When her sister is left at the altar at her destination wedding, Deanna Riley hunts down the groom—her long time friend Nick Wallace—to give him a piece of her mind. She has no idea what excuses or explanations to expect, but the last thing she expects is to sympathize with him once he tells his side of the story.
Actually, no. The last thing she expects is for the conversation to turn into…more than a conversation. And if there’s anything the heartbroken, jilted bride doesn’t need, it’s a fling between her sister and would-be husband.
Now Nick and Deanna are desperate to atone for what they’ve done, but even as they struggle to patch things up with Deanna’s sister, they can’t deny that the unexpected night on the beach ignited a flame that refuses to die…
Quick read. I liked the characters and the story premise was interesting take on dealing with a wedding that doesn't go as planned and cleaning up the after effects. Plus newfound burgeoning feeling erupting between the groom-to-be and almost sister-in-law and best friend. A very messy way to start a potential romance but an enjoyable read nonetheless. I felt all three characters handle the fallout as I would expect however, I wish the story (the romance between Nick and Deeana sis of the jilted bride, didn't feel so rushed). How did both families react to this new relationship revealed and healed from the relationship the wasn't? A few extra chapters was needed to flesh out how the two of them navigated the fallout and new romance and could have helped the story flow better.

I really enjoyed Ms. Gallagher's Damaged Goods and was anxious to try more of her work, and what a little gem this book turned out to be! I didn't know what to expect, but after reading the first few pages I was hooked and ended up finishing it in one sitting.
The best thing I liked about this book were the characters. They were human and they messed up, but they didn't blame others for their faults. They took responsibility and made things right.
Great read for such a short book but my main issue was the ending was too darn short. Everything else was drawn out and written beautifully but the ending was too short.
