Gansett Island #7

Longing for Love

Rate this book
All his training never prepared him for this kind of shock and ahhhhh…

Series favorite Tiffany Sturgil steals the spotlight in Longing for Love as her new boutique Naughty & Nice opens in downtown Gansett, right in time for the annual spring Race Week festivities. Finally divorced and ready for a new beginning, Tiffany wonders if sexy Police Chief Blaine Taylor thinks of her as often as she thinks of him since their explosive encounter last fall. Back then he directed her to call him the second she was officially divorced, but the opening of her store and her unconventional advertising "campaign" have put the island's lingerie queen at odds with the town's top cop. Despite their clashes, when these two finally get together after months of steamy build up, readers will need to keep a fire extinguisher close at hand!

Blaine has been burned in the past by love affairs gone wrong, and he's wary about risking too much too soon. But he quickly discovers that Tiffany's sarcastic rejoinders and bitter outer shell hide a badly wounded heart of gold. He also discovers she's a "sex-toy fraud" and convinces her she can't possibly sell the merchandise without trying it out first... While he finds himself thinking of her all the time, the mayor is after him to curb her sexy advertising and his mother worries that Blaine has taken on another "project" who will break his heart.

As Blaine and Tiffany fight for their happily ever after, readers' favorite characters from past books are back for more island adventures. Joe and Janey return to Gansett for the summer and discover the big secret his mother has been keeping. Evan learns that Grace hasn't told her parents about him. Stephanie's restaurant is ready to open in the renovated Sand & Surf Hotel. Dan keeps showing up to "visit" Kara at work, Mac is worried about Maddie's upcoming meeting with her deadbeat dad and a Race Week catastrophe reminds everyone what's really important. <

The McCarthys of Gansett Island takes a decidedly erotic turn in this seventh book! If hot, sexy men in uniform cavorting with hot, sexy women who sell sex toys for a living aren't your thing, this book might not be for you!

Tiffany Sturgil is finally ready to open the doors to her new lingerie store, Naughty & Nice, and her divorce is just about final. It's a new, fresh start for her but not without controversy as Gansett Island may not be ready for her audacious new business. But, Police Chief Blaine Taylor is most definitely ready to revisit (and resume) their last encounter as soon as the ink is dry on those divorce papers.

This was such a fun story as Tiffany's got lots of verve and nerve and uses some provocative and innovative advertising approaches that test even the adventurous Blaine. Their relationship is über sexy and I loved how it developed.

There are many others featured but this time they don't detract from Tiffany & Blaine. I love the updates about previous characters (why else have them be connected?) and Seamus & Carolina's was my favorite. Burgeoning new relationships are introduced and there's a pretty serious event featured as well. Sounds busy but it really worked. This is my favorite to date.

Longing for Love is Tiffany and Blaine's story.

It is the sweet, heartwarming, and entertaining and is the seventh book in amazing Gansett Island series. It features humour, drama, angst, secrets and desires that kept me interested and invested.

Tiffany's shop is attracting more notice than she really wanted and that of the local police. Advertising has never been more sexy.

This could be read as a standalone but each book features another person on the island so I would read them all in order because if not you are missing out.

Make sure this one is on your TBR. I read it a few years ago and fell in love with the characters then and rereading now makes me realise why I loved this series so much.

4.5 stars. I freaking loved this bk. I think it’s one of her best and you definitely don’t want to miss this one. WOW that Blaine!!! Walking sex on a stick. MF got a bit racier with this story, and I was lovin’ it!!! With Tiffany opening her Naughty and Nice store and Blaine, the local police chief, being all alpha male and dominant you can imagine how things got in her bedroom, his bedroom, her store, and….. ;-). I’m sure some will criticize that Blaine and Tiffany didn’t get as much spotlight as they should have. There is some truth to that but there is sooo much in this bk that needs to be told. Tiffany and Blaine’s’ story did seem a bit rushed. Also I don’t like the “I love you” followed very closely with “marry me” but realistically I get it, MF's gotta give them their HEA in one bk. Just seemed like their relationship lasted about a week but again I compare these bks to an hour TV show. No one wants to wait until next week to find out about how things turn out with the starring couple.

Now on to the good stuff. What time Tiffany and Blaine did have was sexalicious. Ok, they spend most of their time together in bed, but no complaints from me. And I rubbed my hands together with glee when Tiffany’s ex-husband Jim (the jerk) got set back a time or two. I tell you there were sooo many things happening in this bk. There was love, drama and at least 4 different couple/relationships: some in the making, some building, some re-kindling and some just a spark. Won’t spoil the whose with who, will let you enjoy finding out. All my fav’s were back but the list keeps growing with each bk. As always this bk is a great set up for the next and I can’t wait to see what will happen. I’m thrilled with the blurb at the end where MF says that this series will continue on for as long as her readers are enjoying them. MF says very cryptically that she’s got a big surprise for Adam McCarthy the lone McCarthy without an HEA much less any real time spent on Gansett Island. Hmmm....so not sure who will be the star couple in the next bk, there are so many to choose from. I also hear there are cousins still to be heard from. All I know for now is every visit to Gansett Island is a wonderful time and I know I’ll be waiting anxiously for whatever happens and whoever she couples up next.

The only reason I have reread this book is that I loved the growing relationship between Dan and Kara. Love those two!

This was a love story with Tiffany and Blaine Taylor. It was a decent read but was a bit redundant.

As is becoming usual for this series, I HATED the male lead, but liked the secondary storylines, many of which were about male leads that I hated in past books. So, I plan to start liking Blaine as soon as he's not the star of his own book.

Since my reading addiction started and I continually discovered new authors and their books, I have found my favorites that I wait anxiously to be released and The McCarthy's of Gansett Island series is one of them. So I have to admit that I did a little happy dance when Longing For Love was finally released!! LOL :)

I continue to be drawn into each of these books through the lovable characters and the wonderful little island they reside. I've never wanted to live in a fictional place or surround myself with fictional characters more than with The McCarthy's of Gansett Island. The way that Marie Force writes this series and how she brings each of the stories to life gets me every time.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE every single little thing about Longing For Love!!! It was simply PERFECT!! I think that it is definitely my favorite of the series so far!! I love Blaine and Tiffany and I love how Marie Force wrote their relationship with such a mixture of love and laughter. I was sucked in immediately and I never wanted to leave!! Blaine *sigh*

I was so happy to revisit with all of my favorite characters and some new ones as well. Joe and Janey, Mac and Maddie, Evan and Grace, Grant and Stephanie, Owen and Laura, and of course Big Mac and Linda. I cannot wait to read about them all again in Adam's book. I am also anxiously waiting for more of Kara and Dan, Daisy and David and Jenny. I am so interested in where Marie is going with these characters.

I never wanted Longing For Love to end and I found myself trying to read slower to prolong the story. I wasn't ready to leave Gansett Island!! Just an awesome book filled with romance, love, laughter, tears, conflict, a little angst, HOT SEX, more laughter and more tears~everything that I have come to expect and love from Marie Force and this series. So good that I had to reread right after I was finished!! LOL :)

Thank you, Marie, for continuing on with this series and allowing me to escape into this wonderful world that you have created. I look forward to each and every book with anticipation of what will happen next.

BEST OF THE BEST rating.

I'm one of those people who prefer reading stand alone books or short series (no more than four books) because I get tired of waiting for the next book or I forget characters or what's happened. But for some reason, the McCarthys of Gansett Island trapped me from book 1 and I have waited for each new book and read them all.

Marie keeps writing about previous characters (which are some of my favorites from Gansett) and I love to keep knowing more about them. The only bad thing about it is that sometimes you get to know about characters you don't care about. And for that reason this book was hard for me to rate.

I waited for Tiffany and Blaine's story for a long time. I liked how it played in here and that they finally got their HEA (although I have to admit their 'games' sometimes got a little too repetitive and too much, and I had to skip some of those pages).

I loved reading more about Mac and Maddie (though I wish there would've been more of them as a couple). I loved reading more Joe and Janey, I've missed them. I loved as well reading more of Grant and Stephanie. But like in the previous book, I just didn't care for Seamus and Caroline's story and having so much about them here was hard for me. I skipped many of their pages.

There were also some other storylines that didn't catch my complete attention (yet) and it made me drag my reading, longer than I expected.

So as much as I'd like to rate this book higher (because of the things I loved), I can't.

Still, I'm looking forward to reading the next book because we'll FINALLY know more about Adam McCarthy. It is about time.

Gansett Adası Serisinin 7.kitabını okumuş bulunmaktayim. :D

Yazarimiz adadaki herkesi herkesle everiyor birlestiriyor. Masallah Esra Erol'u gecti bu konuda :P

Her zamanki gibi sevdim bir çırpıda okudum. Seriyi sevenler muhakkak bu kitabi da severler.

You don't want to miss out on Tiffany and Blaine's story, along with updates on all the other characters we've come to love! Marie Force keeps the romance hot (well even hotter!!), the stories realistic, and the series fresh and addictive. Can't wait for the next trip to Gansett Island.

I have visited Gansett Island many times, and generally enjoyed my stay.

In this installment the main characters in the book are Tiffany and Blaine. Tiffany is struggling to keep her head above water. She supported her husband through law school, working two jobs. Now that they moved back to the island and have young daughter he has decided he wanted a divorced and moved out of the home, taking all the furniture with him. Tiffany runs a daycare and a dance studio during the off season, but at the beginning of this book she is actively working on opening Naughty & Nice a boutique that caters to islanders and tourists who want to be more adventurous in the bedroom. Blaine is the island's police chief and has been waiting for Tiffany's divorce to become final. The night they spend together when it becomes final is more than either of them imagined.

But this is an Gansett Island book, which means we visit with other characters we have met along this now 7 book journey. And this is where I think this book lost the appeal for me. Yes it is nice to check in with other characters now and then, have coffee or a drink with one or two. However in this book we have whole separate scenes, and even two new relationships that started. I got to wondering who had more pages Tiffany & Blaine or all these other characters added together. I felt all this attention to these other characters hindered the development of Tiffany and Blaine's characters. I did not feel their love at all in this book. In the first Gansett I felt Mac and Maddie's love. All I felt from Tiff and Blaine was lust that seemed to combust over a one week period. I also felt some of these auxliary characters small plots in this book did not get the justice they deserved ie: Evan and Grace's conflict was glossed over in my opinnion.

It read more like a soap opera to me; and one thing about soap operas they tell you to tune in next time. However most fans don't wait more than a week to see how it ends, the next Gansett Island book's release has yet to be determined.

Listened to on audio, narrated by Holly Fielding.

4.5 stars for the audio. I'd not encountered Holly Fielding before and so I was a little unsure to begin with, just because it takes a little while to become used to a different voice and style, but after the first 10 minutes I totally forgot about her. That, in my opinion, is the sign of a really good narrator. They should disappear into the background whilst at the same time enhancing the book. I am really pleased to say this definitely happened here!

Now, I totally loved the book! I really didn't expect to, after having a less than stellar memory of 1, 2 & 3. Looking back I rated them 4 stars, 3 stars and 4 stars respectively, so I must have enjoyed them at the time, but my memory of them was that they weren't that good. I can't really tell you why.

To my joyous surprise, I loved the writing, the humour, the characters, the setting, the romance, the sex, the other love stories woven in...just everything hit the right buttons. There were some obnoxious characters and some drama, but neither were over the top. OTT drama or conflict is a real turn of to me, therefore, this organic progression of lots of interwoven threads really worked for me. Just when I was thinking 'Grrrrr, why have you moved on to someone else when I'm dying to know what happens next here...' I was suddenly transfixed on whatever new thread we were following. It's a real gift to be able to sustain a reader's interest in each different thread. They have to grab your interest quickly otherwise they lose you.

I completely fell in love with both Blaine and Tiffany. Blaine was sexy sexy sexy and Tiff was sweet, strong and sassy. I loved how she just drew people in.

I totally want to open a similar shop!!!

I am now going to listen to some of the others after having such a good experience with this one. I'm going to listen to them out of order, which is a little bit off my normal MO, but heck, I'm feeling a little crazy.

This has to be my favorite book in the series so far.

Tiffany totally rocks! I love her independence and strength, and of course the Gansett-unconventional toy store she opened, and I'm not talking about children's toys. Her and Blaine's story started from Grant and Stephanie's story when they met. It's already been a year and since Tiffany is still technically married to her douchebag husband Jim, Tiffany and Blaine are limited to eye-f*cking only.

I love the sexual tension between them and Blaine is so damn sexy in his subtle Dom mode. It doesn't hurt that Blaine is the police chief in the island and the uniform adds to his sexiness. I liked how Tiffany empowered the women somewhat, because she sells sexy lingerie and other novelty items, she's also good at boosting women's confidence.

There were a lot of scenes here that made my eyes water (like all of her Ms Force's novels do) and I'm touched by Blaine's sweetness and caring for her, even though he was also scarred. Both of them came out of bad relationships, and Tiffany's being no secret. This is also where we'll hate Jim to the nth degree. How a-hole-ish could one person get?

I always forget to mention that her endings aren't really endings because we'll see the couples in the next books so I don't mind at all. Ms Force doesn't really leave cliffhangers so that's a plus in reading this series.

2.5 stars

I was on the fence for the first couple of chapters, but I kept with it and it got better. I guess the author was trying to inject some variety into the personalities and styles of her male love interests, but Blaine never really clicked with me. To be honest, I never liked Tiffany much either - though she's softened quite a bit since her introduction in the first book. I was still routing for them, though not super emotionally invested. I actually skimmed through a lot.

Fans of the series will appreciate how this book circles round to just about every relationship we've seen in the previous 6 books, PLUS adding about 5 more couples connecting. Seriously. 5 more! It was a bit much, though since I'm a romance junkie I actually liked the overload, but it won't be for everyone.

I'm still on board this Gansett Island train, though. They're quick, light reads that still have strong emotional cores. Bring on book 8!

cinque stelle meritatissime

4.5 Stars!

After accidentally erasing my long review I am just too lazy to re-write it. So I'm going to get right to it, I loved it! Blaine & Tiffany burn up the sheets and then some. Definitely IMO much more erotic but hot for the better. That Blaine is one freaky man and Tiffany (along with me) loves it. Love sneaks up on them while they are respectively are trying to not let their past relationships factor in.

The various sideline stories continue but I'm getting used to it, although I wish she'd lower the amount down. I can handle about four but any more than that I have to rack my brain trying to remember who's who. Hey, don't blame me because I have mommy brain. I do like the updates and continuing HEA'S. They make me feel like an actual islander. One of the side stories with David actually caught my attention because I didn't think I'd like him since he cheated on Janey but I do. Mostly because of how Marie wrote his POV. I'm looking forward to hopefully more with him and Daisy. Please, give them an actual book because I'd really like to get more into Daisy's character.

Breakdown: Loved it! See you next time Gansett Island.

Tiffany and Blaine are my least favourite characters from the whole series. I found Tiffany’s prancing around in her costumes as bit silly. The first few chapters opened with too many sex scenes IMO, I would have liked to see a build up in their romance without the sex. However the rest of the characters Linda and Big Mac, Maddie and Mac, Grant and Stephanie, Laura and Owen, Janey and Joe, Caroline and Seamus and introducing Kara and Dan held this book together. I didn’t dislike Blaine and Tiffany completely it’s just for me they are not my favourite. Looking forward to book eight.

The Gansett Island's series is really good, amusing, interesting, but I haven't connected with these two main characters. The plot too is not so breath-taking. I found Tiffany and her actions unnerving and sometimes silly, most of all in her work. So, a nice read, but not to compare with some of the other books...

CLICK HERE TO READ MORE REVIEWS AT READING, EATING AND DREAMING I WAS BLAIR WALDORF

Longing for Love was another fantastic novel by Marie Force. I just loved Tiffany and Blaine's love story. Their romance was the perfect combination of naughty and nice. Their relationship was a combination of sweet and sexy, heavy on the sexy. Tiffany and Blaine had a very hot, playful, and adventurous sex life. Ms. Force definitely spiced things up in this novel. In my opinion, Longing for Love is the sexiest novel in this series so far. And coincidentally, it also happens to be my favorite novel in the series so far. What does that say about me? ;)

One of my biggest complaints about this series has been that at times I've felt very overwhelmed by all the different characters and story lines. In each novel, Ms. Force has updated readers on past characters and has introduced new characters along the way. I love getting updates on old characters and I love meeting new characters, but there has been times when I've felt overwhelmed by all of the characters and all of the story lines. When there is too much back and forth, readers don't get to spend as much time with the main characters which can be a negative thing because readers don't get to know and bond with the main characters as much as they do in other novels. It can also break up the story so it feels choppy. I've had an issue with both of those things in the past. However, I must say that Ms. Force did a wonderful job transitioning between the different story lines in this novel. She also spent more time with the main characters so I really felt like I got to know them in this novel. Like I said before, Longing for Love is my favorite novel in this series so far!

I gave Longing for Love (The McCarthys of Gansett Island #7) by Marie Force 4 STARS (3.5 STARS). I strongly recommend this novel and this series to readers.

-XOXO

4.5 out of 5. This seventh book in another fine Marie Force series continued to keep me glued to the stories of this island population, all friends of relatives of the Gansett Island McCarthy family. Now the sister-in-law of Mac McCarthy, Tiffany Stirgil, a hard working business woman and caring mother has been thrown over by her self-centered and uncaring ex, a man who was happy to allow her to work two jobs while he was getting his law degree and birthing his daughter. Now that the money is rolling in, Jim Stirgil has no more use for Tiffany and she has now moved on. As Gansett Island's newest business owner, a lingerie and "other stuff" kind of store, Tiffany is also beginning a love affair with the island's Chief of Police, a man who has long desired her but was waiting for Tiffany's divorce to be final. It is a very erotic story, one that is also about a determined woman who has no patience of stomach for a man who wants to "order" her life. She has finally achieved the dream of her own "Naughty & Nice" store and even though Blaine is rapidly becoming very important to her, she has no intention of letting him or his badge determine how she does her business or runs her life. Additional "chapters" in the previous novels' characters continue to be woven into this novel and as in all family sagas, it is part of the charm to be able to keep up with those whose relationships were featured in previous books. I absolutely love this author's work. I have read her mystery series and am anxious to read any additional stories she feels like writing for this series. We have not yet met the illusive Adam McCarthy, the brother who has been mentioned but who has never appeared. Hopefully we will be introduced to him soon. Just one more fabulous read for one of my favorite authors!
