Sex in the contract – it’s the only way super-focused, over-worked CEO, Ellison Thorne, is ever going to get laid. That’s what his retiring business partner and secret match-maker, Beverly Neumann, thinks. She’s convinced no-strings, stress-free sex in certain employee contracts would raise productivity and minimize stress — perfect for a busy executive like Ellis. But she’s joking, right?
Enter her hand-picked replacement, Dee Henning. Young, hungry, gifted, Dee is the queen of no time for sex. When negotiations on a major project break down, and Dee and Ellis end up in each other’s arms, the Executive Sex Clause suddenly becomes more than a joke. In fact hot executive sex just might be the ultimate secret weapon for success. But secrets seldom remain secret, and Dee and Ellis soon learn there’s no such thing as no-strings where the heart is concerned.
Grace Marshall lives in South England with her husband and the growing gang of hooligan birds who frequent their feeders. When Grace isn’t busy writing something sexy and romantic, she’s busy digging in her ever-expanding veg garden or walking across the British countryside. She finds inspiration outdoors in nature, and most of her best story ideas come to her while she’s walking or gardening.
Grace is the author of the fast paced, quirky Executive Decisions Trilogy published by Xcite Romance. An Executive Decision, Identity Crisis, The Exhibition are all available.
Grace Marshall’s alter-ego, K D Grace, writes critically acclaimed, best-selling erotic romance. Whether it’s sexy romance or romantic sex, between The Graces, there’s a story for you.
This is a must read romance novel. Ms. Marshall is an excellent writer who infuses her stories with strong emotions. I have no idea why I waited so long to read An Executive Decision. That is a bad decision on my part. I did read this series out of order. I read book two first. After reading that story, I was so intrigued I needed to read the first. I am so glad I read this book. I would have missed out on a wonderful contemporary romance.
Contemporary romance is generally not a genre I read because it doesn't translate well to me. Most of the time, the stories are romantic fantasies which makes my eyes roll. The characters are usually shallow and completely out of touch with reality. Those books are great for escapism; I just read other genres for my escapism.
The differences with Ms. Marshall's contemporary pieces is the character and world building. Ms. Marshall breathes life into her character with conflicts and problems I can understand and sympathize. The fears Dee Henning experiences as an executive assistant to Ellison Thorne are very real. I can relate which pulls me into this story deeper. I'm vested in the outcome. Dee is a female character I admire. Ms. Marshall also creates a desirable male lead. Ellison is a man I can respect and admire. He makes mistakes and pays for it. It's nice how Ms. Marshall doesn't gloss over it.
Beyond the character building, this story is really something I enjoy. I love stories which feature businesses with the idealistic mission and vision of Penuma Inc. The underlying theme of this story which is do no harm is something which makes me smile. The way Ellis and Dee fight against injustice is admirable and enjoyable. It's a message of hope and what we can all aspire towards.
The sex scenes in this story are sweet. The hawt factor comes in because they are boss and subordinate. The whole executive sex clause is amusing for me. Ms. Marshall's timing for her humour is spot on. The sex isn't overly graphic and definitely not what I consider kinky. It's not even a sexual harassment suit waiting to happen. This sexy sweet romance novel is highly recommended to those who enjoy a good plot and great characters.

Story: GOOD Intimacy Level: GOOD Enjoyment: FAIR Length: 3881 kindle / 271 pages
I had high expectations for this story, which I liked the storyline, however, I felt maybe my expectations were too high. As an erotica fan, this book is listed as an erotica romance, but for me, it didn't feel erotica enough. Now, not to discourage other readers, there was physical interaction between Dee and Ellis, but for me it wasn't enough or intense enough.
Dee Henning is working hard to one day work along side well known CEO, Ellison Thorne. But when that day came sooner rather than later, she finds herself thinking about him, as he is thinking of Dee also. Both Dee and Ellis has something in common, they work hard but has no room to have fun.Which brings us to the Executive Sex Clause, which is suppose to be a joke, but takes on a life of its own that also leads to a misunderstandings. The Executive Sex Clause is jokingly suggested to have executives have fun and release sexual tension from work. As this will be a trilogy, this book was focus on the building of the plot, characters and whose who within the firm. In the beginning, I thought Dee and Ellis's relationship was taking a bit too long to develop, and once it was developing, I didn't get much from them.
The other supporting characters made for an interesting storyline as well as lies and jealously takes hold of a few. Again, for me, interesting concept and I'm not a fan of the erotica aspect, as it wasn't enough for me. I needed more with more intensity.
I really didn't know what to expect from the NEW romantic Grace Marshall, I do love my full on erotica, I also love a brilliant storyline and plot, but I have to admit I didn't even notice it was more of a romance novel, the plot was so fast paced I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, I was completely immersed in the characters.
Dee Henning experienced at her job gets offered a life changing dream job when her colleague and friend gets accidentally killed while on holiday. Beverley Neumann will never know what she has started with her last email to her Boss CEO of Pneuma Inc Ellis Thorne as his personal secretary for many years. Beverley insisted he hired Dee knowing how good she is at her job; but most of all knowing her friend fancied the socks off him. The Executive Sex Clause a private joke between Beverley and Ellis, would Ellis actually enlist the ESC between him and Dee like Beverley suggested, it seemed a great idea; helping relieve tension between them with no strings attached. Less sick days, boost creativity, therefore increasing productivity between people working so closely together; where there is often alot of sexual tension. A great sexy idea in theory but could it actually work in the real workplace? Can you ignore feelings, emotions and the heart and what happens if one person or both fall for each other; no longer the clause but just pure lust and passion. Is that all I hear you say... Hell no this is just for starters.
This fantastic read includes Pneuma Inc wanting to save the forests and fighting adversity with outside deception. Workaholic Dee, heart of gold and with best friends alongside her fights against a traitor within Pneuma Inc; wanting nothing better than to take Dee's job and undermine her creativity in the eyes of Ellis. Will Ellis believe this traitor, can Dee save the day, and can Ellis win his girl...?
I loved this book it had such a great plot, with so many ongoing factors; I found both Ellis and Dee so relatable and each character within so believable. It took me a while to warm to Ellis though as I felt he was way too hard on Dee.
I found Grace AKA KD has this amazing knack of creating sexual tension not just through a few pages, but the whole damn book ending in incredible sex. This new trilogy is slightly more romantic and vanilla than our erotic KD Grace but believe me you get carried along by such a great storyline you will not even notice; sex can be just as hot even in vanilla standards. This is a brilliant read and fantastic 1st book as Grace Marshall. I cant wait for the next two.
An Erotic Romance to set the heart a flutter toss in a bit of steam and some suspense and you have yourself a great read.

My Throughts:
Read this with a group of people on Gotta Have Paranormal Romance with a Kick as an example of Erotic Romance vs Erotica. This is truly an erotic Romance. The story is well written with some suspense and an evil co worker. The attraction is there simmering away. The secondary characters are a great support to the MC. Ellis and Dee are written to be likable and high powered business people and that definitely came threw. We saw softening on Dee's part but didn't completely feel it from Ellis till perhaps right at the end. I would like to have seen him acknowledge that some of his feelings for Dee were unusual for him and he felt protective and different about her. We got the jealously but very little else. The end of the book felt a bit rushed another 5 pages would have been better wrapping it up there were a few characters that time was spent on but I'm not sure exactly why as they were not really of any consequence other than to drive the story in a certain direction and that could have been done with fewer characters. Over all I really enjoyed this story and will definitely keep an eye out for the next book in the series. If you enjoy a great romantic read with a little and I mean a little steam ...that being said the love scene near the end was HAWT! ...then this book is for you...On sale at Amazon now...don't miss it!
3.5 Stars for this book that I rounded it up to 4 as I really liked it more then thought it was ok..give it a shot you will enjoy it.
We are constantly in search of new reads and there is nothing better than finding a read that ends up being AMAZING. That is what An Executive Decision by Grace Marshall, is for me.
An Executive Decision is the whole package! An easy read that just flows from its pages. I absolutely loved the storyline, thought it was very original and well-developed. I couldn’t put it down! The characters were brilliant! I found them to be strong, well-developed and lovable. Finally, An Executive Decision is HOT (warm you up on a cold fall evening HOT) Us Flirty and Dirty girls loves us a HOT read and An Executive Decision will not disappoint I am so excited that this is Part #1 of a trilogy, I can’t wait to read the next installment.
If you a looking for a HOT romance that you won’t be able to put down?? Look no further, An Executive Decision is your next read! N. 5/5
Wow! I almost DNF'd this book, but I sucked it up anyway & kept going. However, it took me waaayyyy longer to finish it than it normally does. The only thing that got me through was I wanted to see what that disgruntled secretary was going to do next & how she was going to figure out what the ESC was. I realize that I am in the minority about my rating & feelings about this book, but it just didn't keep my interest. The almost anxious feeling that I get to finish a book because I just have to know what happens next, just didnt come to me... I wanted it to & I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't. This doesn't mean that others won't absolutely enjoy this novel... Obviously, with the high ratings this book has received, that seems to be the case with most readers. I hate ratings less than 4 stars, but I just couldn't figure out how to get it there.
An Executive Decision, the first in a trilogy by Romance author Grace Marshall (aka Kd Grace) is one very hot love story. Both the workplace and sexual tension between the leading characters, Ellis Thorne and Dee Henning, in An Executive Decision is almost palpable as the story line unfurls- and I confess to reading each page faster and faster in order to find out what was going to happen next! The sex scenes are brilliantly written- my particular favourite being, what I shall always think of as ‘the lift scene’... So, if you like a really good romance, with a plot that twists and turns, and sizzling sex scenes, then An Executive Decision is a must read.
Definitely won't be reading again. A little too annoying, ended up skimming through a lot of it since it was the same thing being said and done over and over again. Disappointing read. :(
I've never read any of KD books. I don't know how I missed any. It's great! I can tell you it won't be the last! Did I mention it's a really great book?? It has all of what I look for in my books! All I can say, without giving away anything important is book book is awesome!! Get now!! You won't regret it!
Grace Marshall is the hot romance writing alter ego of erotic romance writer K D Grace. However, this book is so hot that I'm still reviewing it here.
An Executive Decision is the first book in the Executive Decisions trilogy from Xcite Books. It introduces us to high powered, successful CEO Ellison Thorne, one of a triad that runs Pneuma, Inc. His success has a price - no sex life, and certainly no romance. It's something his executive assistant, Beverly, mentions frequently. For this reason, she wants Ellison - more often known as Ellis - to implement the Executive Sex Clause when she retires. That is, when Beverly's replacement is hired - and Beverly has someone very much in mind - the clause means that Ellis and the new executive should have no-strings sex whenever they like, to help them stay focussed on their jobs, keep them sharp.
Ellis laughs this off constantly, but when the time comes and Dee Henning is hired, Ellis starts to think Beverly might have been right. Dee is gorgeous, sexy and incredibly hard-working. She too has very little time for sex - so will the ESC help both of them to keep Pneuma, Inc. at the top of its game? But what would happen if the clause became public knowledge?
An Executive Decision is a brilliant first novel from Grace Marshall. As someone that's familiar with K D Grace's work, there's a marked difference between the heat levels, but the writing style is still recognisable, and still excellent. This book has a pretty hefty plot, even without the Executive Sex Clause, and therefore the sex is dotted throughout the storyline, but doesn't make up a massive part of it. The storyline has a great blend between the romance and the other plot elements, and each of the elements combines to make this a real page-turner. Despite its whopping word count, I whizzed through this in a couple of days, and am looking forward to the next book.
I have to tell you I adored Executive Decision. I have read Grace Marshall before under her pen name KD Grace in which she writes scorching hot erotica, so I was really wondering if she could pull of a Contemporary Romance. I don’t know why I even questioned it, because whatever name she pens her novels under, they are awesome!
I love a good forbidden romance; whether it be office, student/teacher or just the taboo kind and Executive Decision is the story of the office romance between Ellis Thorne and Dee Henning. The premise of the story is that if Ellis drafts the Executive Sex Clause in his hiring package for Dee, than they can have sex whenever they are in the work environment barring that Dee goes for it. Well in the fantasy literary world, who wouldn’t sign it….I mean no strings attached sex with your smoking hot boss who happens to be one of your professional idols….I would be first in line to be signed up! So as Dee and Ellis navigate their way through their work relationship and implement the Executive Sex Clause, things really begin to heat up.
Probably my favorite thing about Executive Decision is the background story of the Pneuma, Inc. and all the characters that play a supporting role to Ellis and Dee. I was so captivated by all of the daily conversations about work and proposals and watching them go after prospective clients. There was a bit of corporate espionage going on and I just soaked it up. The angst between all of the characters was really riveting yet not enough to turn you off. I loved watching Karma come back and bite the asses of some people.
Executive Decision had an incredible plot. Grace Marshall really did her research on the corporate ins and outs and the story just seemed very real, even if the Executive Sex Clause really doesn’t exist. I loved the journey of Ellis and Dee….watching their love story unfold was just so much fun to see, even if it seemed like there were so many outside factors pulling them apart. Executive Decision is book one in a three part series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next story!
WOWZA!! I have just been on a rollercoaster in the business world of Pneuma Inc. Ellis Thorne is the CEO. Picture this, tall, handsome features, hard as stone body, looks impeccable in a suit, sexy glasses that shift down his nose sometimes, intelligent business man with no sex life. OMG!! I know but who has time for sex when he's so busy running his company and he's all for the environment. The man is a God. His right hand woman Beverly Neumann keeps his life in order at the office and bless her heart really tries for him to have some kind of life but the man just won't settle down. She comes up with this secret weapon called ESC. What is that? well dear readers to find out you must read. Beverly wants to retire, she is not getting any younger and insists he finds someone new. She has the perfect woman to take over. Ellis has no choice but to hire someone when something terrible happens. He is at a loss, poor man looks like he hasn't slept in years. Hello Dee Henning, she is a smart savvy business woman, who is a head hunter and very good at it. When she is offered a job at Pneuma Inc she is beyond excited, its her dream job. Unfortunately not everyone is happy about her becoming the new executive assistant. Welcome spiteful, selfish, cold hearted Tally Barnes. Let me tell you this author has written Tally's character exceptionally well because by God I hated this woman. Dee more than proves she is up for the job but when someone is out to ruin you it makes things very difficult. Ellis and Dee work along side each other very well, they have a mutual understanding, meaning ESC. This book has took my breathe away. I always think no one can top the last book I read but this book is outstanding. I can't wait to start book 2.
I wanted to love this book, I also wanted to finish reading it, but I just couldn't bring myself to do either. Everything about it is bad, in my very humble opinion.
Their first sexual encounter felt out of place and too abrupt to be (a) believable and (b) exciting (as in, getting me all turned on). There was no chemistry between the main characters up until then as it happened so soon and, obviously, no building of anticipation whatsoever. The whole scene is over in all but two pages and then you learn that Ellis has fantasized about Dee ever since - wait for it - he saw her picture in a file. How much more unrealistic could this story even become?
And then there's the writing.
“He smelled like outside. There was no distance between them, and dear God, he smelled like outside.” What the heck?
“It made her insides feel like warm honey.” Warm honey, really?
“That he and Dee might satisfy each other’s junk” ... I have no comment on this one.
This book was also full of grammatical errors. And you know it's bad when I, of all people, can actually spot them since English isn't even my first language.
Speaking of first language, the author wrote: “à Dee, de Jason avec l’amour.” This should have read "à Dee, de Jason, avec amour". I hate when authors write in another language and make mistakes. Couldn't you find an online forum where you could have asked others to translate that tiny bit of text for you? It just infuriates me, it's a big pet peeve of mine.
Anyway. There's no need to keep wasting time reviewing this book. I wasted enough reading the first half of it. Big. Big disappointment.
This is one of the MOST BORING EROTIC novels I've ever read. It lacks steam and intensity. The story just revolves around about the company, business, blah blah blah...whatever.
To add, Dee was an ambitious woman, she was portrayed to be intelligent but for all the intelligence in the world she still chose to have an interlude with Jason who was divorced with 2 daughters in college (imagine how old he is) then she told him that she does not want that extra baggage and I was like "You only thought of that now? Any man/woman who had divorced especially with kids comes with an EXTRA LARGE BAGGAGE". She always wanted Ellis, and Ellis warned her about Jason's interest and she still did it..what is she? Yes, a BIG FAT SLUTTY LIAR.
Aside from her, there were 2 annoying unnecessary characters, Stacie and Garrett. They're like a trash bin that the author just uses to throw in some desperate ploys to make the story interesting and dramatic..but it was too obvious, didn't work for me. I know there are characters asigned to cause rifts and problems but these characters cause ALL of the STUPID THINGS that happened. What's more is that they did it UNINTENTIONALLY and originally wanted to make things right but ALWAYS THEY FAIL MISERABLY...ALL THE TIME. Totally scripted.
If you still want to read this, then, you'll be wasting a lot of time. Might as well sleep.
I have to say that at first I was a bit dubious about the basic story line of this book. A powerful CEO, implements the "Executive Sex Clause" with his new executive assistant - which basically means that they have sex because he doesn't have time for a relationship. But, I was pleasantly surprised! Ellison Thorne is your typical rich, gorgeous, and horny alpha male. Dee Henning is a beautiful, feisty female with a brain and a healthy bank balance. I loved the instant connection with Ellis and Dee. There was no hesitation or denying their attraction, the ESC was put in place, and the hot sex starts as soon as the story does. The plot follows not only the relationship of the two main characters, but also their business deals and the underhand tactics of Tally Barnes. Tally is a woman scorned - not out of love, although it's clear she fancies Ellis, but because Dee was given a job that Tally thinks should have been hers. Anyone who likes a hot, sexy romance with plenty of action and intrigue should certainly pick this book up and give it a go. I'm giving this four stars because it was a great story and well-written, but it wasn't one that I had to read in one go. I was able to put it down and walk away for several days. However, I will most definitely be starting on the second book, Identity Crisis, tonight.
Ellis is the owner of Pneuma Inc. and needs a new executive assistant due to his current one retiring. However, before Beverly retires she recommends her friend Dee who is not only attractive but successful as well, as an assistant and urges Ellis to include an ESC in the contract. Tally works for the company and is expecting Beverly’s position once she retires but when Dee is chosen for the job Tally tries to scheme her way back into the position. Tally joins forces with the company’s rival but her revenge to get the position costs her more than she ever bargained for and she bits off more than she can chew. Ellis and Dee’s personal relationship and contract becomes public leaving them to admit something they denied. An executive decision was a great read and I finished the book in one day. There are still unanswered questions and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read filled with suspense, betrayal, romance and steamy sex scenes.
Sex is sometimes complicated as is love and this book captures the raw essence of the passion that can ensue. The burning under-current of the characters emotions, when they seem oblivious are clearly seen.
I found it very easy to relate to the characters despite having very little in common with them. The writing style differs greatly from another book by this author that I have read but that is simply because there is a bigger concentration on the romance in addition to the erotica.
The plot is simple yet sufficient for the story and as this is first in a trilogy I will be interested to see where the other books lead the characters. The book leaves you thinking about which character you most relate to and which one was your favourite.
There was more than one part of the book where I needed either a tissue for my tears of soppiness or a moment to remember to breathe. Good to read it, now onto book 2.
Free download. This book was a really good read. Not your straight forward woman looking for love finds Alpha male to fit the part. Dee is every bit the amazing business woman, professional, focused, determined and gets the job done. Her dream has always been to work under Ellison Thorne, an amazing business man with great moral fibre. When the opportunity arises after tragedy strikes she can't say no, but Ellis and Dee are cut from the same cloth, workaholics, but that's not all of it. Dee has always thought of Ellis as an amazing man, and Ellis has been fantasising about Dee for a while so it's no surprise when they start a sexual relationship to ease their stress while working so much, a deal to scratch their itch when needed but is it ever that simple when sex is on the table. This book is well written, great plot, great characters, good and bad providing lots of angst. The sex scenes are hot but do they get the HEA? Well I recommend reading.
I picked this up during the free promotion, and it did not disappoint. I loved that it had a great story and lots of sexy hot love scenes...Very well done. Great writing.
Dee takes a job working for her hero Ellis and is immediately attracted to him. She is a tough executive, bright and hardworking. He is equally driven. A common friend plants the seed to them both that they should have a no string attached, Executive Sex Clause, where they both can have sex to increase creativity. Of course there are lots of twists and turns in the plot, so I won't spoil it. But they do end up falling for each other, despite their no strings attached agreement.
My short review really doesn't do the book justice. But if you enjoy erotic romances with a dash of suspense, you should definitely buy this book. I loved it and will definitely read more from this author in the future!
I wasn't sure what to expect from the cover art since it's very "50 Shades-ish," and I've been so sick of that same dumb story regurgitated 1000 different ways. This book is absolutely beyond what I expected! I absolutely loved both Dee and Ellis, their chemistry was immediate and palatable. The dialogue was sexy and realistic and, at times, raw and animalistic. The sex was absolutely divine, you could totally feel the passion these two felt for one another pulsing off of the e-pages. I even liked the secondary characters, especially the bumbling Garrett & Stacie.
Long story short, this is an EXCELLENT book that is 100% worth reading if you like a hot & steamy, fast paced story with a great plot and relatable characters. You won't be disappointed! This is one of the extreme few books I'd consider reading a second time.
I didn't realise when I purchased this book that is was K.D. Grace writing under a different name. I have loved some of K.D. Grace's steamier erotic novels, but some I found a little too "out there" even for my tastes, so I was interested to see how her new romance focussed book would read. I wasn't disappointed. Dee and Ellis were strong likeable characters and the setting and plot were well thought out and flowed nicely. It lost one star for me because I didn't get enough descriptive emotions from the two main leads, I'd have liked to have found out more of how they felt about each other, what they saw in each other. Possibly not as erotic as my usual type of book and a bit too much time spent in meetings rather than on feelings and actions, but a very enjoyable read. I will definitely try the second book in the trilogy.
A sizzling page turner. Dee is a strong, feisty business woman who becomes the new executive assistant to Ellis, a workaholic, hot alpha male. The chemistry between the two is instantly obvious, jumps out and knocks you off your feet. Is there more than just physical attraction though? The two main characters are really well written and rounded out. Throw in a couple of nasty pieces of work that make you want to pull them out of the book and wring their evil necks, a very interesting business deal and lots of steamy sex, angst and oh my god moments and you've got a wonderful combination, stirred together by a talented writer to give a story that makes you hungry for more.
352pgs, romantica, Overworked CEO Ellison Thorne has no time for sex, let alone romance. The only answer, at least where his retiring business partner Beverly is concerned, is a no-strings sex clause in her replacement 19s contract, designed to make Ellis 19 busy life easier 13 and hotter. But she 19s joking, right? When Dee Henning takes over Beverly 19s job, sparks fly between her and Ellis, but work takes priority in driven Dee 19s life too. Can one night of passion in a Paris hotel room prove Beverly 19s Sex Clause is their secret to success in the boardroom and the bedroom, and what will happen if that private clause becomes public knowledge?
“I received this book as a review copy in return for an honest review” OMG! I loved loved loved this book. It is Hot and Sexy! An Executive Decision has a great story line and is well written. It goes to show you can have some fun in the real business world. Who would have known that sex could help you be more productive at work? I am in awe of Grace Marshall (KD Grace). She has truly written a great story and I can’t wait to read another one. This book should definitely be put on your must reads list...
The political moves behind the scenes regarding the affiliation of three companies on a project that would be financially beneficial to each plus the clash of individual ambitious personalities seeking their own agendas provides a fascinating scenario. ESC, of course, is at the root of the conflict. One scene about angry sex in the wilderness was very descriptive. Great details on situations make it seem real. Great story of love between Ellis and Dee.
LIFE IN THE WORLD OF BIG BUSINESS, EXCITING BUT NOT VERY PRETTY. IT' IS EXCITING AND HORRIBLE, WHAT A CUT THROAT WORK PLACE. ELLIS & DEE ARE THROWN INTO A MAKE BELIEVE ESC WHICH TURNS INTO A NIGHTMARE CLUSTER-F*CK. LIFE IN THE CORPORATE WORLD MAY BE LUCRATIVE BUT IS IT REALLY WORTH IT. THIS WAS A VERY FUNNY, ROMANTIC, STEAMY, HOT, SEXY STORY, I REALLY ENJOYED READING IT. THE CHARACTERS WERE ALL VERY INTERESTING IN SO MANY VARIOUS WAYS, SOME GOOD AND SOME VERY BAD. ;D
