Tachibana Higuchi (樋口 橘, HIGUCHI Tachibana), born 1976-03-16 , is a Japanese manga artist. In year 1996, she first made her debut work in Bessatsu Hana to Yume's 5th issue, entitled 5 Gatsu no Sakura (『5月のサクラ』?).

During an interview with Tokyopop, she gave a detailed account of how she started as a mangaka.

"I first submitted a manga story a while after I graduated from high school. Up until then I was studying for the entrance examinations for the Art University, and as part of that, I sometimes drew manga and four-panel strip comics for fun.

"Because I was conscious of the fact that I had started drawing manga in earnest at a later age, I think my progress during the beginning on drawing and storytelling techniques was fast as I frantically tried to absorb everything I could learn about creating manga. After the serialization of the story began, as I got busy, I was so desperate to submit it on time that I feel that the drawings probably haven’t improved much compared to before. During the serialization of the manga, I think my story telling techniques improved more as I concerned myself with how to catch the attention of the readers, how well one can incorporate what the readers are seeking into the story."

I came to these manga by the anime, having been introduced to the charming series by my boyfriend, who is always trying to broaden my anime-horizons (I'm not the biggest fan, to be honest, as most anime tends to be either too perverse or opaque for me. My manga experience has also been limited to, I'll admit, the entire run of SailorMoon, even when it got boring and stupid, and a copy of Dragonball Z here and there.) The Gakuen Alice series, of a 10 year-old girl whose love for her best friend has her running away from her country home to the big city, is smart and funny, bringing new life to the boarding-school/magical-kids genre. I'd been looking for the books for a while, and was gratified to find that the larger chain bookstores had recently begun carrying them (Vol 5 due out in December!) I wasn't entirely sure whether the anime had provided a faithful translation, and while there are differences, both versions of the story have proven very entertaining. The manga, in particular, is packed with funny little comments from the author: imagine Harry Potter with a dash of Gossip Girl snark. Overall, a lovely book that made me laugh out loud and tear up in a span of pages. Highly recommended.

Sigue muy bien, me encanta el ritmo que esta llevando la historia.

Era evidente que la Academia tenía un serio problema de abuso infantil, pero en este volumen se confirma en una magnitud mayor de la que hubiera imaginado; un dicho popular dice "el enemigo de mi enemigo es mi amigo", pero en esta ocasión no veo que se cumpla, si bien la organización que secuestro a Natsume dice ser enemiga de la Academia, sus métodos y lo que han dado a conocer de ellos hasta el momento, no los hace ver mejores que ellos, así que lo que les espera a los personajes es una situación compleja, ya que ni por un bando ni por el otro respetan su libertad.

La historia de Natsume fue mas cruel de lo que pude imaginar, si bien la historia empezó con toque muy infantil, según como avanza va tomando tonos muy oscuros, mi pobre niño, su situación es desgarradora.

Termina con los protagonistas en el hospital después de librarse del secuestro, así que ahora conociendo lo que vive Natsume y con las cartas sobre la mesa, queda ver que hacen.

Me sigue cayendo fatal el Reo ups. Las cosas han ido mucho más rápido de lo que me imaginaba again, not complaining tho. He de decir que no entiendo por qué en la serie no mencionaron el nombre de la organización mala (o al menos yo no lo recuerdo) así que realmente estoy haciendo bien en releer lo adaptado, porque si no seguramente después estaría muy perdida.
Btw lo de la información borrada hace 10 años... Tengo tantas ganas de saber que hizo la madre de la Mikan... (Si, estoy dando por hecho que es ella la chica de la que hablan con que el Alice de anulación).

Pěkná kresba, které se dá bohužel hodně věcí vytknout. Občas měly nějaké části těla divnou velikost, jež se prostě nedala přehlédnout, protože to bilo do očí. Také se zde vyskytoval výškový nepoměr mezi různými věkovými skupinami. Taktéž se mi zdálo mnoho postav velice vzhledově podobných, takže se pak hůře rozpoznávali a bylo jednoduché se v tom ztrácet. U tohohle mohu ale přimhouřit oči, jelikož tu bylo charakterů opravdu požehnaně. Abych tady nezmiňovala jenom zápory, tak musím říci, že se mi hodně líbily zjednodušené kresby, design školních uniforem a ostatního oblečení.

Příběh se mi líbil, a dokonce mě některé momenty dojaly až k slzám. Pomyslela jsem si, že je moc hezké vidět něco tak nezkaženého. S odstupem času jsem ale k celému ději o dost skeptičtější. A překvapilo mě, kolik vad jsem byla schopna nalézt. Avšak ještě divnější bylo, že jsem si příběh byla přesto schopna docela užít.

První vadou je věk postav. Nemyslím tím, že je špatné, že jim bylo okolo deseti, ale to, že na svůj věk byli v některých ohledech až moc vyspělí. Řekla bych, že většina ve všech ohledech, protože především hlavní hrdinka měla tendence se k někomu pořád lísat. A kdyby nebyla tak nízcí, klidně bych prohlásila, že jsou na střední škole. Především když vezmu to, jak byli Mikan a Natsume pokročilý ve svém vztahu. Jako neřekla bych, že vášnivé líbání patří k desetiletým dětem. Ke všemu když se ani šesnáctiletí (nebo kolik jim bylo :D) nedostali tak daleko.

Dalším mínusem byla až přílišná zamotanost příběhu. Což bych nebrala obvykle jako vadu, ale tady to bylo až přespříliš. Začalo to někdy za dvacátou kapitolou. Od té doby jsem byla mnohokrát zmatená a nevěděla jsem, o co jde. Když k tomu navíc připočítáme to, jak moc si jednotlivé postavy byly podobné. A za druhé mě to ani nezajímalo, jelikož nějaký svůj příběh měl skoro každý. To je normálně dobrá věc, neboť to dodává příběhu na důvěryhodnosti. Tady to akorát zbytečně natahovalo příběh o nezajímavé informace o nudný charakterech, a když vezmete v úvahu počet postav... Je to pak úmorné.

Vadou číslo 3 jsou nezajímavé postavy, když nepočítám tedy ty hlavní, ty jsem si velice oblíbila. Ale ostatní mi byli úplně ukradení, a tak jsem přímo trpěla, když se tam objevovaly bubliny se strašně dlouhým textem. Ke všemu když se tam akorát řešily vztahy a jejich zamotanost. Tenhle a tamten miloval támhletu, ta milovalo tamtoho a tak dále. Tím se potom tak nějak vyřešilo všechno, což bylo dost neuvěřitelné. Ta láska se objevovala vážně všude, až to začínalo být nesnesitelné, jelikož nemůže být příčinou a průvodcem všech událostí.

Poslední výrazné mínus je, že nikdo nebyl ve skutečnosti zápornou postavou. Ze všech záporných postav se staly kladné, a nebo byly ukázány hrozně moc dobré "důvody," proč tomu tak je. Pokud teda nebudeme brát jako záporáky ty lidi, kteří stojí za Alice's Academy, neboť ti jediný byli zlí, neboť děti v ní vlastně uvěznili. Ale jelikož ani jeden z nich nebyl ukázán, tak se to nedá počítat.

Výše uvedená věc mi opravdu vadila. Vážně nemám ráda, takhle zkažený lidi, co myslí jen na sebe a na to, jak získat, co nejvíce peněz. Také si mi nelíbí to, jak ostatními opovrhují. Nechápu, proč jim ani nedovolili se vídat se svými rodiči. Jsem překvapená, že už dávno neudělali převrat. Protože bojovat proti zlu zevnitř, většinou moc nefunguje.

Abych jen příběhu něco nevytýkala, tak sem napíšu i nějaké klady. Nebo se o to aspoň pokusím. :D Největší plus bylo působení některých situací na mé emoce. Někdy v průběhu jsem byla opravdu emotivní, dokonce jsem uronila i pár slz. A u scének s Mikan a Natsumem jsem se culila jak malá holka. :D Pár věcí mě tu i pobavilo. A nic dalšího mě nenapadá. Ups...

Konec mi nijak zvlášť radost neudělal, jelikož je tam spoustu nelogických věcí, což mě štve. A celkově mi to přišlo celé divné

Anglické obálky se mi líbí o dost více než ty japonské. Vypadají víc elegantně a vznešeně. Na některých obálkách se mi ale nelíbí kresba postav/y.

Five Stars.
The story picks up again in this volume, and we get more of one of my favorite characters: Natsume. This volume is the first big/intense plot moment, where the gang has to go against the villain organization Z. Again I love the characters and the developing relationships. Higuchi-Sensei, really wanted to focus on family/love/friendship but also senpai/kohai relationships, which is what I love about this series. There are a lot of characters, but I love them all. I love Mikan and her gang, and while she may be the steryoticpal stupid/happy-go-lucky shojou heroine, this story and Mikan are endearing, unique, and a joy to read. Love this world and the characters so much.

Mikan finally got 1 star - maybe because she become hero n useful for saving natsume from reo n his bodyguard who tried to kidnap them. Perm girl too is a hero n try to look for help all the way.Narumi sensei - u are my fav teacher - giving Mikan 1 star. Mikan earned it n finally she got 1 star room - got upgraded her allowances n the meal =)

Central Town dans le 3e Tome apporte une profondeur de plus à l'univers, qui m'a l'air pas mal vaste. Les intrigues s'accumulent, comme j'ai déjà 14 tomes sur 31 et même si je me décourage face à ce gros nombre, je vais tenir bon et lire la suite. On verra bien mais j'ai bon espoir !

Horrible. I read this long time ago and yet I was surprised about what happened. I cannot forgive them for what they've done to Natsume nor what they wanted to do with the girls. This is the kind of emotional development I was waiting for. I don't think I am prepared for the rest of the story, I haven't read this far in the past. I'm entering new territory 🙃🙃

On a enfin une vraie petite aventure et on découvre davantage d'enjeux de l'académie ! C'était un tome prenant et prometteur pour la suite.
Cependant, j'aimerais qu'on questionne davantage le système de classement des enfants plutôt que de faire grimper les échelons à Mikan...

Contains Chapters 11 - 16: This is a really fun volume. I'm the beginning of the volume Mikan learns about the upcoming school festival and then her and several of her friends go to Central Town. Then Natsume is sick in the campus hospital when a celebrity alumni visits who turns out to be working with an organization that is against the academy and they kidnap Natsume with Mikan and Sumire as witnesses who follow after them to rescue Natsume leaving Hotaru and Luca to explain things to the teachers.

This volume corresponds with episodes 10, 12, 13, 14, & 15 of the anime series.

Love this series. The way Mikan wants to help everyone but yet she is also a little bit selfish. I am enjoying that each series comes up with a different adventure, within the class and what she has to go through. The President Yuu is so cute always being there for her, and her friend Hotaru cracks me up. Of course I love Natsume because he is the cranky character and always getting into troubhle and I like his friend Luca who cares about Natsume and animals. In this volume Natsume is taken away by some group. Mikan and Sumire try to follow and rescue him. In this volume you learn more about Natsume and Sumire. You even learn what Sumire special ability is. This is such a cute story I enjoy it.

What begins as Hogawarts-Hogsmeade crossed with standard Cultural Festival fare, enables Tachibana Higuchi to expand upon her world by introducing the forces that prey upon the Alices.

It gives the reader the opportunity to question some of their earlier concepts and develop alternative ideas to the real story.

I tend to be a sucker for these kinds of stories, where characters are given the opportunity to risk themselves for the sake of others, and this one is no exception. I still can't call it good, but I am entertained.

Eine meiner absolut liebsten Manga-Reihen, weil es nicht nur einen tollen Spannungsbogen besitzt, sondern weil die Charaktere sich auch Band um Band weiter entwickeln. Erwachsen werden, dazu lernen. Super schön dargestellt und wirklich angenehmer Zeichenstil. Inzwischen gibts auch einen Anime dazu, der aber im Vergleich zum Manga nicht so gut geworden ist und einen eher älteren Eindruck macht obwohl Alice Academy ein aktueller Manga ist.
