Mystery writing lets Peg indulge her curiosity under the guise of “work” (aka research). She put pen to paper at age seven when she wrote plays and forced her cousins to perform them at Christmas dinner. She switched to mysteries when she discovered the perfect hiding place for a body down the street from her house.

When she’s not writing, she spends her time reading, cooking, spoiling her granddaughter and checking her books' stats on Amazon.

A former Jersey girl, Peg now resides in Michigan. She is the author of the Open Book Series (written as Margaret Loudon), the Murder, She Reported series, the Cranberry Cove Series, the Farmer’s Daughter series, the Gourmet De-Lite series, the Lucille series, and the Sweet Nothings Lingerie series (written as Meg London.)

There are some things you can't unsee.

The heroine was a whiny bitch who was the queen of slut-shaming. Even her own friends weren't good enough for the awesomeness that was her. I'm surprised I made it to 43%

Honestly, I'm kind of wondering if I'm not a masochist.

This book is about a 14 year old girl Mac Daly who's just begun to write for “advice to the lovelorn” column for their high school newspaper--she has never even had a boyfriend. When Amber,a gorgeous blonde cheerleader(you could think of her as a bitch from the school's in-crowd..!)taunts Mac about never having had a boyfriend Mac bets that she could snare Travis Cooper, one of the hottest guys in school. But then Mac discovers that Travis is about to become her stepbrother.
Hearing about this Amber suddenly turns friendly.Mac revels in this new-found friendship and ignores her other two friends.

Having read this much of the story(about 1/2 of the book..!) I naturally assumed that it would be followed by something boring and predictable along the lines of a series of events happening and Mac finally realizing her mistake etc etc...But that's not how it went..oh! it did ,but not the way I had though it would. It was rather followed by a development of Mac's character (Big time..!),a new romance and a new brother-sister relationship.By the end of the book I was rather impressed by the strengthening and development in Mac's character.

Also,I for one, loved the author's humorous way with words. For instance:

"At first, all I could think about was the fact that here was Travis Cooper, lead singer of Travesty, super cool guy who had kissed me (okay, only on the cheek, but still), and I was dressed as the torso-less, artificial-limbed eighth wonder of the world"

another one:

"Score! I finally had the thing, whatever it was, caught with my chopsticks. Now to get it to my mouth without dropping it...I did it!
I took a bite, and it was like someone had lit a match inside my mouth. I spit it out, and it landed right on Mark’s tie. I didn’t care."

All in all, it's a light, relaxing and fun read.Nothing out of the ordinary or intense but unique in its own way.

This book would be okay, if not for Mac's character.
She was selfish, whinny, shallow and did I said selfish?!
I was so annoyed reading her thoughts that I almost gave up reading the book to the end.
And this is a short story.

Mackenzie, Travis, and Alex

Mac bets a popular girl that she can get a date to the high school dance. She has her mind set on the best looking guy in school. Then she finds out he is going to be her stepbrother. It's going to change everything.

I'm obviously too old to read a book about a 14 year old. Annoying, but I did find myself reading to the end.

This is sweet and cute. I remember those awkward early teens and trying to fit in. Good short story and loved the change of emotions.

Okay but not great

It was a good read but not my normal genre. I liked it but wasn't completely in love with it. Just has to be your thing.
