The book is very well written and structured.
Characters are well described and psychologically relevant.
The story focuses on 2 characters, Sam and Kirsten, respectively a pledge and a sister (a junior) in a sorority dedicating its effort to empowering girls with dominant personalities based on sex. The sorority makes sure that pledges and novices experience submission in order to best open up to sexually intense practices. When becoming juniors, they learn about domination in supervising novices as "sisters", under the supervision of a senior who becomes the "Mistress" for both the junior and the novice. Mistresses set up the level of submission required from the pledges, novices, and sisters.
The story describes Sam's pledge week. Before her selection as a pledge, Sam experienced a life-changing abduction where she realized how much she sexually enjoys pain and submission. The story tells how she is driven towards submission by Kirsten, the sister, and Tami, their Mistress.
Kirsten also experienced the lifestyle during her noviciate, under their former Mistress Calli, a sadist who let Tami and Kirsten experience harsh submission and torture in the sorority dungeon. Kirsten has become a lot like Calli, and the book explains how much she learns about domination while she plays with Sam. Tami tries to mitigate Kirsten's impact on Sam, because she has understood that Sam will probably turn into a submissive plain slut who cannot eventually become a Mistress some day.
This is the main question inside the book, that is neither answered in the conclusion of volume 1 nor in the sequel with volume 2. There is no doubt that Sam has turned into a pain slut at the end of volume 1, and volume 2 confirms that she demands always increasing levels of pain, humiliation and submission in order to fullfil her urges.
This volume balances very well the sex scenes with the evolution of the psychology of characters. Graphic scenes are nicely written and presented, but they do never become the single purpose of the book. I strongly recommend it.
