Anika My milkshakes may bring all the boys to my bar, but that doesn't mean they wanna hang around for dessert.
Despite being the perfect woman - attractive, confident and a world class chef - I'm not marriage material. I've resigned myself to that fact. But that doesn't mean I don't want a man in my bed.
And Mac? Or should I say, Mac-Daddy? Well, he's just the man I'm looking for. Temporary.
Mac Anika's convinced this is a short-term thing between us. But what she doesn't realize is she was mine from first glance.
If only I can convince her that we go together like salt and pepper, like meat and veg, like... well, you get the idea.
Brace, Anika, I'm about to shake up your world.
Warning: This book is inspired by burgers, eggplants and men who fight for what they want. So, get thee a man, some whipped cream, and settle in -- this naughty little read will have you asking for seconds.

I loved Anika and Mac so much I probably would've read a whole full length book about them. This felt like the cliffnotes version of what would've been an amazing steamy romcom, but it wasn't bad! Just really short and sweet, but lacking in depth. I understand, though, that there's only so much one can delve into in 100 pages, give or take.
The epilogues were cute, even if personally I found the second epilogue a bit weird.
I LOVED writing Mac and Anika. Anika was feisty, Mac just wanted a forever type of love, and together they were wonderful!

I adore Evie Mitchell, I adore all her works, but this one I just didn't like as much as others I have read.
We started off all hot and heavy, and then for me Anika and Mac's story kind of fell off the rails.
I didn't really feel any of the feels for our lovelies. In fact, the only person in the story I felt any real reaction to was Anika's brother, and it wasn't a good reaction. He is a turd that needs to get whacked with his pompousness. Writing this now, days later, I still hate him!
I can't quite pinpoint exactly what it was that I didn't really like with this one. I finished it and mostly I am oh yeah, I am done with this book now. And I hate that I felt like that this time.
I am looking forward to more of Ms Mitchell's work, and am sure this one is just an anomoly.
The Shake-Up by Evie Mitchell took me back to Capricorn Cove and I adored this new story set in that familiar setting!
Anika and Mac are THE BEST! I have been wanting their stories individually, and getting the absolute TREAT of them being each other's story? Best. News. EVER!
Anika is feisty, fierce, incredibly strong, and I love her confidence, and how she approaches each situation, knowing that things will work out and she'll always make it work one way or another. She deserves a break though, and to be valued for how amazing she is!
And Mac? Holy moly but he is delicious. Gruff and certain of himself, yet completely okay with Anika and her feminine power. Mac is a MAN, but he's also so in tune with himself and those around him and that is ATTRACTIVE as all get out!
I love how this book touches on the importance of self love as well as other kinds of love. About how it's important to trust in yourself and your worth. You'll have to read it to find out how the talented Evie does this though!
The chemistry by the way? Off the charts! This is one shmekshay read, so, what are you waiting for? Go fall in love with Anika and Mac and want to move to Capricorn Cove, just like I do! You won't regret it!
P. S. Can Anika cook me a meal, please and thank you?
P. P. S. Are we going to get a story for Farrah?! And I cannot wait for Yasmin's story!
Another great addition to the Capricorn Cove series from Evie! I absolutely loved dynamic between Anika & Mac! A bit of a life goals roll reversal going on that I found to be so refreshing.
Anika was so feisty! She had a fantastically bold personality and everyone needing to caution Mac about her knife skills...and the ensuing scene had me in stitches!
I loved that Mac was this big bulky rugged guy...looking for his forever, his wife, kids and picket fence. Normally it's the woman looking for that so what a great change of pace.
Anika's rules on keeping guys from getting close and those crazy high walls she'd built around her heart were no match for Mac. He was steady, constant and that was exactly what Anika needed to see and experience to let him in.
I loved that there were bits of humor, characters from previous books in the series and some hints at things tying into the Thor's Shipbuilding series in this book. It truly feels like a family I'm invested in/a part of.
Back to Cove and this one picks up with a steamy bang.
For some reason i couldn't connect with these two? Idk why i tried so hard they were both very likeable characters. I just couldnt feel the vibes they were pushing.
One night stand turned little awkward and flirty when Mac walks into her bar since he is friends with Ella boo. Now the tension is high and Anika tries to push him away because she doesn't do relationships or seconds. But she ends up renting her extra place to mac and that's how slowly her feelings change.
I did get disappointed that we didn't get anyone to curse out that brother.
No ow/om drama, no cheating, Tiny drama, slight secondary character, Sexy times, no virgins (both had experience)

This is a cute, fun, fast read. We meet Mac and Anika in this book. Anika is best friend to Ella, Mac is best friend to Gunnar. Mac and Anika have a sinfully wonderful moment before being officially introduced by their best buds. Anika is a tough nonsense type of gal and Mac is a good guy that is thrown for a loop with Anika. I giggled at a couple of moments. Both are a hoot. I am definitely looking forward to the next book.
This was adorable! This is the 3rd book in the series that I've read and it wasn't one that felt too short. It flowed really nice. And also I love Mac! "I'm gonna marry her'...'Now I just have to convince Anika'". Like OMG is he for real? He is such a sweetie! Anika is nervous about commitment and I get it so falling for Mac was so dang perfect. This was a cute quick and spicy small town romance.
3.5 ⭐️ It was a very cute story, but I didn't know it was a novella, and thought things were going really fast. And that made it feel as if the author skipped on important parts of the story. But I liked the main characters and their chemistry, as well as the side characters.
Now I think I have another favourite couple. Ani and Mac One night stand, turns out his best friend is her business partners fiancé. New to town he needs a place to stay. I loved these two. Evie writes strong independent women and I here for it. Loving the residents of Capricorn Cove
For how short it was, it was pretty good. But there just wasn’t enough to time to really connect with the characters. Especially because the timeline jumped/moved so quickly.
The pacing felt a little odd for me as well at times.
This was getting a 3⭐️ but then *SPOILER*
Anika announces that she loves Mac in the MIDDLE OF HER BEST FRIENDS WEDDING DRESS TRY ON!?!? Uh… no…
I feel kind of bad for giving it a 1⭐️ but there was literally nothing good about it: it was 90% smut, and the smut was BAD. Maybe a longer book would’ve got 2 stars, but there wasn’t any sort of character development here to compensate for the cringey smut.
A Firestorm of Sexy Sizzle and Awww Inducing Sincerity...
Oh Capricorn Cove how I love thee... And this one, "The Shake-up", Evie Mitchell's sixth foray into the lives and hearts of the lively, colorful residents of this quaint little town is a breath of spicy, sassy, fresh air.
Here Mitchell gives us the story of Anika and Mac. Anika being the slightly frightening powerhouse chef and co-owner of the Bronze Horseman with Ella. A fiery British transplant who unapologetically commands her life and everything around her with fierce abandon. So fierce in fact she stays alone rather than risk any unwelcomed attachments. And Mac the equally confident and talented shipwright and lifelong friend of Gunnar. A healthy hunk of a man in Capricorn Cove for what he thinks is a temporary work trip, that is until he gets unexpectedly run over by a ruby lipped temptress.
What follows is a firestorm of hot as hell chemistry and panty melting encounters. A sexy as sin tale of insta-lust and unexpected connections. A story where you get a front seat, voyeur's view of Ani and Mac's rollercoaster journey from one night stand to forever, and all the bumps and fear induced hiccups inbetween.
This honestly may be Mitchell's most dynamic couple yet; Anika is brash, and unapologetically secure in herself. Mac the perfectly paired calm and patient ying to Ani's impulsive, yet over controlled yang. Where Ani doubts their relationship, Mac simply lives it, modeling day-to-day the love he knows Ani needs and wants deep down despite her protests.
They are a perfect match in every way, and I loved every bit of it! Although as with the other books in this series, I wish it were longer! Regardless, Mitchell's Capricorn Cove additions just keep getting better and better with each passing installment, and I honestly hope she never stops giving us these little gems of quirky, Viking love.
Contigo. —Gracias a Cristo. ¿Vas a entrar? —Sí, pero... Creo que me gustas, Mac. Y eso es malditamente aterrador. —Sé que me gustas. Y es jodidamente asombroso. —Ya me han herido antes. No sé cómo relacionarme. —Entonces lo resolveremos juntos. Vuelve a casa, Anika. Tu novio quiere besarte. — ¿Vas a quedarte ahí parado?
