Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
If you're ever in the mood for a story about a "cute vampire" - this is it. Difficult though it may sound to marry the concepts "vampire" and "cute", Lynn Hagen proves it is possible in this entertaining, fun read about Devon, the unwilling vampire and Jim, his hesitant protector.
Devon never wanted to be bitten, never wanted to be turned, and now that he is, he doesn't want to drink blood. Not that he has a choice, but he is certainly not looking forward to it. Until he meets Jim - and everything changes.
Jim never wanted a steady boyfriend, preferring to get his rocks off with his buddy, he never wanted to feel responsible for another human (or paranormal) being, and when he meets Devon he suddenly has all kinds of unfamiliar emotions he never asked for. Not that he complains - at least, not for very long...
If you like your stories with some humor, if the idea of a "small cuddly vampire" doesn't make you run screaming for the hills, and if you enjoy the odd bite during love play, you will probably like this book.
I loved the premise. But the whole book feels like a premise. This needed to be a full novel with explanations about vamps, why Devon was changed, and either have a supernatural reason for the insta-love, or stretch out the time frame. I would totally read that book.
Typically the vampire in the story is the more dominant of the human-vamp pair. But it was the opposite in thIs book. I think the plot was really unique but I think there were definitely some holes in the story. The "evil vampire" sort of didn't make sense to me. He kind of popped up and disappeared all without making much of an impact. There was a lot left unexplained. But all in all the book was pretty good. if there is a second installment (which I doubt just bc it didn't seem to set up for a series) I hope there will be more explanation. ..
