Predictability. Control. Safety. Comfort. Jesus challenges God’s man to throw all those words out the window. Because, when it comes to your faith, all the energy spent eliminating risk from your life actually becomes a barrier to progress in your spiritual journey. Jesus said, “If you try to keep your life for yourself you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake…you will find true life” (Mark 8:35). There really is no such thing as the “safe life” when you are committed to Christ–when you seek to become God’s man. Instead, Jesus personally challenges you to bet your life totally on him. Risk is for men who are ready to go to the next level in their faith–and ready to say goodbye to playing it safe when it comes to radically trusting their Savior.

A challenging book, calling christian men to step out onto the ocean and take the risk to follow Jesus and fulfill his commission and call on your life no matter what the cost! This book was written in 2006 but it is as timely today as it is was then. If you pick up this book prepare to be challenged every chapter and be feeling uncomfortable, but you won't regret your decision. I know I didn't.
It was a good book—I would have rated it higher if I was a man. Several of the concepts were off for me. That being said, this book was written for men. I didn’t realize that until I was a couple chapters into it.
This was a very easy read. It really captured my attention as a man. The real life examples of men who tooks risks in a big way and changed their lives forever really spoke to me. It was definitely inspiring and motivated me to step up and try new things. It was like a big dare had been set before me with no rules...just "I dare you to do something beyond yourself." I'm looking forward to reading other books from this author.
I enjoyed this book very much. It's an easy read which worked well for me while traveling. There are several meaningful sections that challenged my thinking and encouraged me to look at my own willingness to risk allowing God to have control in my life and taking risks in sharing His love and grace with others, especially with other men.
As a woman this was an eye-opener to the window of how a man sees life issues. YET, I can't say enough about how on-the-dot this author is. I have ordered even more of his books.
I found it very interesting, really very nice there is a detail that was the one I did not like, when the pastor speaks in the book about a man who tattooed his knuckles and sincerely I do not like it although he has his reflection that is my only Christica
