Dr. Harry Kraus does his usual amazing job of blending mystery and medical drama, and even threw in a little romance and suspense this time. As good as this is, I must issue a caution: Due to adult subject matter and graphic medical depictions, For the Rest of My Life is not for kids or young teens. Parents will probably want to "screen" this novel before handing it to their kids.

Marriage is an invitation to come and die.

Wait, long enough past each mistake to laugh, and then you’ll have the perspective to act without reacting.

I’m a realist, Claire. Pain is a part of life. We all have it, and one form or another. It helps us grow. In some way we don’t understand, it works out for good, for God‘s glory, but no, none of us would choose it

Knowing is better than fear of the unknown.

A real page-turner

After reading the first book in this series, “Could I Have This Dance” I immediately purchased the second, “For the Rest of My Life.” Like the first, it is a page-turner and I didn’t want to put it down. I gave it four stars instead of five because I felt the story was a little too medically graphic in a few places. I was drawn to this series due to a rare genetic disease that is the basis of this story. I recommend reading this series in order to understand the storyline.

3.5 stars. This novel deals with a genetic disease and the heartache of deciding whether or not you want to know if you carry the gene for it. Law enforcement is also trying to solve a series of crimes being committed in Stoney Creek. I found the information on Huntington’s Disease fascinating, and you could definitely tell it was written by a doctor who understood the symptoms and ramifications of it. Some of the other story lines weren’t quite as well written.

A great sequel!

I would definitely recommend this series of books! If you love Christian fiction with a medical flare and lots of suspense, these books are for you. I love the way the author intermingles the characters and their faith in God.

A wonderful story of a doctor who is trying to help out a small town who is finding out that she might have the gene for Huntington's disease. Is it better to know or is it better to simply live as best you can with what comes your way? I'm not sure.

This was a library sale book. There were quite a few printing errors. Maybe unedited draft. I did learn a lot about an inherited disease that I can't spell. The plot was thin and boring. The minor characters seemed unrealistic. I did like the concept of the lady doctor being strong and in charge.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I liked it, but can't actually say that I loved it. I reread the first one and then went right into the this one and I think it may have made the descriptions of Huntington's Disease a little more uninteresting as it had already been described in the first book; however, I do understand that the author needs to make each book a 'stand-alone' on it's own for readers who may not have read the one before or after.

I also found the 'off again, on again' relationship between Claire and John a little tiresome for adults in their 30's or close to that age and their reactions to each other often seemed immature and too much like a teenager. The story did have a certain amount of mystery to it which I liked and even though I figured out who the 'bad guy' was well before the revealing chapter came up, I still was unsure whether Claire was going to test negative or positive and the author did a great job of keeping this aspect of the mystery secret to the end, and also the outcome of the relationship between Claire and John. Without revealing any of the story, I think there

The book overall was very well written and I enjoyed the medical and hospital aspects of it. Without revealing any of the story, I think there were some incidents that could have been dealt by using a little more sensitivity by Claire, the attending doctor (and hence, by the author), and anyone who had endured such an incident might find it difficult to read.

I think the story would be useful reading for those affected by Huntington's but would also be heart wrenching. Thanks to the author for dealing with this disease in such a comprehensive way.

For the Rest of my Life is the sequel to the bestselling novel Could I Have This Dance by Harry Lee Kraus, MD is a fantastic read. It didn’t disappoint me and often second books do.
I really wanted to find out if Claire had the gene for the Huntington’s Disease that was passed down from generation to generation and got to find that out.
Also I loved all of the new cases Claire had in her doctors office that she is now working as a LMD-local medical doctor. This book has the same major characters, but has many new and interesting characters.
We see in this book how Claire grows closer to the Lord and how she and John get reacquainted again. Claire has many problems and they just seem to grow and grow.
The author really did a good job with hiding the rapist from everyone. He had me believing two others could fit in the category to be the likely person, but I actually did choose the right one.
I love how this story was put together and really look forward to the next book. Harry Kraus, MD is an excellent author and one of my new favorites.

Claire has begun seeing patients and taking over the practice in Fisher's Retreat. Someone keeps violently raping the women of the community after surgery. Mystery, peril, and romance all rolled together along with Biblical references makes for a great read. Revisit the characters from The Chairman and get a glimpse of their lives.

This is the 2nd in a trilogy that followed Can I Have this Dance. This was great, after a slower start than I normally like, but by the end I could not put it down. This follows a Dr. who has to decide if she wants to have the test for the Huntington Disease gene and asks lots of good questions with faith figured in. Are we supposed to know the future? Can't wait to read #3!!

An entertaining & rivoting sequel! The only complaint I have is that the author didn't really finalize Lena & Billy Ray's story, so I will have to give it 4 stars instead of five. But I am still excited for book three in the series.

I was disappointed in this book, there was a lot of repetition on one of the topics that was not even associated with the main topic or main character. I do miss the setting in the hospital, when the main character was a resident.

Poor Claire just can't seem to catch a break. It is one disaster after another, but yet she manages to stay positive through it all. Enjoyed the second Claire McCall book and can't wait to see what adventures come next for this family.

This is a continuation of Claire McCall's life. She decides what she is going to do with her life after a tragic event in her life. I do not want to spoil what happens, but another great story.
