampire story and this book didn’t disappoint! Hard to put down even when necessary! Well written and engaging. The connection between the MCs was palpable and intense even to them. There were some predictable outcomes but they were still entertaining and handled uniquely through lead up to resolution. Highly recommend!

A great vampire story with some fresh takes on vampiric culture and history. I liked it a lot!
The characters were convincing. Also, adapting vampires to contemporary culture with social media, technology, and open conferences in hotels was excellently done.
I loved the MCs’ arc, and how their personal development depended on how much they got to know each other. Despite a short time frame, it still felt realistic enough.

Overall this is a great paranormal romance with some suspense and action to spice it up. Great pacing helps make it an easy read.

T&T:
Tropes: soulmates (OTP), vampires, age gap, butch/femme, political conflict, just one bed
Triggers: open-door sex scenes, violence on and off page, racism, losing a parent, mentions of war and death by fire.
Rating: 4.5 stars

I was endlessly captivated reading Dark Haven and completely enamoured by Willows' expert display of her craftmanship.  I'm truly a little bit heartbroken to have turned the last page of this story.

Dark Haven is a fabulous tale of vampires, vampire lore, and a cool sneaky peek at what a world with vampires and humans existing side by side might look like.

The plot is exceptionally well thought out and as a result the flow of the story is sublime, and thus an absolute joy to get lost in. I genuinely found Willows' take on vampire dynamics, their primordial powers and customs, and the back stories of the ancient vampires mesmerising.

With a solid paranormal romance at its core, Dark Haven is enhanced by a compelling mystery/intrigue vibe accompanied by lashings of hot and heavy sexy time.

Willows' is superb at writing characters within the butch/femme arena and this mastery is beautifully displayed with the main characters of Remy and Sage; two women who are just as strong as they are vulnerable.

Remy Winslow is as ancient as she is a hot butch vampire; one who firmly prefers the off-grid vamp life. Unfortunately, in a bid to further her species' place in the world and bring vampires out into the 'light' so to speak, she unintentionally found herself the posterchild of political action for the entire vampire community.

Jaded by her unending life and having born witness countless times to societies progression and subsequent destruction, Remy is in no mood to play host to the overly optimistic, glaringly human, Sage Samara.

A well known successful social media influencer, Sage is excited to share the inner workings of the vampire world with her followers. Eternally positive, Sage is idealistic often bordering on sweetly innocent, and quite simply doesn't see any danger in becoming the proverbial lamb in the lion's den. In fact, Sage isn't convinced that there is a lion's den to worry about in the first place!

Sage's naïve outlook begins to change when it becomes apparent that not everyone is overjoyed with her presence at Dark Haven, never mind with Remy's determination to successfully bring vampires out of the darkness and into the wider world.

As events unfold and the danger to both human and sympathetic vampires grows, so does the undeniable bond between Remy and Sage; a bond neither of them saw coming. Despite Remy's best intentions to concentrate solely on the safety of her community - her chosen family, the pull towards Sage is like nothing she's felt before; and Remy's been around long enough to have experienced most everything there is to feel in the world...

I adored Remy's character from the offset, and I warmed upto Sage once I got to know and understand her a little better. And as per usual Willows rounds out the Dark Haven clan with some brilliant side characters. I particularly loved Jet and Rac, the latter of which I would totally not want to ever come across in a dark room!

Dark Haven is a story of soul mates, of destiny written in the stars. But even more special, Dark Haven is a story which readers will struggle to drag their inner bookworm away from.

I received an arc copy of this book from Butterworth Books in exchange for an honest review.

I’m not sure how this is my first Brey Willows book, but it definitely won’t be my last! With Dark Haven, she’s created an epic fantasy world where she’s taken every mainstream vampire myth and tossed them out the window making space for some creative vampire lore.
The writing is engaging and descriptive leaving me able to visualize the characters, settings, and action. The dialogue is infused with witty humor and flirty banter and I couldn’t stop turning the pages.
Dark Haven is a sprawling two-hundred-acre property that is powered by solar and has its water supply. Community members work the fields, tend to the gardens, and build and maintain the lodge and cottages. It’s a safe place where vampires can be themselves. It has balanced energy where they can embrace absolute silence. I love when a setting is also a character in a book and Dark Haven is that.

The creativity of the storyline is one of my favorite elements. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill dark vampire tale. It’s a story filled with passion, love, and loyalty. I love how the theme of acceptance is woven throughout.

From the first moment, Remy and Sage meet, it’s clear that they are complete opposites but that chemistry is right there simmering under the surface. Remy is broody, introspective, and stoic. She’s been around for centuries and is jaded due to many of the circumstances she’s had to endure. Remy’s no-technology policy at Dark Haven is meant to keep her community members and herself focused on the moment. Sage, on the other hand, is like a naive little ray of sunshine whose entire life is built around followers, videos, apps, and photos. Her need to constantly be connected is a major sticking point for Remy. I loved the witty banter between them and how Sage wasn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with Remy. As they spend more time together they begin to realize there’s more than meets the eye and what follows is a steamy and swoon-worthy romance.

Lars, Jet, Rac, and Geno are incredible supporting characters who bring so much to the overall story. Their relationships with Remy and then Sage are essential to their ultimate survival.

Dark Haven by Brey Willows is an exquisitely written paranormal romance with two strong and intelligent mains and dynamic supporting characters. Every minute of this story is essential to the overall plot which is gripping and filled with so many important messages about love, loyalty, family, inclusion, and acceptance. The vampire-human world that’s been created here is different than any I’ve come across and I honestly couldn’t put it down. If you’re looking for a passionate vampire tale with characters you will fall in love with and a storyline that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then I highly recommend giving this one a whirl!

Brey Willows
Dark Haven
New Release

This book is truly a masterpiece of its own. It immerses readers into a captivating world where vampires and humans strive to coexist harmoniously, shedding light on the importance of creating an inclusive environment for both species. In many ways, it reminds me of the struggles faced by the LGBT community and their tireless fight for equality – the longing to marry their beloved, raise a family, and live free from the interference of those who hold different beliefs. I firmly believe that every individual deserves the right to live peacefully, chart their own path, marry the person they love, and fulfill their responsibilities, all while nurturing their children in a supportive atmosphere. No one should ever be stripped of their humanity or made to feel inferior simply because they are different or perceive the world differently.

This remarkable book takes hold of your imagination like nothing you've experienced before. The author skillfully weaves a tale that delves into the unique challenges and triumphs of the main characters, as well as the supporting cast who contribute to the intricate plot, leaving readers captivated and craving to discover where the author will take this extraordinary narrative. The protagonist, Remy, is an inspiring and courageous character who captivates readers with her forward-thinking mindset, as she endeavors to bridge the divide and forge a world where harmony reigns supreme. The author brilliantly portrays the obstacles faced by individuals who yearn for equal rights, much like the struggles faced by the LGBTIAQ+ community. Unfortunately, in today's world, differing opinions often erect barriers to achieving this harmony, which is truly disheartening. The advent of the Internet and the prevalence of cell phones have provided platforms for everyone to voice their opinions, leading some to believe that their beliefs hold superiority or are more important than others' desires for peaceful coexistence and love.

I highly recommend checking out this remarkable book, now available on Amazon KU! It is a captivating journey that will leave you enthralled. Additionally, I suggest exploring the publishing house's website, as they have released several delightful books this year that I have personally enjoyed. Their catalog of talented authors is definitely worth exploring.

I received an ARC of Dark Haven by Brey Willows . This novel was a surprise to me, it was easily one of the most enjoyable I’ve read this year. Great main characters with a fun supporting cast.

Vampires have come out, so to speak, where humans and vampires live together and have equal rights. They live together reasonably harmoniously, there’s even synthetic blood available in the supermarkets, apparently it comes in different degrees of quality as well!

Remy Winslow, a vampire, has established an off-grid community of vampires who want to live among their own kind instead of being in human society. She is the face of the vampires as she’s the one who fought on the political side to help achieve equality. To encourage understanding between humans and vampires an internet influencer, Sage Samara, is invited to spend a week in ‘Dark Haven’, the vampire community. She is upbeat, outgoing and positive a complete contrast to Remy. Sage is considered by some to be a bit of an airhead. Of course, being the only human in a group of vampires is quite a daunting prospect, as the thought of being someone’s next meal can be bit disconcerting. It also seems that not all vampires are happy to be living with the humans.

As always, opposite attract and the attraction between the main characters builds very nicely and is a joy to read. I thoroughly relished reading this novel, it’s just fun. There’s enough drama and suspense to keep you reading.

I usually judge a novel’s reading value as to whether I want to read the last chapter/epilogue or not before finishing it. I can say it didn’t cross my mind once to go for the last chapter as I was engrossed in the story line. I can highly recommend this one, go buy it, kindle it or whichever way consume your books. This was my first novel by Brey Willows, but I will go to explore her other novels now. Hopefully they will be good as this one!

This is not a genre I usually read and Brey Willows is a new author to me.

Brey Willows has established dynamic characters that integrate seamlessly together throughout the book! Brey has done a terrific job of bringing the events and characters “alive” throughout the book and the story is believably and interlaced with historical facts. I wonder how much research went into this book and how much was Brey’s ability to weave a gripping story that keeps you turning the pages.

As the story unfolds, Vampires and humans are living side by side in a small town. Remy has done a lot of work in the town that allows both humans and vampires to live side by side, but she hates being in the spotlight. She also runs an off grid community of vampires called Dark Haven Ranch and is the defacto leader of the vampire group.

Sage is an internet influencer with many followers and is looking forward to attending and interviewing many of the vampires at the Vampire News Conference, and also at Dark Haven ranch. She wants to cover their story to bring forth and change people’s opinions of vampires.

Most of the vampire community at Dark Haven, and in town, are not happy with a human being among them questioning their lives. Remy has her work cut out for her protecting Sage from becoming someone’s next “meal.”

A fight breaks out, a lockout is put in place and strange things begin to happen that affect Dark Haven and the town. Remy is worried about keeping Sage safe and finding out what is going on that is causing all these problems, as well as feral vampires In Dark Haven.

The journey is long and many centuries of thoughts and events are spoken about as Sage and Remy get closer. I had a suspicion of who was causing all of the events that were happening, but I wasn’t sure. The ending will surprise you!

I look forward to reading more from this author.

I don't often get a book hangover but with Dark Haven...it really hit me hard. I had to stop and think and just absorb the book before I could move on.

Remy Winslow is a vampire who has built a self-sufficient place for herself and other vampires to live. Sage Samara is a social media influencer who wants to show the world that vampires really aren't that bad.

This is the first Brey Willows book I've read and you can bet all of her other books are now on my TBR list. The writing was so smooth and pulled me into the world of Remy and Sage that it almost felt like I was there myself. The descriptions held me in the story in such a way that it felt real. The worldbuilding was incredible and the development of vampire abilities seemed realistic, despite you know, them being vampires.

At the beginning I kind of thought Sage was a little immature (and I don't really understand social media influencers haha) but as the story progressed and more of her real character came to light, I really enjoyed getting to know her, and not just the facade she puts on for her audience.
Remy, well...Remy is a powerhouse and so determined to make her world and her fellow vampires lives better. She's such a strong character and only gained strength as the story went on. She has to deal with those who want to spoil the fragile truce between vampire and human, while protecting Sage.

I really enjoyed the romance between Remy and Sage. Their attraction seemed so real and so precious as they each sought to be the best for each other and keep the other safe. In amongst all of the attraction and longing were some very...spicy times!

If you haven't read this book, please run and get it. I love a well-written vampire book and this definitely did not disappoint!

“Dark Haven” is an intriguing story with amazing characters, a unique plotline, and a fantastic happy ending. This is not your average vampire story. It’s about an off-grid vampire community living among humans peacefully with a romance theme. The vampires drink synthetic blood to stay healthy because they don’t want to return to their ancient bloodthirsty roots and wander the earth looking for fresh meals.

My favorite character was the vampire leader, Remy, who had arranged peace between vampires and humans. The twist is an age-gap romance that develops between Remy, who has centuries of wisdom (remember, vampires never die or age), and Sage, a young human woman who is an internet video blogger. Sage arrives in the vampire community to cover a vampire conference. Her main goal is to improve relations and show that vampires aren’t bad people.

I love how the story has undertones of what has happened in our history and sadly continues today regarding how to handle such difficult topics as racial prejudice. It also mirrors reality because not all vampires living outside the community can afford high-quality synthetic blood. Those heavy topics are brilliantly woven into the story by Brey Willows.

So, if you’d like a vampire read to sink your teeth into with a touch of reality, then I recommend “Dark Haven.”

Vampires have come out into the open, trying to live life as best they can. Sage Samara, Internet Influencer, throws herself into the middle of vampire society to show her support and that vampires aren't bad. They'd just like humans, after all. But things aren't all that they seem, with schemes simmering under the surface and about to go pear-shaped, and finding Remy more than a little hot, the vampire who got them their rights, is more than just an added complication.

I absolutely loved this book, right from the start till I finished the last page, disappointed that I had reached the end. It's the kind of vampire story that appeals to me, especially with the sizzling attraction between Sage and Remy that hints that perhaps there might be more to it.

The story is well written and engaging (I couldn't put it down and just kept reading), with plenty of plots going on and a healthy dose of action as well that all played out well, the world building is interesting and well done, the characters curious and likable, and the romance top-notch. There is a lot to learn about the characters, where they came from and what they can do, and it certainly adds to the tale. Having my favourite trope present as well is just an added bonus.

As I said, definitely the type of story that I love, and highly recommended.

Excellent vampire story

I love vampire stories, and when I saw the blurb, I knew I had to read this book. That was the right choice because the book is exceptional. I loved this book thoroughly! It is very well-written, it also had adventure, intrigue, romance, awesome characters, and the world-building is flawless. The storyline kept me totally involved. I felt like I was in the middle of the action.

I enjoyed this story greatly, and I loved the writing style of the author, the storyline was perfectly developed, and the character growth, as well as the descriptions, are something to look for. It is also fascinating that even when is paranormal fiction, it shows a realistic tale of modern life and actual problems, such as prejudice, in a very interesting way.

The writing is witty, and the chemistry between the two main characters is hot, absolute and undeniable. Entirely memorable, and I loved the ending.

Brey Willows did an outstanding job with this one. I will definitely put this one in the top three of my favourites in this genre.

I hope there will be a sequel because it is simply brilliant, and I’d love to see these characters in another book.

I highly recommend this book.

Remy is the deep, dark and brooding butch vampire with a heart of gold. Sage is the human media influencer with a positive attitude to just about everything. I initially found it difficult to see why serious Remy would be attracted to ultra-fluffy Sage, but Sage’s character did improve during the course of the book to be a bit more grown-up.
When a violent incident occurs and the government places the US into ‘lockdown’ Remy finds herself being forced into taking on the role of being Sage’s protector amongst the vampire masses. And being so close to each other sees the initial attraction grow…Meanwhile, someone is turning some vampires feral and dangerous and planning a revolt…
This latest from the author, whilst treading into vampire territory, is much more about learning to live together in peace than all the usual trauma of vampires killing and feeding on humans. There’s some of that but this is at its heart a romance more than a horror story. It lacked a tad in drama prior to the final showdown but was nevertheless an enjoyable read…

In a beautifully crafted world of vampires and human, is the Dark Haven Ranch. Remy Winslow runs Dark after bringing the vampires to life and creating harmony between them and humans. She retreated to running Dark Haven and along internet influencer Sage Samara who is fascinated by everything especially Remy. To go further would to spoil the intricate web connecting humans and vampires and the delicious romance. As mentioned the world building is superb. Remy is a complex woman who has been suffered but loves Sage deeply and passionately. Sage is pure delight and warms your heart just as much as Remy's. We can't praise this book highly enough. It has a fantastic paranormal romance with a twist when politics comes between humans and vampires, and one of best ever vampire/human couples and it's beautifully written.

This is the first book I have read by Brey Willows. But it definitely will not be my last. I have been reading a lot of vampire books this last year. And I loved this different take. They are still vampire as we know them. But I love Brey's view of them. Remy is a very old vampire. She got tired of all the running and changing. Remy brings vampires into the light. So to speak. Now, the whole word knows. But of course, not everyone is happy. Sage Samara is a human internet influencer with a huge following. Sage gets herself invited to Dark Haven, Remy's off the grid location for vampires. Brey weaves an exciting tale of intrigue, betrayal, violence, and hard choices. She keeps me guessing all the way through. All of her characters are well fleshed out and interesting. The storyline has a great flow that made it hard to take a break. If you like vampires, I highly recommend this book.

Overall, I like this, but there were a couple of things that kind of didn't work for me. One of the main characters I found to be very unlikable. Also, as I get older, my ability to entertain the idea of an immortal being pairing with a younger person diminishes. That aside, the general set up I found to be very interesting. Vampires are openly living among humans and even have their own county that many choose to reside in. There are vampire children, both turned and born, as well as vampire families. Most of the story focuses on Dark Haven, a specific off-the-grid settlement held within the main vampire county. There's a little bit of mystery and a little bit of politics plus some fighting and kissing--lots of fun things to get excited about in this book!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Disappointed isn't a strong word enough to explain how i feel about this book.

It had a great a start. And then I just kept getting annoyed. Annoyed most of all with Remy.Wth is wrong with her?Like I genuinely can't understand how did Sage develop even feelings towards her .And feelings is a strong word beacause what they had was simply lust.It wasn't love.Just lust ,they barley had any moments without arguments. And from the stupidest reasons. Like Remy couldn't even stand the idea that Sage had a different opinion about what family means to her,and made a lot of nonsense and almost a competition, and they were at the stage where supposedly are "in love" or something.

No romance between them.Remy was annoyed, I had a lot more fun from the side characters, and couldn't wait this book to end.

Lo acabo se terminar y son las 5 de la mañana, safe to say que me atrapo muchisimo! A ver: wlw, vampiros, conflicto politico, slow burn pero com spice? SIGN ME THE F UP!

me gusto tantooooooo! 4.5 ⭐️

Necesito que mas gente lo lea! y ahora quiero leer mas de la autora, que btw primer libro que leo de ella, fantastic experience

Brey Willows’ latest, Dark Haven, is a winner.
It’s about the bad blood (pun intended) that arises between vampires and humans when they’ve been trying to get along. Naturally, nothing goes to plan and the “stakes” are raised pretty quickly. The characters are well drawn, with some wonderful side characters too. Although Sage Samara was so ditsy and naïve to start off with, I could have shaken her!
Of course, because it is Brey Willows it is witty and has comments about current society and prejudice woven in so neatly in a beautifully written package. Normally the paranormal isn’t my bag, but I absolutely love this book.

This book is good and has a very twist on vampire society. The author gave a great world building in which it can pull you in. The main characters Sage and Remy are totally opposite from one another (New World vs. The Old World). But they come together and figure things out to see who is behind on causing the conflict between humans and vampires. And the support characters are good and interested too. The author could make a series about the vampires of Dark Haven. The author does put her twist about vampires that I thought were interesting and new. This is one of those books that you couldn't put down until you are finished. An excellent read!!!

You put a map on a book and I'm sold

Formidable, entertaining, sweet reading. I love me some OP characters and well Remy was definitely that, lots of depth to her and some of her folks. Sage on the other hand was a hard pill to swallow in a way, she made me cringe a lot with the valley girl or whatevs accent she uses that dropping the book actually crossed my mind, not just for that but because she showed a very shallow personality a first, in the typical "white saviour" style, but I didn't and was very glad because I'd miss on her growth and all the action stuff that happened afterwards.

I truly hope I can get to meet them again.
