After a lifetime of unsuccessful attempts, Hope Matthews may have finally found a way to escape her undead pirate guardian. That is, if she can make sense of the map her foster father left behind and locate the legendary amulet, Poseidon's Tear before her demonic pursuer finds her and drags her back to to his lair.
Im a self made IT geek, single parent and reformed RPG/gaming junkie living in the rolling hills of upstate NY (you know-where you can smell cows and it takes a ten minute drive to buy a gallon of milk).
When I am not at work with my head buried in a PC, I am at home or camp with my nose buried in a laptop writing.
** I didn't write Full Circle Home or Soul's Road, but no matter how many times I ask for them to be removed from "my books", they still show up. **
Another short-story freebie I found on Amazon. I'd heard Rebecca Hart's name in the past (can't remember where) so decided to give this one a try.
The writing was okay and the beginning paragraph very interesting. I quickly came to realize this wasn't a normal "pirate's tale". It reminded me more of Pirate's of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. It was interesting, that's for sure, and I liked the strength that you saw in Hope. But there were just so many questions that left me wondering at the end--such as why only one pirate is "undead", and why he is a demon, and how she found out about Poseidon's Tear, how she found out it would work on the undead demon pirate, and WHERE she found that lead her to the tear.
All in all, it only took me 15 minutes to read, so it wasn't like I wasted many hours. And it IS a short story, so I understand not everything can be explained. I enjoyed it while I read it and thought it was an interesting twist to the Pirate's of the Caribbean.
This was a relatively short story with lots to say and quick character development. Of course like all short story you always desire more but this one had everything for a great sea adventure.
Great short story, she got me hooked and I had to move on to her next book right away, call of the sea. I'd love to have her write some stories about harem girls next! Fun, exciting short read
